  1. Who do we compete against and how in the NIL world. I feel in the AAC, as far as financial and facilities we should be in the top 1/4's of the conference, C-USA and lower we should be able to dominate. The P5 conference I hope we can compete by offering less money and starting, or maybe even being a star on the team and conference. I'm sure this is what they are telling and offering Rod. At 6' (?) tall how many P5's are going to offer $1m at 6'2" he would be gone. I love the guy! GMG

If you're wondering how much money is being thrown around for these top players.

(I wonder how many of these offers flop?)

I thought Cam was entering the draft? I’m seeing he would be a first rounder. As for Mac, we have always been able to attract WR’s and RB’s. With this offense maybe more so, than in the past. Good luck! GMG

I truly, truly do hope he stays for the promise that things could be amazing, but I guess if I were making a point it's that we need to pay to keep him. And we should.

We also need to pay for some very large and angry O/D Line players.

If we aren't paying, we aren't really playing (I hate myself for even typing that sentence, damned NIL)

Agree, I have always stated NIL should go to QB and DL. Now add 1-2 linebackers.

That's why you're sitting behind a keyboard and A&M's AD gets to make the hire.  Elko is a solid hire.  Maybe not as good as Mark Stoops, but solid.

Jimbo was a solid hire. Keep doing what you have always done and keep getting the same results. That's why you are sitting behind a keyboard following me.

I might be a drama king, but be honest with yourself.  If you had an amazing season and a P5 called you up for $200k, would you even blink before saying yes?

Either we pay or he walks. That's the (unfortunate) reality now. There is no team loyalty anymore, just what the player can get.

Shorter? Qb doesn't want to sit on the bench. If Rod can have a  the same type of per game stats and we have a half ass D, he would get some pro looks.

There’s a great article by Tim Cowlishaw in today’s DMN on A&Ms hire. A few things he points out:

    * In the 40 years of the SWC before WWIi, Aggie only won two SWC titles.

    * In the 80 years after WWII, they had one decade of success with 7 titles between 85 and 94, but never came close to a National Championship.

    * During their time in the BigXII they had one conference championship.

    * In 16 years in the SEC, they have never been very close to a conference championship.

    * Coaches cannot automatically bring success from previous schools as they will no longer have the assistants, staff, and institutional structure that supported them before. All of those things must be rebuilt and that will almost certainly take years to accomplish.

Here's a link, but it is behind a paywall.

The big difference now for A&M is unlimited NIL dollars. This is a boring hire and for kids today that matters at the P5 level.

if were up to WT, we'd completely abandon HS recruits.  Strictly portal/xfers.

Would like to see 60-70% transfers. Would never sign a HS qb or d lineman. Would allocate NIL $ to those 2 positions. Is Lashlee a better coach or is it because he brought in 17transfers in 22 and 23 transfers in 2023. SMU will be one of the best coaching position in college football with unlimited $$$ available.
