  1. I was to recieve the green ones yesterday, talked to supplier yesterday morning, waited for a phone call all afternoon, nothing. Nothing today either. Don't know why? Stay tuned. Rick
  2. That's great Chad, I had forgotten about that report. Good stuff. Rick
  3. As MedPilot said, can't see how they could forget Joel? Probably just a new reporter? Hopefully the BlueRaiders will forget about Joel too....again! Rick
  4. Plum, you left off the fourth veteran of the O line. Our Center, Chad Rose is the only rookie. Per MeanGreenSports.com "Joel Foster also started every game last season for the Mean Green and was able to hone his craft as the season progressed. A converted defensive end, the tackle graded out better than 80 percent in four of the last five games. In his best game of the season, Foster graded out at 89 percent and led the team with 21 knockdowns in the regular season finale at Arkansas State." Rick
  5. Good riddance. If you weren't BCS, you didn't exist to this guy anyway's. I hope he goes away...for good! Rick
  6. Very true, which is why I don't think this game's outcome sway's in the balance of how Danny Meager does. Because he won't be allowed to. Our defensive play is the key to this game. As I typed earlier, look at how Andrew was managed in '02. He was mananged by not having the pressure on his shoulders by having the Emerald Express run the ball, running the clock, punting it back to play the field position wait-and-see game and playing defense at the top 10 level. You can go back through history and see many teams at any level who has faced a similar QB situation as ours in which they were managed by minimizing their opportunity to make mistakes. And while I agree with Harry about Danny's speed, and I too look forward to seeing it some day, we won't see it this coming saturday. And I'm sure Ramon and DD don't want to see it either. That's what the Emerald Express and SPJMo are for. Considering that the Middle fans are use to seeing the ball getting passed around all over the place, it's a safe bet that they are in for a real treat at how the other side of the coin operates. How's the song go? "Run the ball, Run the clock, Play the Conservative D!" Rick
  7. It's scary how very similar The Middle and North Texas are in many ways? Rick
  8. Interesting. Just a gues here but I think we have done the same thing in the past from the 3-4 when Booger was here. That may be what we saw at times when Booger would all of a sudden drop back in a passing lane. I'll never forget one play against Idaho in which he dropped back 3 to 4 yards at the snap of the ball, then a WR running a cross and up caught the ball just behind Brandon only to have Booger run him down from behind before the guy could get going. Rick
  9. I'm predicting we will see a lot of the 2002 season with our QB play this year. I can't find the stats on it but I remember Andrew wasn't allowed to throw the ball much at all against Nichols State. Then as the season wore on and he learned the system better he threw more. Towards the end of the season he really got to show his talents and it started with the game against the Middle in which he completed 14 passes for 206 yards and two TD's. He ended up with the second highest QB rating for the conference that year. Final stats were: In 13 games Andrew Smith had, 196 attempts 91 completions 9 Int's 1206 yards 7 TD's. That's averaging only 15 passes a game, and this by a guy who could freaking wing the ball on a rope with accuracy anywhere on the field. Who knows how damn good Andrew could have been with the pass? We will never know of course. The 2002 season certainly was no measure? To me I see this as the track Danny will be put on as well. If so and you go with our history, you can expect between 8 to 10 passes total in this game. DD believes in the Darrel Royal philosophy that "three things can happen when you pass the ball and two of them ain't good". EAT UP THE CLOCK AND RUN BABY RUN!!!!!!!! Rick
  10. Recent ESPN article on the Green Wave. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/stor...ivan&id=2152366 Rick
  11. I saw the Koppel interview. That was an interview with a local contractor overseeing possible repairs of the SuperDome. He was guestimating that it was too destroyed to repair but didn't sight anything to base it on other than the roof covering was torn off. I'm figuring, of course he would say that, he probably stands a chance at getting the contract. The same thing was said about the Bank One Tower in Ft Worth a few years ago after the tornado hit it. It took a lot more damage than what seems the Superdome has had. They were all set up with a date and everything to implode it but didn't and it's now a highrise full of luxury condo's. Rick
  12. Gary Reeves of Channel 8 news rode out with the USAR team from Fort Worth, showed it on the 5 o'clock news. Should repeat tonight at 6p.m. and 10p.m. Rick
  13. Hey I was up there too and saw you. Is that what the lady standing there with the calender was for? Rick
  14. Just got a call from an alumn who said the Footlocker at Hulen Mall had some sweet NT T shirts. Said they are the lighter green with black accents. He said they are not extremely bright, but Michigan State bright, in fact he first thought it was a MSU shirt. He said it has "Property of North Texas Athletics" on the front with the "Son of Worm" in a small print size at the bottom. Said the black really looked good with that shade of green(are you paying attention here Craig!?). They are currently two for $20. He said they are impressive and was going to buy two of them. Rick
  15. That's the point of the SBC scheduling this game now. Trying to someone, anyone to finally knock us off. I'll say it again, the MUTS have 18 returning starters including their QB. We couldn't be any more vulnerable right now. With all of the holes we have had to fill this season if they can't beat us this time they might as well hang it up. Rick
  16. We recieved this email today. Rick The following is an update as of 7:30 p.m., Sunday September 4. There were no injuries to task force members today. TX-TF1 US&R Team (80 members): Texas Task Force 1 US&R team continued clearing homes and apaprtment buildings in the same downtown New Orleans area in which they worked yesterday. There were more than 100 rescues, while many more individuals were given the opportunity to leave their homes, but chose not to at this time. The total rescued by the 7 task forces and 8 swiftwater teams numbers in the thousands. The last report recieved yesterday said that, since Tuesday, well over 4,000 people had been rescued by these combined task forces. TX-TF1 swiftwater Strike Team (41 members): The swiftwater team rescued approximately 300 people today. They were surrounded by several members of foriegn media outlets throughtout the day. These media members happend upon the swiftwater team and followed them for part of the day. PEP POD A third type of emergency assistance has been deployed by TEEX to Louisiana. Six member of the Pre-positioned Equipment Program Package On Demand (or PEP POD) are en route to Louisiana at this time. They will perform a much needed resupply mission for emergency first responders. This program is separate and apart from the TX-TF1 team currently on scene. We still, at this time have been given no specific information on a deactivation dat and time. However, we have been told that details on a demobilization date and time could be forthcoming as soon as tomorrow. Here's a link to some pictures. http://usar.tamu.edu/
  17. I'll go out on a limb here and predict that DD and the team knew nothing of the meet and greet after saturday's practice. In fact, they probably didn't know about the relief truck loading thing until right up to practice. Don't ask why my prediction, it's just a guess. But a good guess. Rick
  18. Louisiana currently has 9,000+ guardsmen of which 2,300(not tons) are currently deployed to Iraq. Of the 6,000 who remain, few specialize in helicopter transport that of which has been the most needed with rescue and evacuations. As 61 mentioned, here is the chain of command for those who protect the citizens of New Orleans(as well as other cities such as Fort Worth). 1. The Mayor. 2. The New Orleans director of Homeland Security (a political appointee of the Governor who reports to the Governor. 3. The Governor. 4. The Head of Homeland Security. 5. The President. What did each do? 1. The mayor with 5 days advance, waited until 2 days before he announced a mandatory evacuation (at the behest of the President). The he failed to provide transportation for those without transport even though he had hundreds of buses at his disposal. 2. The New Orleans director of Homeland Security failed to have any plan for a contingency that has been talked about for 50 years. Then he blames the Feds for not doing what he should have done. (So much for political appointees) 3. The Governor, despite a declaration of disaster by the President 2 DAYS BEFORE the storm hit, failed to take advantage of the offer of Federal troops and aid. Until 2 DAYS AFTER the storm hit. 4. The Director of Homeland Security positioned assets in the area to be ready when the Governor called for them. 5. The President, urged a mandatory evacuation, and even declared a disaster State of Emergency, freeing up millions of dollars of federal assistance, should the Governor decide to use it. Rick
  19. As of right now, the Texas branch of the Urban Search and Rescue service, who was activated and sent in by FEMA, has been on the ground in New Orleans since Monday Sept 29th. The USAR teams are completely self sufficient. They travel with their own equipment, food and supplies and usually account for about 25 to 100 members and up. Due to their small numbers they are able to respond and mobilize quickly. In this instance, they were put on notice on friday Sept 26th and at ground zero of their target immediatly after winds died down to 55 mph on monday. But assembling and mobilizing a 7,000 to 25,000 man army takes time. I'm surprised they got in when they did on Thursday. When the REAL finger pointing starts up I'm interested in hearing from the LSU professor, can't remember his name, who is claiming he has warned N.O. officials for years that this could happen only to have it fall on deaf ears. So far I have only seen interviews of FEMA officials from Florida who have said they have presented numerous computer models over the years to LA officials on what could happen should a Category 5 hurricane's hit N.O. Rick
