We have the best overall record in the conference and tied for second in the division. I see no reason why we can't get a #1 or #2 seed. Top three seeds get a bye into Round 2.

I did my part. I said I would join the MGC if Dickey was fired, and I kept that promise by donating at the Victory Circle level.

DENTON – New North Texas coach Todd Dodge plans to run a 4-3 defense, one of a few decisions the former Southlake Carroll coach has made since taking over the Mean Green this week. Dodge moved into his office Wednesday, just four days after Carroll won the Class 5A Division I state title. "I am excited to pour myself into this job," Dodge said. "For the last two weeks I did a pretty good job of maintaining my focus on Carroll, considering how many opportunities there were to have a lack of focus." Former Haltom head coach Clayton George, who joined Dodge's staff last week, will be UNT's wide receivers coach. Dodge said he plans to hire high school coaches he has previously worked with and hopes to have the rest of his staff in place by Wednesday. Although Dodge has yet to make an announcement on who his defensive coordinator will be, he has decided to move from the 3-4 defense UNT ran last season to a 4-3 during spring practice. Dodge hasn't decided when those workouts begin but said he favors putting them off until the weather warms up. UNT started spring practice in February under former head coach Darrell Dickey. Dodge said one of his first priorities would be getting started on recruiting. So here is Todd Dodge, the new coach at North Texas. The team he's leaving is in the playoffs — the Class 5A, Division I final against Westlake High on Saturday. So here is North Texas, with a fat-cat booster named (seriously) "Mattress Mack," who threatened to redirect a million-dollar donation from the athletic department to the music department if a practice facility wasn't named after recently fired coach Darrell Dickey. Guess who won that battle? Can you say "Dickey Fieldhouse"? A coach willing to walk into that situation gets an "A" on any hiring report card. Then again, Dodge's 78-1 record and three state titles over the past five years at Southlake Carroll help, too. Louisiana-Lafayette was the only SBC team to post a winning OOC record. The SBC needs to step up.

I agree there has been "irrational exuberance" about Dodge. But this is, IMHO, significant news. He was Dodge's OC at SLC.

My prediction is at least a 7-5 season, probably the Sun Belt Championship, but... Even if we don't win the championship we get a bowl invite because Dodge makes such a big splash and his offense is entertaining.

First, let me say I personally have no use for organized religion. I am agnostic. Second, take the "Christian" nations on earth (USA, most of Europe, Australia) and compare them to the "Muslim" nations in terms of personal freedom, political stability, economic opportunities, human rights, etc. I think the distinctions are quite obvious.
