  1. I don't know what the hell Politico is, so if they've got a slant or a bias... I just found this a week or two ago through Longform. Fun read! http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/08/25/jerry-falwell-miami-hostel-liberty-university-trey-falwell-215528
  2. That's not entirely true. I'm not necessarily going to wait for Wren's contract to completely expire before making any decisions.
  3. I think Coach DiBiase needs to have a winning record or issue a substantial refund. Just this guy's opinion, of course.

  5. Not just for me, too... But also my dad. He's been excited about potentially going to Camp Randall to watch us play Wisconsin since years before the game was even booked. And, not to be morbid... But, this might be the difference between getting to enjoy that experience together and not. Actuarially speaking, our odds of making that trip together just dropped by about 35%.
  6. If ever there was a time to bring back the Pizza Inn Nazi, his moment is probably now. PIN stock will (hopefully?) never be higher.
  7. Actually, @Harry and I are all good. He's even the one who helped me come to terms with this sort of equivalence. It was on that darkest of days, nearly 16 years ago. Terrorists had just crashed airplanes into the World Trade Center, killing thousands. I was at GMG headquarters, and I was so overcome with emotions that I had to excuse myself. I went to the bathroom, and sat down to pee. I'm not ashamed to admit to you, @Shuke-D, that I wept in that stall. Tears of sorrow. Tears of pain. Tears of frustration. Tears of rage. I wanted vengeance... answers... a sense of reason in a world that seemed to have gone insane in the blink of an eye. And @Harry, brave leader and sensitive soul that he is, must have seen it in my eyes when I'd fled our office. He wisely gave me enough time to stop crying and peeing like a pathetic woman, then entered and sat in the stall next to me. And I'll always remember what he said through those toilet stall walls to comfort me. "Tasty, stop your stinking thinking. No extremists are completely innocent of violence. Neither side is "innocent" in this stuff. Those terrorists who climbed aboard airplanes at the Boston Airport this morning and crashed them into the World Trade Center, killing thousands? It's just a natural and equal response to those domestic terrorists who climbed aboard boats in the Boston Harbor and committed horrific crimes against property when they brutally cast those crates of tea into the water 228 years ago. "I refuse to call them anti-American. And you mustn't look at the horrors of today as heartbreaking tragedies of their own... Remember something someone else may have done a long time ago, and smash your thumb on the emotional and moral scales as hard as you need to in order to make those 342 crates of 18th century tea equal out to almost 3,000 dead people smoldering in New York right now. Focus not on the people of today. Cling tenaciously to the property of yesterday. Because, surely, you don't think the violence and rioting and destruction of others property is only bad if someone is killed? Sad..." I tell you, friends... He was absolutely right. I knew immediately that @Harry had given me wisdom and perspective that would serve me well for the rest of my life, as long as I didn't lose my grasp on that perspective. So, I went out and bought a bumper sticker to remind me. The lesson meant that much to me, and I resolved to carry it with me for the rest of my days. And that's why I will Never Forget September 11th, 2001.
  8. That link was not a hilarious Dilbert cartoon, nor was it an episode of "Kevin Can Wait". So, no, there was nothing humorous about it. Frankly, seeing the story about that man being killed made me think of my own neighbor, who had his mailbox knocked over just a few months ago. And when I think about that nearly identical crime against property, it just makes those emotions all the more raw and terrible.
  9. Sad if anyone felt that way, but obviously not. Destruction of property is terrible under all circumstances, and anyone who would focus on this incident and the death of this woman just because it happened a day and a half ago and it's the specific subject of the thread is a jerk or a fool. When lefty protestors damage property because of their extremist views, we need to hold them accountable. That's why I'm hoping the authorities make a few more arrests in Charlottesville and give proper consequences to those responsible for damage to this poor guy's car. That guy's Dodge is probably totaled. Obviously, the dead woman is going to get away scott free, though hopefully they can sue her relatives or something to recover some of the replacement cost. But, for the other 19 (or however many) people that wrecked his bumper, his hood, his windshield, or what have you? Cuff them to their hospital beds and throw the book at them. Ideally, at a part of their body that didn't already get hit by a car. Otherwise, it'll just give them something else to whine about. It's easy to look at a gathering of Nazis, Klansmen, and such, and get distracted by a few crybabies whining about a couple dozen people getting intentionally mauled with a car or beaten with metal pipes. We need to make sure we don't lose perspective on what really matters, which is damaged property, whether now or from months ago. Neither side is innocent. Hold everyone responsible. Because the only thing worse than a liberal bleeding heart is a literal bleeding heart that ruins the paint job on someone's sweet Challenger.
  10. I hadn't heard about that "Berkley" situation... Presumably because whatever property got destroyed wasn't run over by a car with a corpse in its grille and two dozen injured human beings getting dragged along behind it. Still, though, I think it's important right now that we denounce ALL extremism, not focus on the neo-Nazis and Confederacy worshippers in Charlottesville just because a few snowflakes got their safe spaces invaded by a Dodge bumper or a few steel poles. All Protestors Matter, damnit. We mustn't forget it.
  11. Just looks like a bunch of stinkin thinkin to me. If those people hadn't been on the streets or sidewalks, or laying injured and bleeding on the road as the guy put his car in reverse and backed over them, then they never would have gotten hit in the first place. Or, second place, as their individual situations merit. There's guilt on both sides. This isn't like France. That guy used a truck.
  12. When freedom of speech stops being a two way street, that's when domestic terrorists have to put their car in reverse to kill more people. I paraphrase the great Martin Luther King Jr. when I say that I dream of a day when we finally have a two way street that allows white supremacists to make legal u-turns to mow down counter-protestors. Until that day, I'm in the "neither side is innocent" camp, too. Use the crosswalks, thugs.
  13. I also think we ought to reconsider the city name. It's been 151 years, and the name "Denton" sounds old, lame, and tired. We need to rebrand, and make sure that announcers refer to our university's location as D-Town, D-Central, or maybe The D-Zone. If we want to get exxxtreme with it, maybe "Tha D-Zone". Swapping in an "a" in the word "the" will help us connect with young fans and athletes alike. Anyway... I just hope that Tha D-Zone leadership will finally pull their heads out of the ground and show some initiative. We can only go so far as a program until they do.
  14. I was thinking we needed to go by a name that's short, punchy, undeniably cool, and not at all directional. We should just call ourselves "Ace". Or maybe "Gunner". Short, tough, memorable, cool, and don't make any difference between up, down, or sideways. Thoughts?
  15. Someone on the hill is more appealing to me than the same someone in their dorm or house. Try to make that hangout less attractive to them, and you'll probably push 9 out of 10 of them away from the stadium, not into it.
  16. I think it's obvious why we wouldn't be interested... At least 2 other D1 schools offered him a scholarship. He doesn't fit our system. Wake me when Hardin-Simmons offers. Then I bet we jump in the race.
  17. (Not a knock on Mr. Kuehne, just what immediately came to mind when I saw the eyes and the quote)
  18. You can't really evaluate them until you see how they develop and perform, which isn't really a clear and full picture until after they play their last game of eligibility. And at that point, we really need to quit harping on the past and look to the future, particularly the incoming recruits we have coming on board that no one can really evaluate. Except for the ones with 3+ stars from somewhere or offers from other, bigger schools. So... Never.
  19. There's one born every minute. And this clown show is where they and their money will be soon parted. Either of those the one you meant? Give me Tyson v Secretariat
  20. Really? If you want, I'll just call you the next time I eat Indian food and you can pay me $10 to stare at my toilet for an hour. For 90% off, you still get to see a hideous pile of shit that was the inevitable result of a bad idea that never should have been indulged in the first place. And you can take the money you saved and spend it on Golovkin vs Canelo.
  21. Based on the account that was transcribed at the time, and not disputed by any of the other people who were present at the "Division from within" pep talk... That's spot on. And, interestingly enough, the "M" part of the alleged blanket damning of our fans didn't pop up until well after. No one else at the time even claimed to have heard him say anything but the F'er part. But, like the rest of the story, the real fun everyone seems to have had is in the embellishment.
  22. Anyone else remember what he actually said, and the context in which he said it?
  23. "And the answer is: 'Kids don’t respond to interim coaches like they would head coaches. Generally speaking that is the players’ worst academic semester. They are less focused in the weight room and in life. There are going to be more issues with behavior.' " "What is: The fallacy of confusing the impact of a doomed coach and failed season with the impact of firing that coach mid-season.' "Correct for $200! You still control the board." "Let's take 'Funny Money' for $1.6 million"
