  1. Sweet Jesus yes please. *ignoring the North Texas State reference*
  2. LOVE the helmets. And so did the players-that's what matters. Let them have some fun with it.
  3. Patrick is a good football player and NT could certainly use him. However the chances of him coming to NT are almost 0. Rumors have him now looking at Ivy league schools. It obviously won't be to a Big 12 school. He also comes with some baggage. Patrick wanted the husker coaches to basically guarantee him the #1 QB job for the spring and into the fall. They said no. Nebraska has Zach Lee who is more mobile and has a great arm. They also have freshman stud Cody Green already on campus. In 7 on 7 drills a few weeks ago-Patrick was caught teaching Cody the wrong signals on purpose. That was the end of his time at Nebraska.
  4. This guy is at best a 50-50 shot. Hate to say it, but if NT doesn't find a way to sign 3-4 impact D-line types, this recruiting class will not be complete. Is it too strong to say it's borderline incompetence by Td and staff if they end up with no JC D tackles? Guys-this team has without question, the weakest set of D Lineman in all college football. Shouldn't it be more of a priority than say, signing another wr/db type? just my opinion of course.....
  5. A few thoughts: -If you have been reading my few posts here-you would not be suprised by anything that is happening or will happen. I had already been hearing it. -Those of you saying "it can't get any worse"-----this has been said for the last 2 months already and guess what-it probably will get worse yet. -Rv and Td have been at odds the last few months -Rv told Td to make assistant coaching changes-he refused. -Rv told Td 2009 will be his make or break season-not necessarily judged by wins and losses. -Pray some of our more talented underclassmen don't transfer-if not now-in the summer. -The players and some parents have lost faith in Td and his ability to build a winner -The assistant coaching staff(save Deloach) is in so far over there heads it's ridiculous. -Rv hired Td-so if he fires him-he thinks he will look bad. -what few notable alumni, etc. we actually have are going to start jumping ship soon-made more easy to do by the economy. -as previously mentioned-Td has a massive ego. He thinks he has all the answers. -Td better recruit a JC quarterback immediately-or else. Riley will get hurt-bank on it. Then what? Yes friends-it is time for some answers from RV-the question is-Does he know the answer? Tough times ahead for sure. So sad.
  6. This team, as currently constructed, will not win more than 3 games next year. 2 wins in more realistic. While the talent level is marginal at some positions-O and D lines specifically-I would hope for 4-5 wins with outstanding coaching. Not gonna happen. The lack of focus on the defense and special teams by the head coach is disheartening. But I'm afraid things go much deeper. Do you suppose RV has asked TD to replace some of his assistants? Do you suppose RV has let TD know if he doesn't make some changes and improve real quick-he will not be the head coach in 2010? My prediction: NT wins one of its first 8 games in 2009, and TD is let go before the season is over.
  7. I have no problem being patient. Most here would say the same. However-if the coach in question is not the right coach for the job-why delay the inevitable? As I've mentioned before-the players on this team do not respect Coach Dodge. They won't sell out for him-and never will-sorry to say. Former players and parents have little to no confidence in his ability to lead NT to repectability. Threre are 2 reasons this man has a job-money, and RV. I have to agree with Lonnie Finch on this one-RV needs to become way more involved with the football program. Ask yourself this question-Do you see anything that would lead you to believe things are going to get better? And by the way-recruiting is an absolute joke right now.
  8. Regarding Turner Gill. I follow Nebraska football very closely. I can assure you guys there is no way TG will come to NT. Regardless of home ties. A very well conected Nebraska alum/booster has stated recently Turner will be up for several high profile jobs in the next few years-including-yes-Penn St-who is very interested in him. And yes-his interview at Nebraska was a "courtesy" interview. I think you guys need to be more concerned with the growing posibility(albeit a small one) that North Texas will not field a football program in a few years-its that bad. These players have NO respect for him at all. I feel very strongly that Todd Dodge needs to resign immediatly-because RV will not fire him. So be prepared for more of the same next year-sorry to say. My best advice would be to contact the president and AD to make your feelings known. These are truly desperate times for NT football gentlemen. Very sad indeed.
  9. I will concede the money issue to you-but friend-if you think Todd Dodge is the answer-you wouldn't like hearing some of the comments I have heard from folks who would know. There is enough talent here to win 3 games. If you don't beleive that-go ask the players how they feel about that. Take my word for it-this program is better off starting from scratch.
  10. Lonnie- You are only making it harder on yourself. Each week you have made similar posts expressing your opinion of Td's coaching abilities(or lack there of). I happen to agree with you 100%. However-I have been able to distance myself from frustration by accepting the fact that the program is so far gone right now-I only want to wake up when its been/being fixed. Unfortunately-I have zero fatih in RV to correct this problem and make the gutsy call to terminate Dodge at the end of this season-because its not going to happen. Of course-the lack of money will be the reason...blah blah blah. Those select few still looking the other way need to look a little harder and start asking some questions. The players have no respect for the head coach-and play like it. And as I've mentioned before-the parents of some recent former players are disgusted at what they see on the field. This is truly a sad time to be a fan. This program is almost an afterthought to most people at this point. Oh what I would do if we could lure a position coach at OU or Texas or even TCU to take this job. Wishful thinking......
  11. Gentleman- I think it's fair to say at this point that if Todd Dodge had 9 lives when he was hired, he is down to maybe 2 left. If he wins at least one game-he will return as coach. There is no doubt in my mind of that. However-If we get blown out every game the rest of the year and go winless-there needs to be serious discussion about his ability to lead this program. Will that actually happen? I guess we'll see. In my opinion, Todd Dodge should not be the head football coach at NT on a go forward basis. I have heard too many things from folks close to the program to change my mind. He is in way over his head. There is enough talent there to win 2-3 games-so draw your own conclussions.....
  12. NT80 hits the nail on the head. I would strongly suggest Riley and Coach Dodge have already been thinking "their" future at NT is anything but a given at this point. If the stadium vote fails-Riley=bye bye. TCU, SMU perhaps?
  13. +1 GG Bass. While many of you have heard this or that, or have inside information-I have heard almost the entire coaching staff appears to be in over its head. There is disgust among former players and strong supporters of the program. And while the talent level is not very high-there is certainly enough talent there to win 2-3 ballgames. Let there be no doubt-Coach Dodge will have to make several more coaching changes after the season. It is also imperative NT wins at least one game this year-for many reasons. At this point, I have my doubts. In addition-has anyone thought of the recruiting consequences for this year? Not a pretty sight. NT needs to HEAVILY recruit JUCO defensive players as well as OLineman. Dodge needs to be contacting them now.
