From the official Sun Belt site:
"Live webstreaming coverage of every every game from Lafayette for only $9.95"
It makes it sound that this is a video feed, not just an audio feed.
Has anyone purchased this in previous years. If so, how's the video quality? It is worth the 10 bucks?
Just thought I would ask, I'd hate to miss a couple North Texas Tournament wins because I was too cheap to pay 10 bucks!
If you don't mind a small screen on your monitor, $9.95 for every game is definitely worth it. I watch the NT home games on our video feed and I think it's a good buy for those of us that live so far away from Denton.

Good bulletin board material for JJ.

BUMP for SilverEagle.

Uh, not to be disrespectful, but I think he means University of Northern Colorado.

You're too late.

Harry, you know I've been with you since the inception of your "Harry's Mean Green Site", or whatever you called it. Thanks for continuing the passion for Mean Green athletics.
You should keep a reocrd of how many members are signed up on GMG.com as of this morning, then compare it post article in a month or two, then in the Fall. Interesting to see if the students buy into the site via the NT Daily.

I sure didn't know Rich Young was a Marine, much less an Iraq ware veteran. From one Veteran to another, thank you for your service to our country, Rich. Good luck tonight!

From NT athletics site: (interesting)
With one more win this edition of the Mean Green would become only the fifth 20-win team in the school’s history. Currently the 19 wins stands as the most successful season at NT since 1977-78.
The Mean Green will bring the nation’s 30th rated offense into the tournament. It is led not only by Davis but, also the low-post duo of Quincy Williams and Keith Wooden. Williams currently leads the Sun Belt in field goal percentage (56.8), and Wooden is averaging 11 points and 8.5 rebounds per game over his last six outings.

---This could be interesting unless we shoot ourselves in the foot... our last FIVE losses have been by a total of "eleven points".
We need to get our act together.
Then my question is, who did we play during the '78 - '79 season? Was it Bellhaven, Sister's of the Poor, etc.? Or was it a legitimate 1A schedule?

Once TX/OU takes their ball and goes to Arlington to home/home you can kiss major football of any sort goodbye too.

I have this up on the recruiting site and wanted to share it with the rest of you.
Interesting stuff on www.setxsports.com. Here's a post from presumably Mosley's father that describes Micah's visit. Someone is putting out a 2009 stadium date, that's for sure!
"Coach Dodge has put together a great coaching staff. The running back coach, Coach Gandy, played at Southern Miss with Bret Farve and has interned at numerous NFL camps. Offensive coordinator is a past UT Quarterback (93, 94 ?), Coach Todd Ford. Coach Dodge gave his 5 steps to winning and none of them mentioned anything about plays, offense, defense....North Texas is building a new stadium which will be complete in 2009. The players wake up, walk to the cafe, walk to the weight room, walk to the locker room, coaches office, team meeting room and never go outside the whole time. The practice field is right outside the dorms and the new stadium is being built next to the dorms and locker room. Underarmour is now furnishing the equipment, new style jerseys, pants, gloves, shoes, etc....Underarmour was with Coach Dodge at Southlake and moved with him to North Texas. The freshman stay in Victory dorms which are only about 2 to 3 years old, we visited Texas A & M and North Texas facilities are right there with it. Micah will be starting out behind two senior running backs, Jamario Thomas who is projected to be drafted high in the upcoming NFL draft, this dude benches 490 lbs and runs a 4.41 forty, Cobbs who is a rookie running back playing for Miami this year played at North Texas last year. Great visit!"

Any mention of how DeepGreen, aka the Silent Sicilian, single handedly landed Giovannia Vizza with one phone call to, uh.......some close friends.

Oliver Tomlinson, father of LaDainian, was killed in an automobile crash. Prayers go out for LT's family.

Correct me where I am wrong, but doesn't North Texas "balance" the athletic budget every year with "discretionary" funds from the NT President?
-
Didn't know we had walk-on tryouts this week. Can you give us any information? Number of walk-ons, any notable players, etc. Come on man, don't leave us hanging!

So the UNT HC will be attending UT's Junior Day....that's funny. Maybe TD will do some recruiting at Mack's event.
Or some pre-interviewing.

I look for Riley to receive an offer from Texas, and he will sign with Texas. Whether it's to play QB, DB, or athlete. UT is where his dad played. Sorry, but I don't look for Riley to play at NT.

Yeh there is. Looking at that drawing and where I park in what's left of the green lot, I'll need to lose 35 pounds to squeeze between the retaining wall and the back of Fouts to enter the gate by the Mean Green Club tent.

JOE HAMILTON – In just two seasons with the Eagles basketball team, Hamilton was a two-time all-Missouri Valley Conference pick who now stands as the school’s No. 11-ranked career scoring leader. He is ranked in North Texas’ top 10 in three single-season records.
If there was a college 3 point line...I think Joe would be ranked #1 in scoring and the 3 point record would still be in the chase. Almost all of Joe's shots were top of the key where the current 3 point line is.
I'm not saying Joe is a god...but he is not far off.
Watched Hamilton myself and everything you say is true. Joe was a pure shooter.

My wife: Originally from Sour Lake Texas. (Native Texan)
I can't help you with working or living in the North Texas area, but I had to respond since your wife if from Sour Lake. Tell her DeepGreen is from the Beaumont/Port Arthur area. I'm very familar with Sour Lake. A lot of "oil" history in Sour Lake.

BACK TO NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS: Many of us as NT Exes back in that day would asked this question to each other : Why Stephen "F"(reakin') Austin going to the top (nationally) with any varsity program and not us...........no, uh, North Texas? What the hell we doing wrong in Denton? Answer to that question: What we were doing wrong in Denton for most of the last quarter of a century (if not all of it) was just merely hiring D-II personnel who had no business being in Denton and staying in Denton trying to make us a viable NCAA D1-A program. Were all these nice guys we hired at UNT during all those decades? Sure they were nice guys but most of you old timers remember what former MLB manager Leo Durocher used to say about nice guys, right?
This pretty much sums up what many feel has being going on at NT. Smoke and mirrors. But, it takes money to hire the right people that can get the job done the right way. The sad part is NT has never received the financial support from the Alumni base on a continual basis that kept the athletic program going at a higher level. The window of opportunity clearly shows Todd Dodge as the standard bearer for athletic success at NT. But financial success can only come from successful athletic teams. Too many followers have come and gone because of lackluster hires and non-competitive teams due to what Plummer pointed out in the quote above.
