  1. Is it out of the question that a first time head coach be offered less than a 5 year contract ? Unless she's making that much as an assistant, a $110,000 per year deal sounds great to me. And everybody wants the same thing. For NT to win. The Coach wants to win, the AD wants to win, the fans want to win, and the players want to win. So, if everybody wants the same thing, why wouldn't a 2 year contract with a 2 year renewable option be acceptable to everybody ? When acceptable progress is shown, we want to reward that coach with another 2 years. And again, this is more money that she's making as an assistant.

There's no other industry that would enter into such a deal. And the contract is ony binding on one side-the University's. If the coach gets a call from Old Dominion or Baylor, she's gone. So what does the contract really do. Except keep a bad coach in a good job. With good money.

  2. If RV and Rowlins will spend the money, and Van still wants to coach, here is my choice for the next Woman's coach. He just stepped down at LSU.

Wouldn't it be ironic if North Texas hired the Coach away from LSU ? I know, I know, he stepped down, but some how, we hired away the LSU Coach.

  3. I thought that myself as well. So I called the Ticket office. The very nice lady that I spoke with told me that seats wouold be chosen through the magic of the virtual stadium seating, since, as she said, the stadium seats would not yet be installed.

30 or so years ago, when I bought my Coliseum seats, I chose the second row so I wouldn't have to deal this the rail issue.

  4. Here's what I understand.

April 1, Mean Green Points are frozen for purposes of seat selection.

April 18, appointment times are sent out via certified mail.

Here's where I run into questions...

How can I plan for my 10 minute window of selection time May 9 ? Will I be asked to come in in the morning, noon afternoon, or evening ? Do I need to make the whole day available ?

Also, the "seat selection site" mentioned in the brochure-Where is that ? It also says a "development officer will escort the donor to the selection room." We have a development room ? I suddenly have a "Soylent Green" flashback.

Finally, I'm concerned about sitting on the front row. How high will the railing be ? Do I have to stretch to see over it or sit low in my seat to see under it.

All this, and the University is doing away with Homecoming King and Queen. AHHHH

  5. I saw it. and while any mention is better than no mention, I would prefer we be called NORTH TEX, or NORTH TX, instead of NO TEXAS.

Isn't there some Sports Information office that is supposed to get in touch with TV and radio and tell them these things ? ( ie; Mean Green, not Green Wave, UNT not NTU, the true story behind the nickname "Mean Green" )

  6. Since any "extra" money I have is going to my Stadium committment, I can't help that way. But I'm ready to stuff Kleenex in chicken wire (if that's the way it is still done) to create a float. But we've got to get word out early enough to plan, store, and work on this beast.

And I think North Texas should be the first University people think of when there is a "green" parade. Lemme know. I'll help. And I'm sure others will as well.

  7. I'm opposed to the retiring of anymore jerseys. I expect to get great HOF quality athletes for decades to come. Recognize these athletes and reord their player numbers if you wish, but stop the notion of reducing the numbers available to incoming players. This could be the differene in a recruit coming to North Texas or not.

Is there a cord or stole to recognize athletes at graduation ?
