  1. It's going to take a lot more than that, $40k is about the minimum. A friend of mines son who was in the portal got $70k from a P5 school that's not even a traditionally strong team.
  2. I’m personally hoping to get more Head during the 2023 football season. Okay last one I swear. Really excited about this signing though, he can play IMO.
  3. Ooh that completion percentage has got to have the Aune haters absolutely creaming right now.
  4. I don't have any sources in the AD or on the football staff but I do know for a fact at least one portal recruit has signed and will likely announce today, just be patient folks.
  5. Truthfully, he guided the only defense of the Seth Littrell era that put up remotely respectful numbers. That same defense forced 18 turnovers in 2018 and had 6 guys who at least were given a chance at the NFL by different teams although Kemon Hall and Nate Brooks were the only ones to ever do much at that level.
  6. I don't really have anything to add to this thread other than, although they're not the same player by any means, KD has the same problem EJ Ejiya had in terms of playing in the NFL. He's just not fast enough unfortunately, and he won't be able to cover TE's or running backs so he won't last long. That doesn't take away from the fact that he was one hell of a player here and should be considered an all time great.
  7. I know I'm not the only one who's thought "If I win this lottery tonight I swear I am going to give UNT like $300 million so we can actually compete" Maybe one of us will hit the mega millions tomorrow. Then again the winner will probably be from Illinois or Cali like usual.
  8. Fair point. But, yeah, that's basically what I'm saying. The Passwaters hire reeked of nepotism this one looks like the DC bringing someone he trusts with him who's familiar with the scheme. I never said it was a home run hire but I personally hated the Passwaters hire from day one I just don't look at this one the same way.
  9. I don't look at this hire the same way I did Passwaters, he wasn't even a defensive coach, had a clear (family) connection to the DC and it was obvious that's why he was hired. Caponi is vouching for him because he believes in him not because he happens to be married to his daughter.
  10. I was told SMU has offered a substantial amount in NIL to a P5 player in the transfer portal who would absolutely start here. There's a long time between now and signing day and I know we're in on him too but we're going to have to "pony up" to even have a chance. Recruiting in 2023 is out of control.
  11. I promise you it's not just a 10 mile radius of South Dallas. He has helped so many kids around DFW including the Denton area get scholarships and has thousands of parents, coaches and athletes who think the world of him. On a national scale, sure, Orgeron would be better for this role, but for what we plan to achieve locally I would rather have him and I have zero doubt he will show you in short order.
  12. Morris did an interview after being hired by WSU last year where he mentioned how he loved to use tight ends and how he planned to bring a few in because WSU didn't have many. We will still see tight ends featured quite a bit.
  13. Ahh yes, the NIL program spearheaded by someone we fired that was last mentioned here months ago for using their official twitter account to reply to political tweets completely unrelated to college athletics. I knew we would lose players like him, doesn't make it hurt less he is talented for sure.
  14. Alderbing is a great blocker and actually played more snaps than most would think. Definitely a loss, but can still be a win/win for student/university if we add the right replacement. Best of luck Asher!
  15. When you put your name in the portal you have to wait 24-48 hours for it to show up, and those are business days, so there are players who put their name in Friday who still won't be known until tomorrow all across the country. We should hold on for dear life, but at the same time, everyone who leaves opens up a scholarship for what will be a very small class already.
  16. How many scholarships do we even have? KD Davis, Whitlock, John Davis (could possibly get another year) , Zahodri Jackson, Faulkner, Mose, and B. Rodriguez are all probably on scholarship I would think. That's 7, Aune, Neville, Drummond leaving is 3 more, what am I missing? That's only ten spots I count although none of this is official, anyone know?
  17. Fair enough I just know how dirty things are now, all it takes it one DM from a position coach promising x amount of dollars and anyone, especially a 19 or 20 year old kid will think about it.
  18. Sounds good, but remember the Murphy twins dad said they were coming back on twitter last season as well. Im guessing at some point they were promised enough money to enter the portal. Long time until we should feel safe about everyone coming back.
  19. Why won't the football gods let us experience the joy of a post season victory? We fought really hard against a team that's more talented than we are, that should be commended. Wish we won though.
  20. I know he threw 32 touchdowns this season, and thrown a few pretty balls but I will never remember anything but the soul crushing interceptions. Literally the difference in the game.
  21. We seriously could have ran it 3 times and got a minimum of 4 yards giving Mooney a 54 yard attempt. Not a guarantee he makes it by any means but damn that was deflating.
  22. When we put our D in we gotta start hittin the hole hard and plugging the backside.
  23. The guys draft stock is pretty high, I don't see any issue with a running back of all positions sitting out. Even if he decided late to skip, that's a volatile position for injuries.
  24. Most important hire we've ever made and we get three 30 second clips in 24 hours...
