It's too bad we couldn't afford all the letters.

Good points 90 Grad.
I guess it's just me. I don't think sports stories about other universities should lead in front of stories about North Texas. In fact, I don't listen to KNTU to hear about other schools. Is that a shot at KNTU ? Well, if the shoe fits. To be as fair as possible, there was a story about a North Texas track athlete well after the story about Texas and OU. I don't want to hear about the Red River game or how much assistant coaches at OU are getting as a bonus on KNTU. As I said, I listen to hear the Channel 8 news. Dale Hansen can cover Texas and OU well enough. If there's non-sports news about another university, fine. Tell me. Sports on KNTU, at least college sports, should be limited to NT.

I listen to KNTU on the way home to hear the Channel 8 news. Before the Channel 8 news comes on, they have some students reading "rip and read" news. Tonight, I heard 2 stories on Oklahoma football and one about Texas football. Not a word as to whether North Texas fields a football team or not.

I'm at the Embassy Suites Hotel in San Marcos for a conference. I understand that this hotel is the model for our new hotel. I hope so. This is very nice.
It's 10 stories and really big lobby and bar and several meeting rooms. The City of San Marcos also has their Convention Center next to the hotel. A feature sorely lacking in Denton.
I've got a really nice room. Overlooking.....a lot of flat land. I can only imagine what the view would be overlooking a brand new stadium. Especially on game day.
This hotel is owned by the same John Q. Hammons group that was to run the Embassy Suites in Denton. They have delayed the Denton project but they certainly know how to do it when they do it.
The desk clerk told me this was one of the most profitable hotels in the John Q. Hammonds stable. I bet the Denton hotel will be even better. The sooner, the better.

I didn't make my question clear. Sorry.
My question was, should the new stadium be available to the annual Kiwanis 4th of July Fireworks Show or force the Kiwanis Club to stay at Fouts Field for as long as it stands ?
This is not about touchdown fireworks, of which, I hope there will be many. Just the July 4th Kiwanis Fireworks Show.

I have no picture, but I saw workers digging a square hole about 10 yards behind the south goal post. i couldn't tell by the installation site if the Eagle would be permanent or installed only on game day.
Thanks Geezles

We were sitting aroound talking about the July 4th fireworks shows. Then I wondered if next year, with the new stadium finished, would the Kiwanis Fireworks Show move across the Interstate or stay at Fouts for as long as it stands.
It's not a question this year. But how about next year ? Fireworks at the new stadium ?

I've always resented the fact that visiting fans (football and basketball) can walk up to the ticket window 30 prior to kick/tip and get tickets in the same area Mean Green season ticket holders sit. I know the goal is to sell every ticket possible, but I'd sure to explore the notion of only selling general admission tickets on game day. Force people to either buy season tickets or sit in the end zone or with the visiting fans.

Also, notice La Tech refered to it's own conference as "they" instead of "we."

I'd love to see a link. Are these "pop-up" canopies ? Green w/ white or white w/ green ? And these are for purchase ? We're not talking rental where the Athletic Dept sets them up on game day. Mine to keep ?

Driving to work Friday, I saw a North Texas beer cooler that had blown out of a car or truck. It had "North Texas" and the new "stylized Eagle" on the side. I started to stop and pick it up. but thought it was unseemly to be chasing a beer cooler on the side of the road. I wonder where this came from ? If I can find one, I'll going to buy it. Or maybe two. Great find on the clock. Let's buy this stuff up so merchants will see that Mean Green branded merchandise will sell.

There's an easy fix for this. Just paint a sign on the front that says:
North Texas Intermural Field
The biggest non-varsity student rec field in America.

Instead of mis-saying our name, the color guy could take viewers on a quick tour of the stadium between plays and during time outs.
-
I'm sorry. I meant a seating chart with Mean Green fan's names included. Who is sitting where.
-
You may be right, but that's a lot of handicapped seats. Plus, the area with the boxes is stepped. It seems like the wheelchair accessible area would be at the top, like at the Coliseum.
-
We really need a seating chart.
Somebody ?

I stopped by the stadium last night around 8. Crews were dropping rubber pellets into the turf with a fertilzer type machine. Then, another machine with a big counter-rotating brush would sweep the pellets into the turf. The point is to make the turf stand up and provide a natural grass feel. There are about a million crates containing the video screens. Some of the Club seats are still not installed but only in part of one section.
