  1. I called today to update some info on the forms they sent out to current season ticket holders. I asked about renewing our 4 seats with the Fall Classic Package (2 season tickets in D, $250 MCG) for $390. I want to add a seat for $100 and add another $250 to up our MGC level to $500. Daughter has 1 seat in her name to get the recent grad rate of $70 (sec. D) and $250 MCG to get another parking pass. We need 2. The rep was going to check into it, since no one has previously asked to do it this way. Does this make any sense, or is there a better option? I also noticed that parking in the Green lot has gone up to a $500 MGC membership level. Orange is still $250.

Has there been any talk of a "Meet Coach Dodge" event for season ticket holders, MGC members, alumni, etc.? Can't wait for the new season!

  2. Didn't say too much, nothing from DD or any players. They did say some positive stuff about having an exciting next few weeks. They did mention that Johnny Quinn's 4 receptions made him the all time leading receiver in the SunBelt, not just at NT!

  3. When I was asking in general if there was a reason for the all black, a young man that sits in front of us (sorry, don't know his name but Beck told me he (not Beck, the young man!) played 4 years for DD) said that the players wanted to do it for the Coach because the AD who fired him (RV) hates the all black jerseys. Just my 2 cents.

  4. I was on the newspaper staff in HS and my sponsor graduated from NT. We attended a HS Journalism convention at NT and attended another at UT. At UT a professor spoke to a group of us interested in majoring in RTVF. He mentioned that class was all theory until you were a senior and that's when you got hands on experience with equipment (TV cameras, radio eauipment, editing, directing, etc.) They had too many students to allow any real experience before then. I also didn't like the campus, thought it was too big with too many students. I loved NT and was using equipment from practically the first day I set foot in class. Graduated four years later ('74) with a RTVF major, Journalism minor. Also, I met my future husband in front of Willis Library while he was in Denton visiting a mutual friend. NT was the best decision I ever made!

  5. Wow! Didn't know about it until just now when I signed onto the board! I'm SPEECHLESS! Not to mention shocked! I really thought Coach D would be here another year. I'm another one glad this necessary decision was made before the end of the season. See you at the last home game.

Good luck and good health, Coach.

  6. Just got back from a visit to Phoenix this evening. Brother-in-law told us the same thing. It's a really big stadium, looks kinda' like a UFO (from the highway anyway). It has a movable field that can be pulled out of the stadium on some kind of tracks. Apparently the team practices on the field outside and then it's rolled back in for the games. (Or so I was told.)

If you ever go to Phoenix visit the Heard Museum downtown. It has a wonderful collection of Native American objects (primarily AZ tribes) including Katsina (mistakenly called Kachina) dolls, clothing, pottery, weavings, and jewelry in a beautiful Spanish hacienda style building. Well worth the trip.

  7. The season is not over. My butt will be in my season ticket seat for every home game because I am not a fairweather fan. I am behind the Mean Green whether we are 1-5 or 5-1. That's called supporting the players and your school. This does not mean that I do not think changes are in order.

    See you Saturday.

  8. I think I read on this board or somewhere that we had 700+ now. I know I added one yesterday. I paid for an expensive ($250) MGC parking pass for my daughter yesterday morning. She works every Saturday and has to drive up separately from Fort Worth. If I had only known that for the rest of the season she could have paid $10 and parked in the blue lot since no one will be coming to the games!

We'll still be in our seats.

  9. The powers that be need to make the decision that we are going to commit this University to being a competitive member of 1-A division athletics, or just give it up and go back to I-AA. Until they make that definitive committment, we are going no where, fast.

That said, I WILL be in the stands, I WILL support MY TEAM, come hell or high water.

    GMG!
