  1. I drove by there today (Sunday) after hearing so much about the sign. It's not finished, but judging from the brick still at the bottom of the project, I would guess it will look like the rest of Apogee Stadium. It looks like other signage in Apogee (ie. section number, concessions, restrooms, team store, etc). If you like the rest of Apogee, I think you'll like this sign. And i too wish it said north Texas instead of UNT.

  2. I got to Apogee at about 5:50 anticipating a 6:00 kickoff. When the weather delay was announced, the "wing-tron" was blank for the most part. There were a few ESPN promos and at one point stadium announcer Tim Crouch spoke welcoming everyone to Apogee. I thought the PA was very distorted for the Tim Crouch announcements. As if the volume was turned up too high or through very cheap speakers. The ESPN broadcast was better but too loud. Again, as if forcing too much power through the speakers.

As I walked in from the AC parking lot, I was impressed with how little sound came from BEHIND the wing-tron. All the sound came out to the north-where the fans are. The distortion concerns me.

  3. The play in the 3rd (I think) quarter. NT receiver was judged to be juggling the catch. Both feet got down in bounds but I thought it was a good catch. But my point is, why was that play not reviewed ? I'm a homer, so i thought it was good from the get go. But after watching the replay several times, I thought it was a catch. Whatever the call, trailing by 30+ points, what was the risk ?

  4. I think it is interesting to note that Fred Thompson knows more about North Texas that even he might realize.

He was in the Acadmey Award winning film Necessary Roughness filmed in Denton and North Texas. Thompson's career was stalled until he created the Emmy Award character that brought him international fame.

  5. If this has been mentioned before, please forgive me.

I was surprised that my parking lot assignment included a specific parking space. I understood that I'd be given a lot and to find my space within that lot. A space that I can count on and nurture as it grows up is really more than I expected.

I'll be taking pictures of my space and posting them here as soon as I can. I think I'll dress it up for it's first game. I'm just so proud.

  6. KRAM, consider this...Have the person that will flip the coin draw one coin out of a container holding all the coins. Do the coin flip, and then, put the actual coin BACK into the container with the others and mix them up. That way, each coin sold MIGHT be the actual coin used in the coin flip.

" Look at this. This might be THE actual coin used for the first game at Apogee Stadium."

  7. if you can find the old one, you'll find the new Apogee Stadium. there are lots and lots of new hotels in Denton. There's no need to stay out of town for a football weekend in Denton.

Lot's of good places to eat as well. Chain types on the Interstate and unique one of a kind on the historic Denton Square.

Holiday Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, the aforementioned Best Western, Homewood Suites, Hampton that I can think of off the top of my head. I'd stay in any of them. Apogee Stadium is about 1 or 2 miles south on I-35E (Just before 35E and 35W come together).

Denton is a fun friendly town. you'll have a good time here. Welcome. Joe
