  1. Not so fast my friend @Brett Vito Don't like either of those ND guys better than Tommy Perry. If one of those is truly the hire, I feel it will be an epic mistake as neither has coached running backs and Perry was fantastic at it.
  2. Probably not, because he was their friend(not a good reason for enshrinement). Possibly, because some of those more deserving may never get in.
  3. I get your point. I remember one of the beyond the green videos talking about Ek having to learn a new system from Reffett. Don't necessarily see why Perry couldn't learn the airraid in the same manner.
  4. I think this would be more of @Aldo's ring of honor idea (which I like, plus we partner with the Cowboys now). 3 of the numbers should certainly stay retired, Abner, Mean Joe, and Gill. Abner was a trailblazer, Mean Joe was the best player we've ever had, and Gill literally gave his life for our football team. I don't know enough about Renfro's NT days to make a call on whether his should be unretired or not.
  5. I'm thinking the AEK deal could be 3 things: 1. An acronym like Always Eating Kickers (replace kickers with any K word) 2. Alpha Sigma Kappa? 3. AEK the soccer team, he didn't start using the hashtag until he left UT. The team was founded by refugees so maybe he feels like a refugee after leaving Austin. We are his destination to be successful back in his home state.
  6. I'll go further than insinuating, I'll flat out say it. There were 16 All-conference players on the 2002 team with 10 of those being first team honors. Of those 16, only 4 are in the HOF (Kevin Galbreath, Brandon Kennedy, Cody Spencer, Jonas Buckles). Of the 12 that aren't in the HOF, 2 were 4-time all-conference (JR Randle, Nick Zuniga), 1 was 3-time all-conference (Adrian Awasome), and 6 were 2-time all-conference (Jeff Meunchow, Taylor Casey, Craig Jones, Matt Turney, Chris McIver, and Brad Kadlubar). I think the disrespectful part is to put Andrew Smith in the HOF ahead of the players that truly led the team to the 2002 NO Bowl because I'd bet my last dollar that if he doesn't die in that crash(with a BAC of .13), there is no way he gets in the HOF ahead of most of those guys, if he gets in at all. Don't forget, at the time of his death, he was set to back up Scott Hall again in 2004.
  7. Man, seriously, I wish your conspiracy was true, anything to get this clown show to move on down the road. I was thinking that perhaps he spoke with Benford after the game and they came up with the hospital excuse to cover for him skipping out.
  8. I was referring to this one although the timeline is sketchy.
  9. @UNT90, I'm with you man. Smells funny and I want Benford gone as bad as you but I thought Vito called the hospital and verified that Frazier was there in an earlier blog post, no?
  10. NVM, Hall bowl games has been addressed. I think it is a good idea.
  11. So doing what you can for the school puts you on the list? That mean Andrew McNulty belongs on that list? He did give everything he had for this school, was on a bowl win team, and scored the first touchdown in Apogee. To your other point about those with retired numbers, Are those you listed in an untouchable place because of what they did at NT was far superior to anyone since or because of the NFL?
  12. Dang. Well fingers crossed our new assistant is a game changer and swings him our way.
  13. I think you could include players like Lance and Cobbs. Cobbs led the nation in rushing and was our and the sunbelt all time leader in rushing until Lance took ours and Fenroy took the Belt.
  14. So basically if we finish above .500 next year, win conference, and win the bowl game, the qb deserves to be in the HOF regardless of performance? Or must they die too? Will cause of death matter? Simple drunk driving passes, how about drug overdose or getting shot while robbing a bank/home/automobile? I'm just trying to determine what qualifies you to get in because quite honestly, our HOF is significantly overcrowded. Perhaps we should create some sort of additional honor, other than # retiring, to honor the truly elite players of our past.
  15. I'm of the same feeling. Would Alec deserve to be in the HOF if he died on the way home from the HOD bowl? I don't want to disrespect the deceased but he started for less than a full season and only because Scott Hall got hurt. His numbers were not great, he wasn't the NO bowl MVP, and he died while driving drunk. Shall we induct Sam Dibrell and Josh Rake as well? Makes no sense to me.
  16. Several decommits and their starting center(who our old staff offered) is transferring. Any interest you think? I'm interested in: the transfer center the RB from La. doesn't look too bad. Offer from UTSA and Arizona St plus others. the JUCO OL, if nothing else, he looks like he'd make a good defensive tackle if he couldn't make it happen in the Airraid. Underlines are links.
  17. Maybe they are looking for an Airraid guy to coach the running backs. Perry was the best coach on the last staff and I thought one of the better ones on this staff. This had better be for an upgrade. If we are grading coordinators or position coaches, I'm sure Perry's special teams would've graded better than Harrell's offense and his running backs were flat out the best offensive players on the team.
  18. Yes Kennedy is the only bobblegead in a UNT uniform but I'm sure Joe Greene has bobbleheads out there somewhere.
