  1. As im reading during the 1/2 dallas game. The news gives some coverage only its about the gay homecoming vote. Still have my UNT plates for the Nav & lexus still in envelope - sad really Someone please tell me how the stadium will change all this!
  2. Can we buy online - I'm sure the sales would increase if that were an option!
  3. it's on tv - never seen this before 30 min show@5pm today
  4. Yes!!! I told wife I will know @ 5 if our kids can go to UNT in 12 years! Sad but true
  5. make posters near voting areas and tv with video along with dancers and cheerleaders Those pics say it all How can that not matter to recruits?
  6. Any word regarding the 6:30 am meeting TD mentioned last night - I got the impression he said for the players who are care need to show up...and the rest - hmmm
  7. caught much grief from the OU, TX, Penn State & even a freakn UTAlmost grad (No pun intended - well maybe). As superficial as it may sound to current students - Pass the Stadium vote and we will recruit better - so you won't have to deal with this stuff - I don't think it's all in good fun - maybe if we lost by 14 or 21. Students, pls understand you will one day realize how much College Football is "Talked about" @ work! Even if you don't care about sports - odds are - you will once you graduate! Perception sometimes is more important than reality - just how it is. Ask around, the same applies to your text books - what your being taught vs. how companies are actually ran (As sad as that sounds)! The average college student remembers 20% of what they learned - maybe that's why most employers don't care what your major is! For the most part, your Degree is viewed by how well our Athletic Programs are! Don't we have a higher SAT scores than TTU? Yet, most people believe TTU is a larger school with smarter kids! Ask yourself why and vote yes - it will be you who will benefit most from this in 4,5 or even 10 yrs from now when we are competitive - facilities will make a difference to future recruits! Just get upset when, I'm smarter, faster, better than most of my work peers - yet, they feel superior because they win in college athletics! It's got to change! GO MEAN GREEN - IT CAN HAPPEN! Wow - I feel better now! LOL
  8. TROPHY CLUB, Texas (7/15/08) - The North Texas athletic department hosted one of its first social events of the summer this past weekend at the Trophy Club Country Club. More than 40 guests attended the Mean Green Social to help kick-off the 2008 football season. Athletic director Rick Villarreal opened the evening with an overview of the athletic department and the recent success of the programs. Head coach Todd Dodge then took the stage and talked about the football program and the upcoming season. Dodge ended the night with questions from the audience which ranged from current players to the new football stadium. Anyone go?
  9. http://media.www.ntdaily.com/media/storage...e-3349607.shtml "If you incorporate LEED in the construction process early on," he said, "it can be in almost any kind of building." NT will have more 'green' buildings in the future, including the new stadium, he said, which would be one of the first in the country. "Not only are we the Mean Green, but we are going to have a 'green' stadium," Kearby said, with a laugh.
  10. maybe I am missing it - but regarding the costs (Excluding UT) Is there really that big of a difference? We are talking a few hundred bucks a semester! I'm talking about incoming freshman! 98% of them don't care and the parents don't either? UNT: $6,100 / $14,400 UT-Austin: $7,438 / $16,635 Tx A&M: $6,234 / $13,914 UH: $6,450 / $12,326 TxTech: $6,452 / $14,192 UT-D: $6,832 / $16,612 Overall Texas Tuition: $4,857 / $12,953 AGAIN, WINNING IN ATHLETICS WILL CHANGE ALMOST EVERYTHING!!! People want to be associated with "Winners" - IMHO - Very few care about "Academic" or "How much I paid for College" - it's all about the ESPN highlights and Championships and being able to compete with your coworkers from different colleges "Athletically not Academically". Trust me, after a few yrs job experience - FEW care about your major or where you went to school academically - The "Water Cooler" talk is about who plays who this week and who will win! Simple - 2 things 1) Stop accepting so many transfer students 2) Athletic Success Easier said than done - I know.
  11. ok - math was a little wrong maybe it's more like 30-40% delta - anyways - I doubt most students really are concerned with $7K vs. $5K per semester Kids are picking schools based on other factors - most of the time, especially if mom & dad are paying or getting loans.
  12. For example - We are talking about $2K semester less for UNT vs ATM http://education-portal.com/articles/Texas...er_Schools.html What is the big deal? To me ATM, UT, UNT and TT are about the same cost - all within 20% - plus when you add cost of living I would assume the gap gets closer with ATM and TT. Just my opinion.
  13. what channel should the game be on in DFW? thx
  14. I saw this on Fox Sports SW - Can Anyone confirm this will be on tv?
  15. Briefly UNT will send material this week to various All-America voting panels to pitch Casey Fitzgerald, who has 85 catches for 1,126 yards and 12 touchdowns. Thursday's game at Arkansas State was moved from a Saturday to accommodate deer season for many ASU fans. The game was originally scheduled to be carried by ESPN Regional and aired locally on KTXA/Channel 21, but now will only be carried on ESPN Gameplan on a pay-per-view basis. UNT at Arkansas State 6 p.m. Thursday, Indian Stadium, Jonesboro, Ark. Records: UNT 1-8, 1-4 Sun Belt; Arkansas State 4-6, 2-4 Radio: KWRD/100.7 FM, KNTU/88.1 FM Troy Phillips, 817-390-7760 tphillips@star-telegram.com
  16. DENTON -- From seemingly out of nowhere, North Texas junior Casey Fitzgerald has forced the Sun Belt Conference to pay attention. Fitzgerald's league-high 64 catches and 892 yards have him on track to all-conference honors. But if he keeps it up, does the former walk-on and special-teams player deserve more? At UNT, Fitzgerald essentially plays in a vacuum. He lacks the benefit of national television or a big-name football school on his jersey. His story would play well nationally -- he wasn't recruited out of high school (Red Oak), had five catches before this season and even spent time on UNT's scout team. "I just play to play," Fitzgerald said when asked if he felt any national recognition to be unreasonable. "If it happens, great. If not, I wouldn't be disappointed at all. We're a small school. I understand. It's what it is." Fitzgerald is one of three players in the Bowl Subdivision's top five in receptions per game (third at 9.1), receiving yards per game (fifth at 127.4), catches (fifth) and yards (fourth). Texas Tech's Michael Crabtree (88 catches) and Kansas State's Jordy Nelson (68) are the others. Last week, ballots to pare the Biletnikoff Award watch list to 10 semifinalists were due. A second vote to select three finalists for the honor as the nation's top receiver is next month. Making the final 10 would be a victory for Fitzgerald and UNT in a tough season (1-6, 1-3 Sun Belt). One voter, Star-Telegram writer Jimmy Burch, said Fitzgerald made his ballot. But fan out geographically, and Fitzgerald's chances shrink. "I don't know why that would be," UNT coach Todd Dodge said of Fitzgerald possibly being overlooked. "Obviously, we could probably help that out by winning more games. He's having a fantastic year." Last week at Troy, Fitzgerald probably had his worst game with six catches for 47 yards and no touchdowns. He has four 100-yard receiving games, including an 18-catch, 327-yard performance against SMU. He turned a 4-yard pass into a 99-yard TD against Louisiana-Monroe. Against Oklahoma, Arkansas and Florida Atlantic, Fitzgerald had a combined 20 catches. Good numbers, but not as outstanding as Fitzgerald's touchdowns (six) and yards per catch (13.94) in those games. Biletnikoff voter Ken Gordon of the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch said he lacked such knowledge or even Fitzgerald's name. Gordon went off the original, unadjusted watch list that didn't include Fitzgerald or other newcomers such as Crabtree. Said Dodge: "If anybody came to see him play and really watched him, they'd appreciated how complete he is, from being a possession guy to taking a short catch the distance or catching a long one over the top." Making his name Where North Texas receiver Casey Fitzgerald ranks in various national categories: Category Stat Rank Leader Stat Receptions 64 Fifth M. Crabtree, Texas Tech 88 Receptions/gm. 9.1 Third Crabtree 11.0 Rec. yds. 892 Fourth Crabtree 1,320 Rec. yds./gm. 127.4 Fifth Crabtree 165.0 NORTH TEXAS VS. MIDDLE TENNESSEE, 6 P.M. SATURDAY

  19. We live in Keller... Southlake is awesome. A while back, CNN had the top ten expensive zip codes to live in US and Southlake made the list. I wonder if Dodge lives in SL? He can probably afford it now... Imagine being R Dodge, I'm sure he is a local celebrity! LOL (And some of us thought we were cool back in the day - Imagine being him) Most people living there are CEOs, Musicians/Writers, Athletes, Docs, etc. BTW - Think Southlake is nice, drive through Westlake (Population < 1,000) Wonder how many Alumni we have living there?
  20. Will the hiring of Todd Dodge encourage you to attend more games? Results Will the hiring of Todd Dodge encourage you to attend more games? Yes 76.19% 32 votes No 23.81% 10 votes http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...s/vitindex.html

  22. 08:02 AM CDT on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 By Brett Vito / Staff Writer North Texas will work out at Darrell R. Dickey Football Practice Facility next season after all. The sign beside the school’s practice fields that was left partially blank for the last several months had Dickey’s name added Tuesday morning, ending months’ of debate over how the facility would be named after the Mean Green’s former head coach was fired Nov. 8. DRC/Gary Payne North Texas officials unveiled a brick sign Tuesday naming the school's football practice fields after former coach Darrell Dickey, who was fired in November. The fields were originally to be named after UNT letterman and Houston businessman Jim McIngvale, who donated $1 million toward the construction of the Mean Green Athletic Center in 2004. McIngvale said at the time that he made the donation because of his respect for what Dickey had accomplished while leading the Mean Green to four straight Sun Belt Conference titles from 2001-04. Dickey was fired less than two years later during the second of consecutive losing seasons, a move McIngvale criticized. He later demanded that UNT rename the fields after Dickey or redirect his donation to the school’s One O’clock Lab Band. UNT’s Board of Regents voted to name the fields after Dickey before the former coach stepped in and asked that they be named after former Mean Green quarterback Andrew Smith, who died in a car accident prior to the 2004 season. McIngvale backed Dickey’s request. “That [naming the fields after Dickey] was what was presented to the board and that is what we are going to put on the sign,” UNT athletic director Rick Villarreal said. “Darrell did a great job and left a lot of great memories here. He made an impression on a booster who was moved to donate that money. It was great for Mr. McIngvale to do that.” Dickey has since landed a job as the offensive coordinator at Utah State and could not be reached for comment. He finished with a 42-64 record at UNT, including a 5-18 mark in his last two campaigns. “I think it’s great,” McIngvale said. “Coach Dickey gave a lot to the university and did a lot for the football program. It’s best for everyone involved.” Briefly … Dallas Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips stopped by UNT on Tuesday during a camp being conducted by new Mean Green head coach Todd Dodge.
