  1. I strongly recommend to not talk with the prospects or their parents other than a hello and/or welcome to North Texas, if you are asked a question like where's a good place to eat or where the restrooms are, I would assume you could answer it, ....The rules are strick and we obviously don't want to cause any trouble. 2. Please watch for any NT football prospects at the Middle Tennessee games Saturday.....letter jackets with schools name, player # etc please pm info to my pm web site OldTimer
  3. Considering we were playing the # 4 team in the nation I am trying to look for any positives in yesterdays game. 1. time of possession...29.17 for NT vs 30.43 for Bama... 2. the 77 yard kickoff return by Ira Smith...(Yes I know there was a penalty on the return blocking in the back...which cost yardage) 3. NT did not throw an interception 4. NT did have one long drive for a TD 5. There are no more Bama's on our schedule this year 6. Kyle White turned in a good game...another DT that can hit. 7. Dunbar had 2 receptions for 40 yds, Outlaw 2 for 34 yds, Carey is turning into a solid receiver with 5 receptions for 34 yds to go with next year with transfer WR Tyler Stradford, 8. NT had only 1 fumble and didn't have a turnover...NT caused 4 Bama fumbles and lost the ball on one..we won turnover battle. 9. Tobe Nwigwe and Craig Roberson had good defensive plays. 10. Atterbery had some good punts...42 yd average. I long for the time NT doesn't play body bag games for the money.

  5. ********************************************* I agree with you on Saban running up the score...I go back to NT against Ball State and Dodge had Our QB take the knee instead of trying to run up the score at game ending and we didn't have half the score that Alabama ran up. As far as some other posts on this thread I guess we should expect Tulsa to go back to AA also since Oklahoma is beating them 45 to -0- with 9 minutes left in the game. This is what happens when a mid-major school plays the top teams in the nation. Personally I don't want to see NT play SFA or Northwestern State etc teams.

  7. I thought the game was Saturday not tonight....OH I forgot it was a Ohio Univ fan.
  8. Evidently the odds makers have NT within 1 point of Ohio...of course they picked Ball State minus 15 or 16 last week. Last year they won 4 and lost 7 losing to such teams as Wyoming, Ohio State, Northwestern, Central Michigan, Temple, W. Michigan and Buffalo several of which are pretty good teams. Last week they lost to Connecticut 16 to 23. Connecticut is in the Big East Conference. This year Connecticut lost their best Offensive and Defensive players and have just 12 returning starters. Everything said Phil Steele considers them a bowl caliber team and they beat Ohio by just 6 points. Ohio was a minus 12 in turnovers last year but has 14 starters returning. Steels' position analysis: QB Ohio has 2 experienced QBs returning RB's he thinks are vastly more experienced WR..returns its top 2 players but is more experienced OL This year they hav 5 players who are returning starters who have but 40 career starts between. They could have improved numbers if they stay healthy DL veteran group LB one of MAC top LB corps DB 2 starters return but group is less experienced. Special teams one of the MAC's top ST units. My opinion....this will be a tougher team than Ball , and could go either way.
  9. If my search was correct the score was Connecticut 23, Ohio 7 couldn't tell if it was a final or not.
  10. They laid off the reporter who covered NT to "save money". They had a very short article on our game Thursday...and the only article on the team was a 1/3 page with a picture of Todd Dodge....Riley is going to save his dad's job. I've called their sports editior and talked with her prior to our first game mentioning 35,000 students and their families and the number in the DFW area to no avail. The Telegram covers the TX Rangers and the DMN covers the cowboys and they exchange information with each other.
  11. 7:28 minutes in the 3rd quarter and Tennessee is 35 to 0....interesting that 57 of WyKY's team are freshmen...not sure if true fr or combination of fr and rsfr.

OldTimer PhD in Recruiting Group: Admin Posts: 5,334 Joined: 21-July 02 Member No.: 73 NT is recruiting and has offerred DE Anthony Gonzales at Blinn CC. 6-5, 256, 4.7 offers from NT, UAB, UH, Kansas, Tulsa, KSTate, So Miss There is a connection that MIGHT help NT ...it seems than Gonzales graduated from Copperas Cove HS........Note that NT has commitments from two Cove HS seniors...Brandin Bryd and Breland Chancellor. Want another connection? NT has also offerred DT Jonathan Mathis 6-3, 292,5.18 who has offers from UH, NT and Tulsa AND safety Justin Goodman 5-10, 192, 4.52 who has offers from Utah, UTEP and NT....all 3 players are at Blinn CC and are worthy of ship (IMHO) separately... Want another connection? NT has enrolled William Cole transfer from OK ST who attended Cedar Hill HS. NT has offered a Cedar Hill HS OG Josh Allen, a 3*, ranked #17, 6-3, 260 Whoo here...NT has on our FB squad Brandon Akpunku, James Hamilton and Tyler Washington a regular pipline for recruits...all of whom could help recruit Gonzales...who could then help recruit the other two Blinn prospects. Hopefully our commits and companion offers at Blinn and Cedar Hill will help us get Gonzales , Mathis and Goodman and Josh Allen. We can dream can't we? Can anyone else come up with some connections I have missed on current recruiting ?
  13. Does this poster have any idea of the results of dropping football? Midwestern in Wichita Falls dropped football....their enrollment dropped some 20 %. Does he have any idea of the millions of state funding NT would lose with a drop of 20% of student hours? No football players taking courses..approx 105 at NT, No FB player girl friends, and how many students will enroll elsewhere to schools that do play football. No feed for a uniformed band to play at halftime, a small pep band could play at BB...so less band members and their girl or boy friends they went elsewhere. It is noted that a few years later Midwestern did bring back football...non scholarship..and their enrolled increased but not to the 20& loss. Another school what is now UT Arlington dropped football a few years after building a nice football field...they also had a major drop in enrollment..it took over 10-15 years to rebuild student hours to what it is now. Of course they have BB...but this occurred a long time ago 15-20 years and their BB is still playing on a STAGE...although they seem to have a new arena in the forseable future. 15. Scout.com as posted earlier has 7 NT 3* prospects listed offerred and one QB from Skyline committed. Still open are 3.....3* listed: 1. C. Cedar Hill HS 2. OG Jefferson HS 3. JC WR Trinity Valley CC. It still shows a Safety from Richmond Travis HS and MLB from Cleburn HS but which do not show a known offer at this time. Keep in mind we are only aware of 47 names out of over 70 offers. ....................................................................................................................................................................................... Rivals 3* prospects: They show 7 duplicated prospects (Scout and Rivals...same players) In addition Rivals shows the following 3* prospects NT has offerred still open: 1. OT, Bentonville Ark 2. LB Klein HS 3. OT Dallas Madison 4. Ath Houston St. Prius HS 5. OT OK Jenks HS 6. OLB DeSota It also listed 3-3*players NT has offerred that have committed to other school S. Stoney Point HS S Katy HS OT Allen HS ************************************************************* combined we know of 9-3*players that NT has offered and 3 that are 3* players that do not at this time show NT offers. Always keep in mind that our QB commit from Skyline is listed as 3 * player. This report does not try to name all the 3*players NT has offered that have committed to other schools. ***************************************************************** Members can always scan our prospects by position for specific information. I try to update this information periodically. A 3* rating to me is a sign that NT is competing for quality players. In addition if you take the time to look at the offer sheet it indicates we are not really recruiting against middle level schools but the Big name schools.
  16. Today, 03:10 PM Info on Scout.com ratings. To me this is an indication of the quality of players NT is recruiting and what schools we are commiting against.I don't see any mid majors listed here. NT shows 7 NT offers to 3* players: 3 are committed to other schools...1. CB ranked # 28, Aaron Colvin to Oklahoma, 2. RB ranked # 74 James Sims to Kansas and 3. JCWR Chris Young to Iowa State 3 are still open 1 committed to NT...ranked # 81 QB Javia Hall Scout shows other prospects interested in NT but which NT has not offerred: MLB ranked# 41...open.... WR ranked #103 ..committed to A$M, Clay Honeycut WR ranked # 121...committed to Baylor Antwan Goodley Look for a Rivals 3* up date later this week.
