  1. If you hire someone like Fisher (and I favor doing so), then we better fill that stadium. And we better get to work on funding and building a new one.

Wrong, the next coach needs to provide a product worthy of filling the stadium. We give him a paycheck, and he OWES us a worthwhile product. BTW, we are working on funding and building a new stadium.

  2. Just an observation from previous years-Sturns plays like an all-star against lower competition. When things aren't going so well against better competition (Sun Belt) he starts to force things and things start to deteriorate. I have hopes he can take his incredible athleticism and dominance to the better teams we face this year as well. The talent is there.

  3. Did anyone note the number of Texas and Mettroplex players for ULL?  One lineman was 6'7" 320 pounds.

Yes, I noticed. Kids from Tyler, Carrollton, Dallas making plays. A couple were honorable mention all-sbc. I went to the ULL website and they listed 8 players from the DFW area (well the Dallas area). We have about the same from the Dallas area 8-10 (depending on where you think Dallas ends), and another 8 from the FW area.

  4. How do you sugar coat that?

Offensively we were ranked 113th nationally going into this game. Tulsa is reporting that we had 55 total offensive yards. MeanGreenSports.com reports total yards around 86 which includes return yards. Take the 55 offensive yards and average them in and we are averaging 154.3 yards per game and will be ranked last offensively at 119th tomorrow. 55 total yards against a defense that is giving up 326 yards per game and got torched for 467 last week by BYU?

    Wheel's Off!

You can't sugar coat it and I believe it is the reason attendance was so poor at Fouts last Saturday.

During our Sun Belt reign of terror years we simply had superior talent to other Sun Belt teams by a wide margin. Now that the gap in talent has closed, we see how poor the offensive scheme is. We saw it all those years against OOC foes. We were fooled by a few OOC wins when we had a crazy amount of turnovers come our way. Nothing has changed.

Unfortunately 86 total yards of offense is not shocking to me. I've become used to these type of performances.

    Around the Sun Belt tonight

FAU musters 215 yards of O against OSU

    LaMo gets 196 against Alabama

Troy manages 296 yards on Ga. Tech

FIU gets 341 against Bowling Green

MUTS get 301 against Tn Tech on Thursday

I'm not dogging Tulsa at all and I'm sure they are a fine team but SFA got twice as many 1rst downs against them as we did and more than double total yards for 185. Oh yeah, SFA is now 0-3-they lost to Delta State last week.

Our D better be pretty damn good or we are in trouble.

  5. If she's gonna cook a good dinner, you definately need to clean the kitchen. How about you cook dinner AND clean the kitchen? GreenFlag STONGLY suggest cleaning the kitchen or those dinners might not be so tasty in the future. GreenFlag also STRONGLY suggest you clean the kitchen so there is never any complaining when you get your Mean Green freak on.

And dude, if she is also part of the workforce-you f'd up BAD.

  6. I think this guy is serious. BTW Cobbs was out for the season and JaMo had 92 yards.

To be truthful I don't know if Thomas is a DIA running back. Nor Cobbs, when they both played S.Miss both had minus rushing yards Cobbs had -3 and Thomas had -7. So it may have been a blessing that you didn't get him.

    This one is even better

Have you ever seen their DEF. The top 8-10 IAA are better. Thomas couldn't crack our 3 deep at RB and wuld have to switch to FB if he wanted to see the field. And at that point he would be only 2nd string.

    Ok, some proof of sanity.

I don't know anything about Ark. St., but two years ago I was at NTSU's game at Boulder versus CU when Jamario Thomas made his first start, and he rushed for around 250 yards against a good CU defense. I was surprised he had such a poor season last year. I expect him to rebound this year. He'll be as talented an RB as we'll face - very fast and low center of gravity. I expect us to win this game, but it will not be a gimme and Thomas is capable of breaking a long one on any play.
  7. I'll take Chad Rose again. Ok, so I was a bit premature in my Sun Belt All Conference prediction for him last year. This year he shines. He ran off that supposedly all-world JUCO transfer this spring and most importantly, his parents are really cool to tailgate with. Good kid, good grades and solid player.

  8. That would be as exciting as J-Mo and Patrick Cobbs in the same backfield. Could you imagine that kind of talent, in the same backfield, at the same time?

Nothing will change this year kids. How about these bold predictions.

All the best players won't be on the field.

The offense will not be "opened up."

We will struggle mightily in OOC games.

DD will make snide comments about our institution and fan base.

All of that and guess what kids, we will win the Sun Belt!

That's it for GreenFlag's bold predictions for Mean Green Football '06.
