Better than being referred to as North Texas State University or North Texas University. I don't get what's so evil about being known as the Eagles and Mean Green. Nobody knows who we are anyways.

I like Mean Green with the Eagle logo on the helmet. "North Texas" looks bush league.

I always liked Monte Towe; I didn't realize he had left. Losing this game would be a bad loss, imo.

Thank God for an attitude like this coming to the school. Are the days of "Florida International is a real good team" over now? If so, can he communicate that attitude to JJ? -
I caught a clip of the press conference, and am already impressed. Dodge looks and acts like a division 1-A coach, and makes me realize how bush league Dickey must've looked, especially while constantly ragging on the school. If he does nothing else in his career here, at least it won't look like we hired the town yokel.

So then your assertion is that Arizona State is on the level of Duke or Kansas?

Yeah, but I wouldn't call those teams mid-majors. Real basketball schools are schools like Kentucky, UCLA, Arizona, Indiana, Notre Dame, North Carolina, etc. Saying Arizona State is a big basketball school because it's in the Pac 10 is like saying Baylor is a big football school because it's in the Big 12.

Arkansas and, to a much lesser extent, Oklahoma State are big time basketball. LSU and ASU have had some flashes (LSU in the Final Four last year), but are a lot closer to "mid-major" historically than they are anything else.
