Do we have something in common concerning conference? I feel if we don’t get into this PAC affiliation NOW , we are going to be stuck in a Sun Belt type conference for a long time. This could be a one shot deal! GMG

The 6 new additions, UNT, UTSA, FAU, Charlotte, UAB and Rice would probably be the schools on the endangered list. If the PAC 4 takes all the programs that were in the conference before Cincy, Houston , and UCF left, which 3 of the recent additions are taken which gets them to 11 yes votes? NOT Charlotte, FAU or UNT, so it could happen unless the AAC says all or nothing as the MWC did, which got them dropped as a potential landing spot for all 4 PAC programs.
Tulsa? Really!

There is going to be a structure of teams getting different %’s of the pay out. That is fine, but there needs to be a high exit fee and a long notice requirement.

Ok so, what does SMU offer that UNT doesn’t? Is it the money? Because what I’m seeing is we are a Tier 1 research university and SMU is Tier 2. We are both in the same “Dallas” market, but we have a larger student body and alumni to put eyes on the screen for games and easily cover the attendance that SMU could offer. Also, I don’t see how this really helps the cost of travel for the west coast teams. I mean if you are flying to New Orleans to play Tulane, what’s another 1-1/2 to Miami?
With the exit fees the PAC gets and SMU backing you are talking a lot of money up front. This could supplement exit fees. They could cherry pick the AAC and later the MWC. Is Apple TV still in play?

I smell $MU big time on this! If you can’t get into a conference, create one!

Don’t give up espn. I would rather stay were we are with no changes!

I have to think SMU would like to see a reformed PAC and I wonder how much $$ they are willing to throw at it Lting see it get done.

So if it is a merger, do we take the PAC name or AAC? And who would run the conference?
I have to think the PAC 12 commish is in hiding!

The PAC4 and the MWC need central time zone games to get more eyes. This is one of the reasons for the failure of the PAC12. Join the AAC then in 2025 cherry pick the MWC.

I think if you add the Pac4 they would want a commit to raid the MWC when the time is right.

The ACC and PAC-12 are in very different positions. The PAC-4's problem is they can't simply raid the MWC to rebuild. When the SEC & Big 10 raid the ACC ten years from now the ACC will be able to raid the American, Sun Belt and CUSA to rebuild.
As stated a lesser capacity! They won’t remain a P5

The ACC is the next PAC12. Again time zones matter. They will survive in a lessor capacity. If only OSU and WSU join, down the road we could cherry pic the MWC.

If Stanford and Cal go Indy is OSU and WSU still worth the addition?

The sentiment I am hearing is that ESPN would be willing to up the ante. Partially because they feel guilty about what they did to the forgotten four.
The new AAC with the addition of the West Coast 4, could have games all day long within the different time zones. Maybe somewhat like the B12 model. The newbies would also get more national exposure since they would not be stuck in the west coast time zone. GMG

The old saying “Money Talks BS walks” this has always been in their presentation as it was for the PAC 12. They don’t need the money, but they do need the recognition. I hope they get their wish.

Average home field attendance. WSU 26185, OSU 28,400, Cal 38,596, Stanford 35,684. These numbers are dismal when you consider the level of competition visiting their home field. The biggest issue for the PAC12 and MWC has always been their time zone.

I always thought with his heritage and personality he could be the face of CFL! Outstanding!

If Ruder is the starter ( I hope) then he won by being greatly improved or maybe by being coached up!

In reality, the remaining PAC 4 teams have no interest at all in being associated with the MWC or AAC. The 4 of them are using both of the conferences to buy them time and see what they can come up with in a short and/or long term plan. I think PAC has gotten hit so bad that I'm not sure the conference survives b/c it's not like they'll be able to command any sort of good TV deal that they've been used to getting.
Of course if you're commissioners of the MWC and AAC respectively, you at least show that you're trying and make calls but I don't have any reason to think the remaining 4 PAC teams have any interest in being associated with the MWC and AAC.
If somehow they end up in one place or the other, they will bolt the first chance they get to get associated back with the traditional P5 schools.
Exit fee!

MWC absorbs OSU and WSU all other teams from the PAC are gone. I still think there is value in the MWC and AAC forming some kind of alliance. Nice to be thought of! GMG SMU must be butt hurt!!!
