  1. talking about the Titans, how about the Dolphins signing Marcus Vick?? BTW I think billy Volek is a more than capable starter.
  2. the main focus should be getting into the Top4 of Conference and also into the NCAA Tournament, highest finish in Conference is 6th. Has never beaten or come close to beating a Top 75 program. Has consistently lost players each year, transfer, personal whatever. I compare to Denver b/c in 2001 both programs were equal, both had new coaches and Denver beat UNT 5-4 then. Now UNT is still near the bottom of the Belt and Denver has played in the Sun Belt Finals 2/3 year including one trip to NCAA. Somewhat easy to gain wins depending on competition and UNT has never focused on Tennis or finding/keeping experienced tennis coaches. If Coach Prevette is still here great, but improvement has to be made and retainment of players has to improve.
  3. uhhh, try 5 out of 8 seasons have been losing records. I know most like to forget about any season prior to 2001
  4. Greenster it is probably not wise to post things on here until it has been official. If your right then kudos for being an insider but if your wrong, it is not cool to post stuff like that. I have found nothing to back up your info so far.
  5. Greenster, Shoot me a PM, curious if we know each other or not.
  6. Harry is correct the 2006 version will have to be at or better than the 2004 version. Lets hope the hamstring can be healed up over the summer and we get off to a burning start in 2006.
  7. I think we may have gotten spoiled by the Soccer Teams success over the past few season, very similar to the football team. Hopefully the soccer team can continue building on the success, where the football team has not. That means make the NCAA tournament and adavnce a round or two.
  8. best of luck to Nick, I am sure all of the mean green nation will listening for Nick anf hopefully Patrick's name to be called.
  9. I can't wait for the day that we have a coach that actually goes out to try win an OOC game, not just talk about it to an alumni or reporter.
  10. Small blurb in DMN, no comments other than he was one of the better recruits in the 2006 class. UNT Blurb
  11. aww the obligatory facts come out. Would trade both of the pre-season and regular season wins for a win in the NCAA's
  12. nice to see us beat SMU again in soccer, but we have to remember unfortunately SMU beat us when all the marbles were on the table back in the fall.
  13. USC is an elite, nothing will happen to them but slap on the wrist. Would be great if there were violations for Bush top be stripped of Heisman, and USC/PAC 10 stripped of the BCS Bowl money. Alas it will never happen with the hypocrisy called the NCAA, they have other little fish to fry.
  14. Ladies lost to FIU 4-0, rather quick match. FIU beat Troy later in the day 4-0 They will play Denver in the finals today. Of note in 2001 UNT lost to Denver in a 8th/9th place match 4-3. Both schools had new first-time head coaches, now Denver is on the verge of making its 2nd straight NCAA appearance and has been ranked in the Top 50 in the nation. UNT on the other hand has still yet to defeat any Top 75 team and are finishing this season with their worst record in a number of years. This year they had injuries and players leaving that hurt the depth. They lost their #3 player from last year before the season, their current #3 left at the semester break, and their #6 player from last year was lost for the year. They did have 2 freshmen come in this year that played 1-4 all year which is promising, but they need some serious help at the top of the line-up. A strong #1 is needed, lets hope the team can pick itself back up next year.
  15. Nice surprising win since MTSU blew them out in their matches over the previous years. Hope they can make a stand against FIU. I wonder why the tournament no longer plays more matches, as recent as 2004 teams were basically guaranteed 2 matches now it is possible for a team to fly in and play one match of maybe 2 hrs and then be done. Lack of courts is definately not an issue since the Mobile tennis center I believe has 35+ courts. Also noticed SHSU swiped a local player right out from under us, Rowlett Senior who finished 3rd at 5A state last year. Oh well recruiting on our doorstep is not a strong suit.
  16. Women's Tennis can have upto 8 scholarships to use Men's Tennis is 4.5 scholarships Most schools will typically use all 8 scholarships, but some do not/did not choose too. I know Sam Houston in the last 7-8 years moved from 6-8, Centenary only awards 2.5, WKU last check was only 4. Also winners of Conference Tournament do get berths into the NCAA tournament.
  17. as the #9 seed out of 10 teams and will face #8 MTSU in the first round. #10 Seed is Western Kentucky, who if I remember only offers 4 scholarships a year, half of allowed. #7 is Arkansas State, #6 UALR, #5 Troy, #4 ULL, #3 USA, #2 Denver, #1 FIU If UNT manages a win they will play FIU in second round, they lost to FIU 7-0 earlier in the Spring.
  18. The shoe sure does seem to fit right now.
  19. Men finish in 3-Way tie for 1st place fall to 2nd on 2nd playoff hole. Women finish 2nd by 3 shots at Sun Belt Championships Finally some good news out of Mean Green Sports Country Mean Green Golf
  20. Maybe the AD and the rest of the Athletics Department and for that matter University as a whole are taking the DD approach of ignoring the F****** out supporting the school. Of course I think LJ probably has a hand in the recent stagnation of Athletics here.
  21. I would say 90% of the coaches in 1A and 1-AA do this and obviously UNT is in the 10% who just do not get it.
