  1. I'd guess Mainord based on the last month or two but my sleeper pick is Ek to reunite with Jeremy Pruitt and coach LBs at Bama.
  2. They are on lunch or pretty busy because I just called and sat on hold for 5 minutes. I'll try back in an hour.
  3. Was he standing to close to Jeff? I know Alec said he almost chucked at the HOD bowl. But seriously, Pirtle has a youtube channel and he puts vids up of him doing stuff and in one he and Mason are working out real hard, running hills and stuff. They did every step in the stadium one night just because. I guarantee you if Mason gets beat out for the qb job it won't be for lack of effort. That kid is out there grinding every day even when the coaches aren't watching.
  4. So if we have 16 coming in and 5 freshman on the roster, what about the other 4 scholarships for this class?
  5. Poor Semrak and Eli Howard. I guess he is becoming the Todd Graham of DLine coaches.
  6. Maybe they are making it a work-study or student assistant position? Maybe it is a way around the hiring freeze. I have no idea, just throwing guesses around.
  7. Also dude, UTSA and UNT went bowling this year. SMUg watched on tv. SMUg hasn't gone bowling since 2012. CUSA programs on the rise.
  8. I'm in the minority but I'm kinda digging the newfound rivalry we have with these roadbirds. I hate all things SMU to my core and always will but they don't seem to give a $#!+ about us. They only view TCU as their rival and us as just annoying. It seems that Colonel Sanders' finest seem to hate us just as much or moreso than we hate them. I like that. I've always wanted a two-way rivalry like UT-OU have. It seems that every Texas P5 looks at UT as their rival but UT only views OU(and formerly A&M) as theirs. It seems this may be a rare instance where the teams hate each other equally. It's like we can tell @UTSA Paratrooper 04 F U and he says it back, and then we can laugh it off afterwards. All the birds that I met at the Alamodome were very welcoming and friendly. I like where this rivalry is headed. The difference with SMU is that I'll tell them F U and not laugh it off. I'm just ready to throw down. F those SMUg bastards at least UTKFC is good natured about it.
  9. I wish I had the coin to help us step our game up.
  10. I thought he had decided to move on from coaching. I was thinking maybe he said that during the spring game while in the booth with Dave and Hank.
  11. I hadn't considered Victor Gill. He played LT at a first team all conference level in Todd Dodge's pass-heavy system after being moved from tight end. He actually wouldn't be a bad get. He definitely knows the technique and how to play above your weight (I don't think he ever got above 265).
  12. At 55 is he really that long in the tooth?
  13. I was wondering why Littrell didn't meet McElwain at the 50 yard line to have a fight for Davis' services.
  14. This is true, we did beat the crap out of a 3-9 Baylor team in Denton that year. UAB was fortunate enough to beat them too.
  15. I guess it is too bad that we can't pull up the rankings for that one terrific class but every other class Dickey had was not as good as Dodge's 2008 class. I don't recall there being better facilities in'08, just a promise that we might have a stadium before they'd graduate. What measure do you use to determine that Dickey brought in more highly rated and regarded talent than any other? I don't recall talk of Dickey bringing in 15 3-stars in one class or a class ranked 57th in the nation, but I do remember constant complaints on here about "stealth recruiting". You may have slept through the seasons before and after the Sun Belt came and saved Dickey's job but I sure didn't. I remember being Baylor's only win in an empty Floyd Casey in 1999. I remember 50-2 at home against Tulsa in 2005 and 35-0 at home to the MUTS. I remember only getting 3 field goals out of seven overtime drives from the 25 against the worst team in college football. You may believe that Dickey would've found a way to win again after the rest of the Sun Belt finally got FBS-level talent but I sure don't. He was piloting a ship that was sinking faster than the Titanic and I know for damn sure Apogee doesn't get opened in 2011 if he stays the coach after 2006. He had us pointed straight to D1 purgatory, Dodge screwed up his staff big time for sure, but he also, by class ranking, was the best recruiter we've had. He was also the best hand shaker/baby kisser we've had too, which contributed a lot to butts in the seats, student interest, and ultimately Apogee. Dickey, much like Mac was blessed with a class of leaders that would carry the program, but once those leaders graduated they couldn't lead their own programs and everything fell apart. I will never believe Dickey was one of the "greats" to coach at North Texas because it took a conference change for him to start winning. I'd compare it to NT being dropped into the Southland Conference in 2010 and Dodge ends up winning conference with a losing record. Dickey is held in high regard by some around here for 4 straight conference championships and 26 straight conference wins but they always seem to ignore the fact that during his "miraculous" bowl run his record was 29-21. Of those 29 victories, a whopping 4 were against teams that didn't have a losing record. That's right, Dickey averaged 1 win per year against bowl eligible teams over that incredible four year span. Don't build that statue just yet. The Sun Belt suck saved Dickey's ass whether you want to admit it or not. When their talent levels caught up to ours, he was toast.
  16. Like when Mac wanted to start one qb and Chico another?
  17. I will be very interested to see what happens if Littrell and Harrell disagree on who should top the depth chart.
  18. This is GD foolish for them not to make an attempt. Is the staff aware that he has family that is a big NT supporter? I'd tweet at the staff but don't have access til monday.
  19. Great point Plumm but none of the 15 were still around for the HOD bowl, the last of them had their eligibility expire after the '12 season. The driving force behind the HOD was the 2010 class that had ZERO 3-stars and was ranked 117th in the land but included 2 future NFL stars.
