  1. Stars aren't my team, but I do keep an eye on'm a bit. No way are the Ducks done, but if Dallas gets by Anaheim I think they have a decent shot at taking the West.
  2. I believe we have the talent next year to compete for the division once again even with our thin frontline. Especially if Odufwa is as good as advertised. The shakey guys we've gotten so far is a concern, but it's much too early to get too worried. Last year I think we had 1 player at this point...everyone was worried...and then we arguably landed JJ's best class.
  3. We definitely need size which he has. Doesn't have a great stat line though. Other than ASU I wonder who we're up against.
  4. Exactly, the only JJ in my lexicon is Johnny Jones. June = Summer Season Jones
  5. Weren't we in the hunt for the conference title last year?
  6. Wasn't looking for admiration. I just knew in my gut he wasn't leaving. It's tough to leave a job like that. Kansas wasn't gonna let a coach who just won a national title just walk away either.
  7. It's kind of hard to fairly judge Slinker in alot of ways. Her all time record is like 40 games under .500 but for her first 7-10 years she didn't get much support. Just when she probably would've been put on the hot seat the football & men's bball squads were sucking so bad she sorta flew under the radar. Then we had a few good recruiting casses and she had a very good run from about 1998 thru 2002 which won her some fans and time. But from 2003 to present day we basically went back to down seasons except for the 2006 Division championship. I wouldn't say she was a TERRIBLE coach, but I'd find to hard to call her very good either. And just to clarify I've defended Tina an awful lot thru the years...I was in school for several of her good teams in the '98-02 run - and that was practically the only time I could consistently go root on a winner. So I have alot of good will built up for her I'd say.
  8. Still hoping for Capps, but all four appear more than capable.
  9. Meangreensports said about 300.
  10. Roy Williams left Kansas for his alma mater - which was also a top 6 job(arguably higher if you really wanna rank UNC, UCLA, Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, & Indiana - I tend to lump them together as THE dream jobs for most college coaches). And he'd already turned them down once a few years earlier. Honestly, I think a big part of him still resides in Lawrence(cheering in the title game for KU while his team was already back in Chapel Hill) - and always will.
  11. As I said in another thread a few days back...yes OSU is a bigtime basketball school. I'd say it's one of the top 25-30 jobs in the country all factors included. And yes, Pickens U can throw endless piles of cash around. AND it's his alma mater. But Kansas is a top 6 job. I just don't see him voluntarily leaving it for another school in his own conference.
  12. Doesn't mean we're not all thankful for the committment and time she spent at NT. She might not have been a good coach, but she graduated girls & always was a good ambassador for the school. She held an admin position for awhile, and even woulda taken one after her coaching contract was terminated. I mean after 19 years, good or bad, she proved she really cared about our institution. You can want someone to move on and still appreciate them.
  13. Nice to hear Slinker was well recieved. All the Men's Awards were well earned. Bravo to the seniors.
  14. Is Slinker even there? If not, who talked about their season?
  15. You don't usually voluntarily leave a Top 6(Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas, UNC, Duke, UCLA) job unless it's to the NBA. Roy Williams left Kansas for another top 6 job...the 2nd time they asked. He turned them down in 2000 after an intense courtship. If SMU's current leader hadn't been a bust in Carolina Williams never woulda left Lawrence.
  16. It seems like it'll be Trent Johnson.
  17. I don't know....JJ isn't even on the LSU radar on the board I've been lurking on the last couple of weeks. Then again they still haven't given up on VCU's Grant, and that ship left port awhile ago.
  18. Thanks man - I'll look forward to it.
  19. Anyone going tommorrow?
  20. You can take the option that if you call a timeout there you also let Kansas have time to draw up a play. The foul/not foul with a 3 point lead at the end of a game is one of the most debated strategies in college basketball. Alot of coaches seem to be on the side of letting it play out vs the foul. Others scream out FOUL!!!!! I actually think the strategy to employ is foul inside of 5 seconds...but any more than that let it play out. That puts the Memphis scenario last night right on the edge either way because Chalmers didn't even let the shot go till it was about 4-5 seconds left AND he was behind the 3 point line - setting up a 4 poit play possibility. If you foul the man dribbling up the court you leave way too much time on the clock for either a miss/rebound/putback OR a hit FT/put you back on the line(where you've been sucking).
  21. I don't think he leaves.
  22. That really was an amazing game...especially the last 4-6 minutes of regulation. Memphis goes on the run...then Kansas does...then Memphis's FT shooting once again shows how bad it was all season. And the amazing 3 with two seconds.
