  1. Auburn is averaging 41.5 rushing attempts to 25.1 passing attempts so far, but that's fair, Shorter certainly hasn't produced the way I thought he would.
  2. Every single player listed besides Gumms is playing meaningful snaps at their new school. Gumms is behind a true freshman who was a top 100 national recruit and two seniors. He is still a sophomore and will likely factor in next season. Just because they're not lighting the world on fire doesn't mean it proves they can't play at that level or that they're unhappy. I personally know a player who went from G5 to P5 as a junior this season and is redshirting when he was hoping to play. Is he upset? Of course not. He got $40,000, lives in a high rise 5 minutes from campus with his brother who's on the team that's fully paid for, and just this past week got an additional $5,000 from NIL just for being on the team. We also shouldn't take joy in seeing guys that gave blood sweat and tears to us for 3+ years not succeeding if that is the case.
  3. Do the mods on this forum do anything? How long does this dummy get to blatantly troll the forum, add nothing to it, and post weird shit like this for?
  4. I make it a point not to bash the refs but damn, the PI in the endzone early was VERY obvious and that sure looked like targeting to me, maybe they had an angle we didn't. Feels like the refs owe us a couple.
  5. Hey, we're in the game halfway through the 2nd quarter what more can you ask for? I genuinely thought we would be down by 21+ by now. I'm worried the shock of us coming out in a different front will wear off but we are playing well. Kudos to the staff for being bold enough to make a change. GMG!
  6. This is my biggest concern. I never liked it at the time but after Seth Litrell struck out with the first 18 defensive lineman he offered he would sign a big body JUCO player who wasn't highly skilled but could hold up blockers somewhat at the least back when he ran a 3 man front. Guys like Caleb Colvin, Darrian McMillan, Sa'afi etc. I am even more concerned after watching the video below that breaks down the Iowa State 335, and not because I think the scheme is stupid. We don't have the guys to run it now, and it's not going to be any prettier six games from now. The mismatched boxes will continue, the big runs will continue, we just don't have the personnel for it. The most important position of this defense in my opinion is the middle or star safety. They chose to roll with the RS FR with zero starts under his belt Patrick Smith. Watch the FIU highlights and keep your eye on the middle safety during the big runs. I could write a novel on how bad this is not working so far. My conclusion is this, and I mean it with all sincerity. I think we when the season is over, numbers wise, this will be the worst defense we have seen since the new stadium opened. We better average 42+ PPG from here on out.
  7. I believe we have more coaches on staff who can recruit than ever before, at the same time we've invested in the staff behind the scenes for positive results. What we haven't done to my knowledge is figure out our NIL. I believe the first collective folded and it's being managed by a third party now if I'm not wrong. That has to be a part of the equation moving forward. If we had made this investment in recruiting staff a decade ago with the old rules I'm sure we would have a top 60 class right now but present day college football is pay to play. Like it or not this is the business of talent acquisition and retention, 365 days a year, it's no longer about finding the right fit for your system to develop 3+ years. In my opinion you could trim three or four positions from the recruiting staff and offer ten portal guys 20k a year each. As for Gary Patterson, sure, doubt it would ever happen in any capacity though.
  8. We don't have Alderbing, Jake Roberts and Gumms. We are extremely limited without a tight end. The same way we are extremely limited up front, the coaching staff had to have known about these deficiencies. They had the ability to try and address and chose to roll with what we have. I hope we improve, I won't judge Morris after one game.
  9. When was it exactly? I tried to scrub through the show I'm not seeing it.
  10. Forgot about that, that's fair, still seems anti-college football.
  11. Florida was down 24-11 with the ball and 6:30 left and it felt like they had zero chance. Not because of talent, it's just unrealistic with the new rules. In my opinion they should have made this change for first and third quarters only. "The Drive" would never have happened under these rules. I already hate it, it wasn't for less commercials thats for sure.
  12. ILB Nate Ruchena Ed from Ed, Edd and Eddy TE Ben Marshall Yodling kid Mason Ramsey OL Bastian Swinney Farva from Super Troopers
  13. Fair enough but if the hypothetical P5-G5 split actually happened they have possibly bought their spot at the table, can't argue with that. I do believe donor fatigue will set in, and in short order. I know SMU has some donors with deep pockets but how long will they donate at that level while the football team wins 3-5 games.
  14. SMU paid their way to the top, props to them, however they got there, they got there. I do believe SMU will be the Vanderbilt of the ACC though. I can’t wait to see the crowd shots from visiting fans😂😂😂 I will be happy to see the highland park hand humpers, money hungry mustang mounters, privileged pony pecker puffing alums spending all that cash to be everyone’s easy W/ homecoming in the ACC☺️☺️
  15. I am not an alumni I won’t be able to access that unfortunately. I’m just a life long Denton county resident who picked UNT as my team at 14.
  16. I didn’t make this post to be patted on the back or anything. Just for reference I’ve been to I don’t know how many home games since 2004. I was there for the 7 OT game at Fouts and stayed until the bitter end, I was there when apogee opened, I was there for the stand against Rice, I was there for a lot of Litrells early success. Life has prevented me from attending games the last few years. I am well aware of the fact that I need to wear green and I used to give opposing teams hell on the student side of apogee in the first couple years so I can get loud, just in a respectful way I’m in my 30s now. Looking forward to meeting some of y’all I had no idea about umbrellas and clear bags I appreciate it.
  17. I decided to finally put my money where my mouth is and get season tickets. I am in section 208 row 15 is anyone close to me is there anything I should know?
  18. Money matters so props to SMU for using that to their advantage, we all want a seat at the table and they appear to be getting it. I still can't help but laugh at the thought of a Florida State fan scheduling a trip to Dallas and watching a football game in a stadium with 13.5k fans.
  19. Well, we averaged 33.8 points per game last season, which was 28th (8th highest among G5 schools) while giving up 31.7 PPG (110th) and we won 7 games so I think that's entirely possible.
  20. 2017- 35.0 PPG allowed (111th) 2018- 24.2 PPG allowed (43rd) 2019- 32.5 PPG allowed (105th) I'm not saying a three man front can't work here but it really was only 2018 when we had success with it. Six starters on that 2018 defense ended up at least getting a cup of coffee in the NFL. The 2018 defense forced 22 turnovers against the 2nd weakest strength of schedule in FBS and we were exposed by Utah State. I believe the defensive coaches know what they're doing, I think the scheme from ISU is likely way better than the one Reffett ran I just don't believe we will give us less than 30 PPG this season.
  21. I don’t think so, he moved the ball well enough and made throws across the middle. The point I was trying to get across was he showed he’s capable of both moving the ball and making something happen when the play breaks down, he was pretty accurate in my opinion. I will say I’m not a HS football coach or anything there are people on this forum who know football better than me that may have a different assessment. Im excited to see Logan Wilson Phil Hill and Nakwaasah playing safety. Im not saying any of those guys will be all conference but it’s been a decade since that position has been a strength maybe they make enough strides to where that’s the case this year. I could be wrong but I think I saw #98 and #35 Chris Wright taking second team snaps on the DL with #9 Enoch Jackson inside. Kagden Roach and Vailea both rotated in with 1s and 2s. #22 Matthew Moore and #24 Juco signee Chavez Brown at second team LB as well. I didn’t pay attention to the corners all that much that’s all I can remember. I recorded 5 or 6 snaps on my phone but I don’t know if putting a video up of any of our plays on this forum two weeks before the season starts is a good idea or even allowed.
  22. QB- Stone Earle (#3) is your QB. He made one incredible play scrambling and throwing a 30 yard TD across his body right before he went out of bounds. Later on he made a truly remarkable play throwing a 50+ yard TD after escaping the pocket scrambling to his left. I feel bad for Rogers, it's not like he did anything bad tonight, Earle is just the guy. RB- We already know about the big 4. Farrar got plenty of reps and showed his patience and shiftiness, good player and his deceptive size helps him. WR- Trey Cleveland is impressive, hopefully he can fill a good bit of the void Shorter left behind. Maclin/ Burns will be good, Ward/Horton/Jordan Smart should all get plenty of snaps. Landon Sides flashed a little as well and got time returning kicks. OL- First unit looked solid enough, #67 Miner had a couple big blocks including one straight up pancake of #94 Marcus Moore. 2nd team RT Larry Brown looked really good, a little back story about him: At Tech Matt Wells wanted to switch him to DL, then the new coach swapped him back to OL and he lost valuable practice time during spring training one of the years he was there. When he transferred here this year he dropped a weight on his foot and again missed valuable practice time. He is just now getting a bunch of reps at his natural position and should something happen to Duncan we are in very good hands. The big kid from Ohio (404 lbs) looked more nimble than I expected for the 3's. DL- We are extremely undersized for a 3 man front and I am genuinely worried. I saw the guy we made a priority to sign from JUCO #94 Marcus Moore get flatlined and pushed around on several other plays. If one of Mazin Richards or Brown go down for an extended period we are going to be in a world of hurt. The second unit did little to inspire me. We don't have experienced linebackers to count on to fill the gaps this is a big concern to me, maybe other posters aren't as doom and gloom about this position as I am but this is not a strength in my eyes. LB- Lots of young and green players getting playing time. I like their hustle, I think Wesloski has got something, I'm going to wait and reserve judgement until we play but if I had to guess this will be a maddening group with some blown coverages and mistakes who is hopefully rounding in to form during the second half of the season. DB- I think both Nakwaasah and Phil Hill have got something. Surprised at the length and athleticism of some of these guys. Loved the leadership I saw from this group. *Just my opinion, I am not an expert.
  23. The FCS teams do not matter to me at all, I will take an easier W early in the season every year. This obviously isn't the pick of the litter for G5 teams to sign home and homes with but I would imagine the conference switch messed things up considerably. It is what it is, we should be able to win every one of these games you can't argue with that.
