  1. I would say guys that took over numerous games and greatly affected almost every game, whether they were having good games or not as good games. That's why I believe Zach Orr and Chancellor are Hall of Famers. Not really going out on a limb there, but they play their butt's off at all times and they affect games no matter what. Even when Chancellor's stats aren't great for a game you know he affected the play calling of the opposing defensive coordinator and special teams which usually opens things up for other players and helps the team. Same thing for Zach. There are some other guys who have HOF potential on this team but they're younger or not quite seniors, but for sure Orr and Chancellor have proven themselves to be those type of game changer/HOFers. Hard to say the next time we'll get guys like Orr or Chancellor, but we will have guys who can change games and are worthy of HOF status in the future. Teams constantly putting 8 and 9 in the box throughout DT's career doesn't bode well for his HOF status.
  2. I agree with you 100%. And I've been really proud of DT especially this year as well. The hall of fame isn't for bus driver QBs and solid players. It's for guys who take over games, especially at QB which is probably the easiest position to take over a game.
  3. You have my favorite view of DT, and you know you're stuff so that's part of the reason (I'll get off your jock now). People act like there's no middle ground with DT. It's either praise him as a hero or you're a DT "hater". He is a decent qb, but there's also a reason he's thrown 11 picks. A decent qb on a team that is special almost everywhere else kind of stands out. I support the heck out of the guy and glad he's maximized his talent for us.
  4. As far as why they quit I'm not exactly sure. Kelley quit last year iirc and I think he may not have gotten his scholarship removed but he's still at UNT. Horton quit because of a shoulder injury but if I had to assume I'd say they quit because they were buried on the depth chart and lost the love for the game. It happens. You don't hit on all of your recruits but that's okay.
  5. He isn't on the team anymore. I see him, Xavier Kelley, and Brad Horton playing basketball at Pohl a lot. Usually during the time the football team is practicing. He also isn't on the roster anymore. Going into spring practice this year we'll have just 6 scholarship receivers. Carlos Harris, Darvin Kidsy, Darius Terrell, Derrick Teagarden, Turner Smiley, and hopefully Rod Lancaster back from injury. This is assuming we don't bring in any mid-term enrollee JUCO receivers. Lancaster has been injured almost his entire two years here, but hopefully he can make a comeback. Fonzale and Goree will compete for a starting spot if they come in and Rutherford, Goree's teammate, could get some immediate playing time as well. Reel in those three guys and we'd be as set at wide receiver as we could hope to be despite losing the receivers that we do.
  6. If ever there was time to give someone best answer on a thread
  7. Bringing Tee and Fonzale in would be a huge boost to our offense for next year. Read jnto the 247 crystal ball predictions as much or little as you want, but it's big that a Colorado insider predicted him to us since Colorado and Colorado state have gone after him the hardest right there with us. Goree has the speed to be a burner and is a pretty solid route runner for a high school kid. Hope we get him and his teammate Rutherford.
  8. Speaking of Derek Thompson, shouldn't he be more of a dual-threat qb with the black jerseys?
  9. They used to be MAC back in the Pennington to Moss and Byron Leftwich days. Anyone know or remember why they left in the first place.
  10. I don't shutter at what our record might be because we've been much better than most of our opponents that we've beat except for Ball State, Rice, where DT didn't do much, and wasn't asked to do much, at all but we won. But I agree that it's silly and ridiculous to bash DT. I'm done saying critical things of his play in this thread, but just know that people being critical of his play is not the same as bashing him and calling for him to be replaced.
  11. Honestly, both going the other way probably would've swung the game in our favor. That's what makes that game so frustrating, among other reasons. You never know either, since the pick six could've been a 14 point swing if we would've scored a td that drive. Just rough all around.
  12. People say qbs get too much blame for losses and too much praise for wins. They're the most important position and there's a reason why their success is so directly correlated with the team's. The defense only gave up 10 points against Tulane. DT gave up 7 on the pick six. Also, no one blames the personal fouls because they were bogus calls and a sign of assertion from a lights-out defense. You're right that we shouldn't single him out, but that's a big let down for the team. He's also helped us win 6 games through 9 so there's no need to complain. That's why no one really has. Our receivers, running backs, o-line, defense, and special teams have been top-notch and as good as you could ask for. DT hasn't been as good as you can ask for but he's been good enough. That's why he's an "elephant in the room" and not a guy who we're calling for his replacement.
  13. You're partially right, but as long as we have the Texas schools in CUSA west we should be fine. USM is a program that can be very successful, but I really do feel that we have the highest ceiling of any school in our division. Maybe even the conference. As for the East I hope Marshall stays in CUSA at least as long as we do. I could see us being the top dog in the west and them in the east, making for a good chance of us matching up in the championship game fairly often. Although MUTS and WKU are solid as well as FAU being in the come up.
  14. Yup. One FCS win can count towards your 6 for bowl eligibility per year.
  15. No hate for Derek. We all support him and are proud of the wins he has gotten us. As a critical football fan it's not hard to see that there is as much room for improvement at our qb position, the most important position in football, as there is at any position on our entire team. Doesn't mean he's bad as he is. We just have a solid team.
  16. Great way of putting it. So was greenminer's statement on the first page. Am I the only one who wonders what our record would be if Berglund wasn't in the dog house and had been our starter all year? Maybe we lose the ball state game but I think we'd still have all of our other wins and would've won the Tulane game and maybe the Ohio game. All speculation with very little backing but that's what I feel. Those pick sixes cost us both games. I don't know if we'd be better with another qb on our roster under center, but I know with things the way they our we have a chance to win CUSA. We might be in an even better situation, but the situation we're in right now is pretty good. Even if DT isn't the main reason we're in this position.
  17. Not sure you can call UTSA a trap game really. They're our best opponent left on our schedule and everyone knows that. Trap game is more so a game where a team overlooks an opponent because the next team or teams on their schedule are harder games. At least IMO.
  18. 49-0 we win. My one wish is that we finish drives with touchdowns. If we can get in the endzone and not settle for field goals then we'll win this one and the next two going away.
  19. They might feel better when they see us win, but when they win they probably feel worse about it. I hope we're the only team that beats them all year. More good pub for us during bowl season.
  20. True. At least depending on if they can keep June Jones and stay competitive.
  21. Love that Ball State game. Was a great home test early in the year against a solid non-conference opponent and was still winnable. Oh yeah, and that was there only loss of the year so far. We need to be able to schedule more early non-conference tests like that. Easier said than done, but that proved it can be done.
  22. They were home vs West Virginia. But yeah, I'd like to think we could've pulled out one of those games.
