Surprise! Surprise!
There is some talent here but, other than Rose and Venegas, very little experience. Banks, Drake and Peachey played with the green team line and that's about it. But, that's a good nucleus to build from and I think that they should be the starters...Rose at center, Banks and Drake at the guards, and Venegas and Peachey at tackles. Foster is a comer and according to the writeup, Menard will be a player. I also believe that Johnson and Tomlinson will eventually be starters and possibly all-conference types.
The rest are pretty suspect. It seems doubtful that Alexander or Crumes will be a part of the mix due to injuries. I believe that I saw Chris Eidd out there and he does have a ton of potential IMO. I don't know about Stewart. He only weighed about 260 last I saw and that's about 30 pounds light for the o-line. Tyler Bailey seems to be an adequate backup. Glass is strong but undersized with little chance to add bulk. Oops, I forgot about Carlson, the overgrown tight end. He might help. Short of walkons, that's the crop.
Come the fall I think that we could have a decent two-deep but until then....
Did I read somewhere on this board that Ajani Banks will not be with us in the fall?

Not because I'm a veteran, but why not, somehow, recognize all of the veterans in attendance at the Navy game?

Pictures don't lie. My mistake. BUT........before Dodge's tenure at TJ, the helmets were definitely White. I just couldn't remember the years. I'm talking about the late 1950's, early 1960's. That's when I use to watch mighty TJ play when I was a kid.

This response has nothing to do with Smitty's design ability(he's really good), but the NORTH TEXAS on that helmet just doesn't do it for me. Whether we have green helmets or white helmets, give me SOW or NT exes logo on our football helmets.
-
Texas would look good with a burnt orange helmet and a white logo.
Hell will freeze over and the aggies will beat UT 20 years in a row before that happens!
-
Just a thought...Todd Dodge threw to receivers wearing a white helmet at Texas. And he had his quaterbacks throw to receivers wearing a white helmet at Southlake Carroll.
I wonder what color the helmets were at his Beaumont high school ?

Dodge played for Port Arthur Thomas Jefferson HS. And yes, I believe the helmets were white.

I don't understand this at all. I'm not a "big donor" by any means (but I am consistent!), and have parked in the Green Lot for many years. There's still plenty of parking spaces in that lot. It goes all the way to Bonnie Brae so there's plenty of spots. Why move the tailgaters out?

Say it isn't so.

In reality, Howerton still has two years remaining and he has been developing pretty well.
Jeff, I hardly ever disagree with you on anything, but you can't be serious about Howerton?

According to Forbes Magazine, there are 415 known billionaires in the United States. If we could get each of these people to donate a paltry $100,000 each, this year, we could have our stadium. Who's in for an email campaign??

Who could forget the Model T and the Victory Bell?

We need a poll to find out the political makeup of the members of GMG.com.

Ok, here was the response from their editor to my e-mail questioning our omission:
Thanks for your email. North Texas, as well as many other
schools, should be on the list. It was an oversight/miscommunication
between our editorial staff and our web programmers. Sorry for the
error. It should be fixed shortly.
Good luck to the Mean Green.

Greendylan, you did such a good job getting North Texas on the list, do you think you could get the editor to put our logo on there too? Give me his email address and I'll send him our logo. Son of Worm must be displayed.

Anyone remember Fred? Washington from the mid '60's? I seem to remember him being 6-7, 270+#'s, or thereabouts. Very good offensive tackle.

She struggled her first 10 years at UNT, going 104-163.
This is where the mistake was made. Keeping her after 10 years with such a poor record. Was our Athletic Leader back then so blind that he did not see this?

Armageddon is near. Emmit is pulling for the aggie$.

Someone reported Hank recently said in conversation the initial goal is 40K seats for us, and expandable. I hope that's true, to start with 40,000. Anything less is SMUtish.
Old buddy, I'd gladly take a 30,000 seat "SMUish" stadium over what we now have. Our stadium is "high schoolish".

Because if a QB's natural inclination is to get "happy feet" when someone is within a few yards of him, then it's going to take a lot of drills to change that.
Or, get another QB that is accustomed to the rush, yet focused on his target(s).
-
Maybe Memphis and UNT could work something out, I like Billy Bob's and we have to quit meeting in NO, BB sch means everything.
Get CUSA to dump SMU or Rice, add NT as a member. NT and Memphis wouldn't have a problem scheduling one another, would we?

On the other extreme are the Ohio State uniforms. They look too cheap to be used in an intramural league.
It's sad, Ohio State has so much talent, is currently ranked #1, but will be doomed to lose because of their hideous unifoms.
If Ohio State is ranked #1 in hideous uniforms, then Syracuse has to be ranked #1.1. Those things were ugly, especially with the big, bold ORANGE on the front.

Uh, not to disrespect what's going on in basketball, but has anyone been to Spring training? Can someone give us a report? Throw us a bone.

I've been to the Pyramid a few years ago, but it was for a Titanic exhibit, not a basketball game.
Didn't the Titanic sink? Memphis, Pyramid, Titanic, sink.... Hey, it could happen.

After hanging with some UNT people in NO after the bowl game, I wish there was a watch party here in East Texas, I would even buy the first round.
Where in East Texas?

I say we come out in Boise State colors and see how many of the OU players and fan go into the fetal position!

Some day you may be fortunate to meet "hooknbull". He's an ex-NT player from the Hayden Fry era, who, if you ever sit with him at a game, will disect every X and O, and every defensive scheme known to man, each and every play. He really gets into the game and a very fine gentlemen to know.
