  1. Actually, was hoping this would be more a discussion of the consequences that RV will face if he chooses to stick with Dodge next year and we get blown out by 40 - 50 points in our 1st 4 games. Not anti RV at all, just wondering what his fate will be if this happens.
  2. Yes, lets just ignore all the positives that have occurred over the past 7 years and call the AD names because we are having a horrible football season. Thats productive.
  3. Don't let him do it. Still repairing the roof damage from his visit this past weekend. He's got no sense of balance.
  4. Dude, ease up. It's only humor, and not aimed at you. Seems like everyone has relied on Flyer for a lot of things. If it makes you feel better, you can make fun of me for double posting a topic.
  5. Another post got me thinking. What will RV's legacy be here if he retains Dodge through next season with the same disasterous results?? I think if this happens, it has the potential to cost RV his job. Like him or not, he has accomplished so much more here than any AD before him. Just look at the facilities that have been added under his tenure. Look at the attendance figures for a horrible product this year. From what I understand, he brought the tailgating atmophere to game day, also?? I wonder if this legacy could be lost if he goes to the wall for Dodge and it ends up costing him his job. It would really take some major stones to make that commitment to Dodge after this last year.
  6. Dodge reassigned! kidding!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Deloach is tied to Dodge, like it or not. If Dodge goes, a new coach will decide his staff. I don't think Deloach should be considered as the next coach here at this time.
  8. This post is so full of holes it makes me chuckle. How could this defense be getting it a$$ handed to it by halftime when Dodge has recruited so much talent??? Maybe Coaching?? Either that or Dodge has completely misunderestimated (love me some Bush) the talent level of the recruits. Don't tell me Frosh and Soph don't contribute immediately. There are soooo many examples of these players that do at every level of college football. We need only to Remember Jamario Thomas and his Frosh season for a local example. When all you see is regression in a team from one year to another and one game to another, at some point you have to question the coaching. When the team can not kick a friggin extra point consistently, that screams coaching. I would love for Dodge to stay here and win 6 games next year. I don't see either happening. As far as Deloach, you don't reward failure. Interm coach only for last game of this season (if Dodge is reassigned). This board really does need to think a little bigger.
  9. Absolutely none, although Mandy has always been nice to me Just doesn't seem to be any other course. It's not like we have bcome competetive late in the year. 0 improvement. There will be 0 improvement next year. The AD is trying to fund a new stadium. The president has shown a fairly strong commitment to athletics. It just seems natural. Like I said before, I wasn't critical of Dodge on here till after this last game. I believe that RV and GB are on top of this and will make the decision that they deem best for UNT in the long run. Not calling for his head, just don't see how he survives.
  10. No offense, but you just can't reward failure. Period. Dodge and Deloach are in this together. If one goes, both should. I seriously doubt that if Dodge gets fired, the new head coach is going to want any assistant associated with this staff. And how can anyone say there has been defensive improvement on this team?!?! Mindblowing. Couldn' find a pic, but remember "The Shiek". Man, imagine that poor wrestler trying to get through the airport today.
  11. Never happen. Will be down by at least 35 at the half. I believe Dodge gets reassigned after Ark St. game and then gives his resignation. Don't see any other course that makes sense.
  12. One good thing I think Dodge has done is try and break the culture of UNT Admins, fans, and Alum viewing the institution as 2nd rate in athletics. His bold statements about the need for the new stadium, recruitment (although mainly unsuccessfully) of high caliber recruits that we never even bothered to talk with before Dodge came here, and his total commitment to the program via student and media contact are a model for the next coach. Unfortunately, none of it transferred to success on the field, which is the measuring stick.

  14. Not necessarily. He only makes $180K base at Buffalo. I believe Nebraska was his Alma Mater, so they prob gave him a courtesy interview. With the athletic fee approved and the stadium in the works, we would be very attractive to an up and coming coach that knows how to turn around on the field performance.
  15. If Dodge leaves, I'd like to see us take a run at Turner Gill. former Arlington Heights QB. Maybe he would like to come back to his home state, which is a lot warmer than Buffalo in November. Save the "why would he come here" posts. I realize he may get other offers, but remember, this is home. Plus, we should start acting like the 3rd largest University in Texas, not whining that no one wants to come here.
  16. I hope you mean promote Deloach only as an interm until the end of the season. Don't think running the worst, by far, defense in D1 rates a promotion to head coach. I wonder if we will see Dodge re-assigned after next week's butt kicking. Don't know how effecive a recruiter he can be after this year.
  17. Guess we shoulda hired that other high school coach, the one that is starting to turn around Baylor's program and did turn around Houston's program. Damn bad luck.
  18. In all this bleakness during the weekly butt kicking, I decided to try something positive. I will remember GREAT weather for every game (with one still to go). I don't know if I saw one cloud on any game day (until 6 pm). As a first time season ticket holder, tailgating was great, especially the coeds and the Budweiser guys. We passed an athletic fee (much to the credit of UNT Flyer and his friends. Thier role in the future of this program should be remembered by all). The athletic fee WILL be the lasting memory of this season. It will allow us to be competetive in the future. I will renew my season tickets next year, no matter who is coaching. I will continue to bring new people to games, hoping to pursuade many to become fans. I will attend the last, painful game this year. I look forward to BBall season.
  19. damn MTSU coach. Playing subs like that in the 3rd qtr, they'll never score 79 points!!!! But seing as no one else chose to play, I win anyway!!! yea for me!!
  20. Don't abandon the program. As a donor, express your frustration constructively to RV and GB. I don't see any way that they are happy with the way things are progressing, er..regressing. There is no excuse for playing like a high school team week in and week out. You know it, they know it, and being a donor, you have a voice. Use it.
  21. Still wonder what the record is for negative point differential in a season. I think we have a shot at it this year, although that interception returned for a TD against WKU may hinder our efforts.
