  1. Mccrary's right at the the top of my wish list for this class. I think he'll be a day 1 contributor at safety if we can land him, and legitimately capable of playing either safety position. He could play receiver as well, but I really believe his potential is greatest at safety. Once again, really hope this guy is a class priority.

  2. I think he's looking at our skill position signees. No one questions their talent. How are we doing in the trenches?

This year should be a good indicator of that question. Looks like we're going to sign a lot of linemen this year, on both sides of the ball. As for last year, not very highly rated d-line signees, but they look promising. Tillman Johnson lived in the backfield and had 37 TFLs and TJ Tauaalo was honorable mention all-state at DT.

Fun fact: Offensive lineman Chris Miles had the most offers (listed) of all our 2014 signees.

  3. 6'3" 215 lb player from Fort Bend/Missouri City Elkins high school. Plays on the d-line but could project to linebacker in college. Pretty good closing speed. Apparently had a 39.7" vertical at the Houston Sparq combine and ran a 4.68 40 (laser-timed). Sparq score actually ranked right up with the top ones in the country. Also holds a Colorado State offer.

  4. 6'4" 330 lb offensive lineman from Houston. Was 1st team all district 21-5A last year as a junior. Plays left guard for his high school, and likely will stay at guard in college. Pretty quick for a 330 lb kid. We are his second offer, with La Tech being the other.

  5. 6'3" 180 lb receiver. Did I mention we were targeting a lot of outside receivers? Ranked 91st in the preseason Texas Top 100 on rivals. Had 1025 yards receiving and 15 td catches on 60 receptions. Also holds offers from Houston, Illinois, and Fresno State.

  6. 6'3" 235 lb defensive end from Itawamba CC in Mississippi. 1st JUCO d-line offer for this class, to my knowledge. Also holds offers from Southern Miss and Southern Alabama. Looks like he'd come in with 3 years to play 2 seasons (come in as a true junior).

  7. He did, but he was handed a program built by someone else. He didn't pull a Benford, true, and he did take it to the next level, but can he recruit and develop talent? Is one year enough to answer those questions?

Looking more and more like Underwood will be answering those questions against us, at Southern Miss.
  8. I also expect TCU to have to hold on to him with more major on the way. Seems to be a better fit at OSU for some reason.

Pretty sure by OSU you meant Oklahoma State, but Ohio State just offered. I don't think TCU holds on to him, especially if he has a big senior season.

With another key player arrested and kicked out of the program, TCU is really struggling since joining the Big 12.

  9. We should stalk MWC teams and see who they offer. Aside from Boise we should be a contender in recruiting with any other MWC school, a legitimate contender.

It looks like we're going the opposite direction (East) with our out of state offers, besides Oklahoma of course. We appear to be recruiting the southeast a little, which I love. Got some offers out in Georgia, North Carolina, Louisiana, potentially Florida, and we appear to have an eye on states like Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama.

That's where we should do our out of state recruiting IMO. With our exposure in those states only getting better due to being in CUSA, we can steal kids out of our conference mates backyards without having to put a ton of resources into those states like we did with Louisiana a couple years ago. Very rich states in HS football talent, whereas most Mountain West schools have to do most of their recruiting in California, which is a little out of our exposure range.

  10. If we can't beat New Mexico in a recruiting battle then we might have a problem.

They've since chosen to transfer here, but out of high school they choose New Mexico over us.

Last class we kicked their tail in recruiting. They got Aaron Jenkins over us, but our offer to him came early and I don't think we were actively recruiting him anymore at the time he committed to UNM.

We did, however get Chris Miles, Willy Ivery, and Fonzale Davis (they offered after he committed to us) over New Mexico last class.

My point is, you're right. We should be beating them. Unfortunately it hasn't exactly been a sure win returning against them. This class should be a big step up for us, which means not just beating bigger schools out for recruits, but winning these type of battles every single time. Bullying some teams on the recruiting trail.

  11. 6'4" 188 lb receiver from Moore, Oklahoma, Westmoore high (our 2014 signee Jalen Adams was from Southmoore high). Had 700 yards and 10 touchdowns on 40 catches last year, according to his highlights. Again, yet another tall, outside receiver we've offered, per UNTRecruitingnewz on twitter.

Number 5 in the preseason Oklahoma top 15 on rivals tha I just posted. Offer list also includes Louisville, Kentucky, Illinois, Cincinatti, Kentucky, and Tulsa among others.

  12. The 2-day tournament I am referencing was for guys who don't have any offers, small school offers and/or have not committed. (over 200) There was no reason for someone with multiple offers to play in this tournament. I got to believe there must be other issues because there were several D-1 mid-major talent there. (hence, several available big men) 1 guy I thought was a high-major talent
