  1. Wow, given the earnest attempt to bring this to the forefront, you're some critic. As for the last part, you didn't really understand what Rick said. Cost wasn't the only factor; the current infrastructure would have involved ripping up drainage and digging halfway to China, which doesn't mitigate the problem of "moving" the entire stadium forward all the way around after the track is taken out. It wasn't a matter of simple upgrading but more like moving a mansion from one end of town to the next. Why do it? For what it would have cost, you've got half or more of a new one paid for.
  2. Wrong, Horton wasn't a nonqualifier. He went to Auburn, remember? As he transferred from school to school, he just didn't get his associate's, which is required to play D-I if you attend JC after becoming ineligible. You can still be a qualifier out of high school, go to JC for one year and then transfer to D-I without the associate's as long as you remain eligible, but you don't see that as often anymore. More on Horton from this blog.
  3. yeah, doesn't sound like crossing her pays off. get back soon, Latif.
  4. The players have been back what, a few weeks, and someone's already "suspended"? College Confidential feel free to move to hoops board, but it started with some football news
  5. Pretty sure these football preview stories are written weeks before two-deeps are released. I notice it every year with lots of preview articles, because so much changes in 3 weeks, and they don't go back and change stuff. I got the gist of the story just fine. Until Tuesday, I don't remember Tune ever making a UNT two-deep. As for the 10 games started, that's wrong, but Vizza played in 10 games, so you're getting a little riled over an honest mistake.
  6. All good points, except don't totally agree on the Dilfer/Johnson argument. It might be only that they're bad examples. Both, for the most part, were pretty average QBs, which you can get away with in the NFL (see Chris Chandler and many more). Those two guys' teams had hellacious defenses that were more responsible for those Super Bowls, and a decent (but not great) amount of skill talent around them. I think Vick actually made it to an NFC championship game, but Atlanta's D has never been anything like those other two. As for Young, it's still too early to write him off. It's not like Dilfer or Johnson just went out and won a SB in their second or third season.
  7. Beer Abby? Found some stuff at Central Market called Arrogant Bastard Ale. Description on the bottle is hilarious, and it's good (strong) stuff. Brewed in San Diego, Calif.
  8. Terrible article. Last I checked, the Air-Raid is the Mumme-Mike Leach offense that Tech and NMSU run, not ours. Never once heard the Carroll/UNT/Missouri offense called Air Raid. If this was attempting to get to the bottom of the system-or-QB debate, it didn't. At all. Also, never mentions Vizza ran very close to the same offense at Alamo Heights, save for some different terminology. Pretty insulting to say he was "created" by what Dodge runs.
  9. H-back and halfback are two different things. Don't think it means Gill lines up in the backfield in a two-back set. It's more of a slot receiver/TE just off the line.
  10. Kylee Hill's going to start at one safety.
  11. Are you talking about Jamel? I don't know a Jamal.
  12. What a bunch of terds. Can't remember which one talks...money or sh**.
  13. don't mean to rumormonger, but why else would he have left? BC he was dying to play at LA tech?
  14. Is this anymore than the natural weeding-out process? Biggest loss I can see from this class is Padron, and for personal health reasons. Others were: Ealey (gone a month into 2007 season/grades/life of crime) Roman (grades) King (chose to transfer/playing time) Those four were on scholarship, and King never played a down. Fentriss, Garden and Moreland were walk-ons. First two never played, and Moreland was replaced by a better kicker. Best of luck to all, but I don't see anything here in the way of an alarming trend. Am I missing someone?
  15. 7 on 7 against SMU? I'm down. Gio/Riley and the 2 Sams would kick some SMUT butt.
  16. Updated S-T blog post on open/closed practices. I don't actually remember Dodge saying practice was open, but he certainly said it was closed last year.
  17. Good sign...did anyone else out there get in undetected? One good byproduct of poor communication is too many people show up to monitor or limit access. Maybe that happened on Saturday, if it's true a lot of folks got in. All in all, whether or not this is the same policy as a year ago, it seems confusing.
  18. They live in Grapevine but still in Southlake ISD, which spills into a few other towns.
  19. For what it's worth, Coach Dodge says team is worth price of admission, too.
