  1. Thanks Harry. GoMeanGreen.com keeps it real.
  2. What did you think about UNT alum Mike Reiner calling his alma mater Harvard on the Highway? It's been a couple weeks at least but I thought it was funny, and yet still a good reference because Cobra was suggesting Reiner's daugther could always transfer from USC to SMU. Reiner said UNT is a good option as well. I'm looking forward to the SMU game. My UNT alum co-worker is lame because he says he's going to watch UT/OSU instead.
  3. I'd think that UNT would have about half its starters from the greater DFW area. Five seems on the low side. I'd bet that SMU, which has half its student body from out of state, has at least five starters from the Metroplex as well. I think UH has probably eight or more starters from the greater Houston area, but has been recruiting DFW and West Texas a lot more since Briles was hired four years ago.
  4. While UNT's OOC record is poor, you have to remember that the vast majority of those games are on the road. Beat SMU this year, like you did against TX Tech, and you're on your way again.
  5. TCU has a sad program this year. Their coach should get one more year and then get fired. He loses Nile Murry this year and is being far outshined by the football program. SMU women got 1350 for the UH game on Friday night and had a nice crowd for the Rice game which was on ESPN2. I don't know about the guys but they're going to need a stout replacement for B-Hop. Dez is playing well though. All told, UNT is the best mens hoops team in the Metroplex this year.
  6. Dowell is transferring to UH but was originally rumored to be going to Rice. Did UNT do well in fall (and spring to date) recruiting? I was impressed with UNT's team and your facilities. If you win a few games like UH at home and A&M on the road, your team could really take off with confidence. You can still do it with a strong streak of wins. The SunBelt is pretty tough but I look forward to JJ pulling out a SB Title and NCAA berth in the near future. Eat'em Up!
  7. Why did they draw so well? Don't say nothing else to do. Was there a tractor pull afterwards that was free with a football game ticket?
  8. Is it the lack of a top notch QB? It's touch to replace a warrior like Scott Hall. You obviously have a stable of RB and tonight we saw the defense, but that was lacking against TU and KSU. So what gives? I listened on the radio. What was the crowd like? A friend of mine from work (north Plano) was going to the game tonight. He's a UNT alum but a huge Michigan fan since he's from there. My wife works at SMU and I follow the 'Stangs a lot. They don't have a solid QB or offense either. Well, you seem to certainly have the RBs but what about your O-Line? Close game tonight and other than the punt fumble at your 17, the game goes to the MG. Given tonight's result and with Troy being ranked like SMU (not a big accomplishment) http://www.mratings.com/cf/compare.htm and you having already beaten MTSU on the road, who just beat 4-0 Vandy at their house, what do you think? It seems like the MG can still sweep the conference.
  9. 1. A&M will complain that they were called the state's third largest university. 2. Athletics departments are going to be under fire at schools that run a deficit. 3. Did you notice that the PUF money to UT/A&M won't drop at all? Therefore, any funding decreases will be particularly felt at the state's other universities...again.
  10. As 37 mentioned, USF's in next year. USF has done a remarkable job. Top to bottom? Top -- Louisville (beat FSU) and USM Bottom -- UAB and Army I suppose just look at the Sagarin rankings in a few weeks when they start to count more.
  11. What's UNT at now? I heard from the dir. of admissions that UH would be at 35,000 this year. Maybe the Chron. is figuring for some late drops. What is UNT's proportion of undergrads/grads? UH is something like 25,000 undergrad and 9-10K grad. With all that land, A&M seems like it could expand its enrollment.
  12. I went to UNT last night from Dallas. First of all, the traffic getting up there was horrendous. It took 80+ minutes to get from NW Hwy the tollway area. I went up 35 the whole way from NW Hwy. Is there an easier route? Maybe I could've taken the tollway up quite a ways. Anyway, I was really impressed by the bball arena, where the college night forums were held. You have a nice arena, nice looking floor and not a bad seat in the house. I really like all the green. As host, UNT had something like 8 tables set up for themselves vs. one for the other schools. Again, good move. The university also held a wine and cheese reception in the Gateway Center with some jazz musicians afterwards. I went to Plano East on Tuesday night and this was much better because each school had a lot more room to work with. Eat'em Up! BTW, does UNT have any parking garages on campus? Just curious.
  13. Those are nice 3-for-1s with OSU and IU. However, that's a lot of games to trade with. Any chance of getting Tech on the schedule? RMK is reportedly trying to schedule a bunch of TX teams. UH is set up with a rotation with them and their game at SMU was a boon last year. I wonder why the 2-for-1 deal with UH was cancelled. I read that UNT took a payout to cancel the remaining two games but that could be off. UNT played at UH last year and we were due to play at the Pit this year. Oh well, hopefully we get it going again soon.
  14. Any idea what this years hoops schedule will look like? We originally thought that UH was going to be playing at UNT this year but it turned out to be one trip to UH with a payout instead of the possible 2-for-1 deal. Do you play SMU, TCU and/or UT-Arlington? I'd like to catch some games and live rather close to SMU. Who are the featured home games this year (W. Kentucky?)?
  15. Athletes aren't too keen on redshirting these days. I'd be surprised if Sam 'shirts but if he does, that would seem best for the Mean Green's future prospects.
  16. Is Sam going to be a three for UNT? Can he shoot from outside? I'm thinking of Jason McCoy who was 6'10" or so and 175 lbs. when he graduated from Milby H.S. He played his freshman year at Rutgers last year. Houston is going with a 7'0" shot blocker (weighs about 205 or so) at the center spot. Just curious if Sam can shoot much but you probably didn't get to see much of that. I'm glad he was able to get a spot in the game with Kendrick Davis's absence. -formerly "tristatecoog"
