  1. BINGO. This is a big part of the problem.
  2. Zach Orr - 8-solo. 4-assisted. Including a nice play where he ran Hilton down from behind on the end-around and tackled him at the 1 yard line rather than letting him prance on in.
  3. Hah! NT wins this game by at least 100... Unless we're playing hockey. Then we lose by 50. Just sit big Tevin Cantly in Goal and see if they can hit it around him. I bet Dunbar would net at least 1 goal. He's just that good.
  4. oh yeah. I could use a blizzard at Apogee for sure!
  5. OK. Now we agree. I don't think anyone can argue that the Dodge era was a success or made any inroads in conference realignment. Thanks for the painful memories though. Also, your clarification at the bottom of this post is what I was looking for. The Dodge years are not the reason why UNT is not in the Big 12 discussion. Part of it? Sure. The sole reason? Not even close.
  6. I'll be at Rudy's in Denton taking in some bbq, cold shiner, and AC with the Mean Green...at least for the first half. We may head to the stadium at halftime.
  7. Shirley, I can interest you in some UTSA season tickets? They're really the hot item right now.
  8. No. Surely you're not serious?
  9. True. There are only so many "UNT's New Stadium..." and "UNT's New Coach..." stories that the wayward sports fan would want to read about. Maybe they can sneak in a Lance Dunbar story every once in a while. Start winning, and then the team becomes interesting to that same fan. Keep winning and maybe certain star players will become interesting as well. Beat Alabama and UNT will be on the front page with a huge headline. It's all about winning. The right attitude, coach, & stadium is in place. Now win.
  10. Meaning he's the 68th best player in Texas. Compared to last years rankings of: #7 Jordan Williams #24 Chris Jones #32 Forrest Robinson I think Pye is rated pretty low as well. JJ must really see something in these guys to go after them so early.
  11. Yes, but EXPERIENCE augments and increases TALENT. I agree with the rivals ratings, etc... obviously our guys are super talented and I'm really excited to see them play this year. I expect to see some big things. They may just be inconsistent. Experience is the factor. T.Mitchell is going to be great. No doubt. I really hope he sticks around after this season. If so, then 2012-13 will be the year for the big expectations. R.Franklin has not even been confirmed to play this year. He played 13 min/game last year. Maybe he wasn't utilized properly, or maybe his heart was heavy with what's going on with his dad... we'll need to see more from him, if we get to see anything this year at all. J.Patton was an all-conf. player at Grambling. It looks like he was relied upon to score in bunches. We probably won't need him to do that here. His role will probably be different than his role at Grambling. Can he work in JJ's system? JJ seems to think so, but we just don't know. Also, I'm less confident that he'll get a waiver for this season than I am for Franklin. B.Walton had us scratching our heads when he committed. I hope he can be a McCoy/Mangrum type player for us, but I'm not expecting much more from him. The Frenchman? He was struggling at Lon Morris. I expect Knox type minutes. The returning players are injury-riddled (hopefully healthy now) and I expect to see Ked, Holmen, Edwards and Alzee turn it up a notch. That just comes with experience. The rest of the guys are VERY PROMISING, VERY TALENTED freshmen. They will need that experience to grow at the collegiate level. I expect, with their talent, that the learning curve will be steep, but they're still freshmen. We're expecting a freshman to start at PG. Do you think he'll have his hands full when he lines up against conference foe Raymond Taylor, among others next year? I do. He'll get better though. Line this years team up against the 2009-2010 team, and I'll bet they lose. Why? Experience has a lot to do with it. Are they more talented *-wise than this years group? Not even close. But they proved it on the court. I just don't want to see the last group of guys forgotten so quickly. Heck, Josh White even mentioned that they heard the rumblings of the incoming class and T. Mitchell while they were still playing last year.
  12. People really need to understand that EVERY TV Market in Texas is already big 12 saturated. There is no big 12 team in Dallas, yet what do we see? UT. A&M. OU. The only thing it would do is help some poor non-autoqualifier school (be it UNT, UH, SMU, UTEP, whatever). The logical choice for the big 12 is to take BYU and their nationwide Mormon following (albeit not as big as ND's Catholic following). Add BYU once A&M leaves and call it a day. I can't believe i stooped to conference re-alignment talk...
  13. How do you know? All we know about SEVERAL of these guys is how they played in HIGH SCHOOL. You mean to tell me that this team is more talented (without even seeing them hit the floor) than 2009-10? Tramiel, Odufuwa, White, Thompson... Really?
  14. How bout working stiffs who want to go on vacation AND watch Mean Green football?
  15. Plus, who would rather go to Murfreesboro over Hawaii? Vacation/Mean Mean Green football in the same trip!
  16. I had a hankerin' for some barbeque anyway. Looks like I'll be at Rudy's on Thursday night. Hope to see some of you there.
