  1. Is this going to be in the style of the Signing Day "live"blog? Or is this going to be... Y'know... For real? Because I don't want to read the last "live" update 7 hours after the scrimmage is over and have to wade through a bunch of updates about softball and soccer. Just saying.
  2. I was only laughing because your zipper was down. Also, the pink baby doll T-shirt with the flying worm on it isn't really meant for guys. Still... Good for you for having spirit.
  3. I'm not trying to be insulting towards the other schools, just being honest about how most people perceive them as opponents. If everyone sees them as respectable OOC opponents... Even better.
  4. I don't think this was all that bad a year for OOC games. Good: Oklahoma State Indiana State Texas New Mexico State UT-Arlington (local opponent... I like playing one of the other local 3 in OOC each year) Not so good: Cameron (home opener... we want an easy win here, right?) Western New Mexico (part of the Lou Henson package with NMSU) Hartford Southern, Centenary, and A&M International (fill a gap between our Dec. 8th game and the start of conference games on Jan. 3rd. Considering attendance is low due to finals/vacation and we're getting ready for conference play... I don't mind easy guarantee games that let us tune up for the Belt schedule. I'd prefer one of these three were against another Indiana State/NMSU style opponent, though.) 5 good OOC games, either for name recognition or local value, 6 nobody schools. Not perfect... But considering that we're still building a student fan base and trying to break through locally... I don't mind having more weak sisters than we do reputable opponents. It's nice to have those 6 wins early when we're breaking in transfers and freshmen. If we shift one team per year into the Good column for the next 2-3 years, we'll have the sort of schedule everyone seems to want. In the meantime, I think we're heading in the right directon on all fronts- strength of schedule, wins and losses, local attention, and so forth. We're not there yet, so I'm not arguing with your ultimate point, Stebo. Just trying to point out that it wasn't as bad as we've seen in previous years. And we're getting better in terms of schedule and results each year.
  5. Guys... Waters made these comments to a reporter from the Daily News Journal, the newspaper for Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He's helping promote a Belt school in their local market. If he were talking to Vito for a DRC article, I'd bet that he'd reference our two Belt teams in the NCAA Tournament and then praise Johnny and RV for scheduling and beating Oklahoma State. He's just patting the Raiders on the back for making the finals and scheduling better to their hometown paper. Nothing to get worked up over here.
  6. Show some dignity, man. Remember- attention isn't love.
  7. The SBC website still says they are unannounced on the dates. But the NCAA tournament starts on March 17th next year. This year's starts on the 18th... So you can probably assume (if the schedule and timing stay the same) that the SBC tournament will likely run from March 7th-10th. It may shift a few days (later likelier than earlier), but you're looking at something including the weekend of March 7th and 8th. Plan accordingly.
  8. There wasn't room in the Mitchell Center for 10x the crowd that watched MTSU and WKU. Western Kentucky traveled VERY WELL... Over 1000 Hilltoppers by my estimate. That's not counting MTSU fans, other assorted hangers on, and the locals who came to watch despite USA being eliminated. It wasn't a packed house, but it was a respectable crowd given the circumstances. Ditto on all the comments about how the host team was in the WAC final.
  9. Speaking of "What If...?" situations... What's the grade situation on T.J. "Big Cat" Raymond? Who sits if the Big Cat is finally ready to prowl?
  10. Just out of curiosity, where are you staying?
  11. Man... I came back here to discuss where former coaches might have seen a fluffy kitten. Nevermind, I guess.
  12. Florida Atlantic politely disagrees. Also, I still see MTSU having a great OOC season. I wouldn't be surprised if they do their usual crunch time choke job in conference, but they could make some noise and get some attention early in the season by beating a few name teams OOC.
  13. I'll take the equivalent of MTSU's. Relatively regional, all winnable. They could have a GREAT OOC year.
  14. That guy better not be laughing at ME, or I've got a stone with his name on it.
  15. I'm okay with the horse collar rule. I see it as a logical extension of the face mask rule. When you tackle someone by using that part of their uniform, you expose them to exceptional and unnecessary risk of injury. If the ballcarrier gets past you, you just have to tackle them with momentum going forward, not rip them to the ground backwards.
  16. Try door #3. I think you'll be disappointed with what's behind it.
  17. Oh, the meltdown. Oh, I can't wait to witness the meltdown. No more cryptic mystery talking. I won't say it, but I'll spell it out for everyone. Here's a link to Kevin Fralicks' Athletics Department employee bio page. He's an NT alum, and he was the Director of Athletic Development. What does that mean? Well, the title means: And the "was" means that he doesn't do it anymore. He left to go work at UT-Arlington. Here's a link to where you can search for the job posting to find his replacement. Notice the open date: 1/18/08. Remember when Dickey was fired? All the discussion about the public university rules and regulations requiring a mandatory 1 month wait before filling certain positions? Because look what job opened up on 2/18/08: Mean Green Club Coordinator And who handled that job before? Click here if you're not sure! I'm sure that stadium is right around the corner!
  18. Is plan B official? Because if it is... I can't WAIT for the announcement.
  19. Despite the fact that we just shamed them... I wouldn't want to be the team that has to play Troy in the tournament. The 3 point shooting scares me. If they get hot in a game, they could outshoot almost anyone.
  20. I'm stuck at work... Again. I can't even listen tonight, so I'm reading this thread for updates.
  21. Check your email and join the roundtable.
  22. It's always tempting fate when one plays the role of spelling or grammar police. Evan Fentriss says his cousins Evan and Eric Fentress are probably pretty good players, too. (I still love you, ADLER)
