Hopefully our final scholarshIp will go to Jarred Shaw. An available Big Man at our greatest need. Was considering UNT prior to his senior year.

Thanks in advance Roger!

"The slender Shaw was hampered somewhat by Chron’s Disease, an inflammatory illness of the intenstines, which affected both his ability to gain weight and his cardio fitness."

This is definitely an issue.

Don't we need a big man now? Would Miller not be a better fit at his size and to our knowledge no medical issues. We wont start the year with T-Mich, there is talk or red shirting Robinson; this leaves us with who to play post? Hogans, Edwards, Holeman. Who else... Franklin? Knox? We need the size now if we are going to get the size

It is a point to ponder but I believe that Shaw would be better in the long run.

Next year is a rebuilding year. We should do pretty well on sheer talent but 2013 is when we should begin to blossom.

Hogans is really the only (full-time) post player for next year. Holmen might help but he seems better out on the perimeter. Knox can do some spot duty but that won't be enough. I don't see how JJ can afford to redshirt Robinson. He'll gain more from experience than by just practicing and sitting. I'll be totally shocked if Edwards ever comes near his high school ability. Frontcourt will be a weakness for sure.

Miller has a lot of potential but he's not near as polished as Shaw. He's only been playing basketball for four or five years. Would he be immediate help? Yes, but Shaw should be better long term.

True, but I have 100% confidence without a doubt that we can win the sunbelt next year! We really need help down low! Holmen can play with his back to the basket and so can Franklin and Williams, but both of thos guys are just 6' 6". Hogans needs some help under the basket for next year! I do have faith the Edwards will be a much bigger force next year. I just do not know how many minutes he can play. Shaw may be more athletic but I am liking Millers body down in the post. We need to push guys around next year. Especially in the small undersized sunbelt

Either way we go with the ship we are going to leave a hole somewhere. Our guards are inexperienced and our bigs are injury prone. If we go the transfer route that would be a BIG risk considering Franklin & Mitchell's status.

Miller's stock is rising as he is one of the few big men left in the country. Every time a big is being released , I'm sure his name is being brought up. Has a scheduled visit today w/ Southern Miss. Good news is that the coach who was recruiting him , Greg Heiar , just took a job at Wichita State. Bad news is that fellow Midland teammate , Dwayne Davis has already committed to the Golden Eagles and could influence him

As for Franklin I hear our chances are good, but this is North Texas so I'm not getting my hopes up yet

I'm losing hope on Dwight Miller. He will be visiting Tennessee next weekend

Tennessee may have just gotten a verbal from a big man Yemi. If so , I wonder if this will sway Miller's decision

* EDIT : ESPN says it's done

Signing period closes on Wednesday (May 18th).

Anyone who hasn't signed an LOI by then, they'll just be giving a verbal commitment to attend school in the fall. Not out of the ordinary... That's how we got Alzee Williams a few years ago. But nobody is truly locked in unless they sign by next week. Without the LOI, anyone could still change their minds between Thursday and September.
