  1. Guy has tremendous field vision and was making plays all over the field the other night. Terrific athlete, good wheels and arm. I think if he was playing with a D1 line and receivers he could be special. https://tsusports.com/sports/football/roster/andrew-body/5452
  2. After losing in week one to Southern Methodist University, football defeated Texas Southern University 59-27 at home Saturday night. “Taking the next step after a loss is always challenging,” head coach Seth Littrell said. “I felt like our kids responded this week. I thought it was a good bounce back.” North Texas (2-1, 1-0 Conference USA) capped its first drive with a 44-yard field goal from senior kicker Ethan Mooney. Redshirt freshman linebacker Sifa Leota recorded his first tackle and sack of his career when he brought down sophomore Tigers quarterback Andrew Body and forced a punt. In the following play, sophomore running back Ayo Adeyi ran for a 59-yard touchdown to give the Mean Green an early 10-0 lead. Adeyi’s run was the longest score of his career and his first touchdown of the season. Texas Southern (0-2, 0-1 SWAC) responded with a field goal of its own. In turn, the Mean Green countered with a 35-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Austin Aune to redshirt freshman receiver Ja’Mori Maclin on the first play of the second quarter. The two teams traded touchdowns on the next four possessions, starting with a 39-yard score from junior running back Ladarius Owens. Aune came back with another touchdown pass, this time to junior receiver Jyaire Shorter. The catch was Shorter’s first touchdown since 2019 after being sidelined due to an injury three games into the 2020 season. The Tigers marched down the field on their next drive and scored on a pass that was deflected into the hands of junior receiver AJ Bennett in the end zone. Aune followed with a 70-yard touchdown to junior receiver Roderic Burns, the longest catch of his career. Burns has now recorded a catch in 19 consecutive games. read more: https://www.ntdaily.com/icymi-football-back-in-the-win-column-after-defeating-texas-southern/
  3. Anyone heard anything. I know the Littrell depth charts are similar to one-ply toilet paper but was hoping perhaps someone had some good news on him to share. Huge loss if he is out against UNLV who is much improved in my opinion. The barely lost to Cal on the road. GMG
  4. Week 0 has come and gone, and Week 1 is underway as of Thursday night. One of the teams that enter this weekend at 1-0 is the North Texas Mean Green, who beat UTEP on Saturday, 31-13. At the helm for the Mean Green is quarterback Austin Aune. He completed 16 passes for 236 yards and three touchdowns, without an interception. Aune led his team to its first win of the season and earned Conference USA Player Of The Week honors in the process. In addition to his on-field talent, he has one of the most unique stories in college football. Austin Aune is the oldest starting quarterback on the FBS level The North Texas quarterback graduated high school in 2012. Born in 1993, he will turn 29 years old on Tuesday. Aune, who saw time for North Texas in each of the last three seasons, won the starting job outright during fall camp. It marks his fifth year at the collegiate level after beginning at Arkansas during the spring of 2018 and transferring to UNT before that fall. Yes, you read that correctly. Aune graduated high school six years before he enrolled in college. read more: https://www.outkick.com/austin-aune-north-texas-28-year-old-high-school-2012-oldest-quarterback-college-football/

  7. DALLAS – North Texas junior quarterback Austin Aune was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week presented by Blenders Eyewear, the league announced on Monday. The junior from Argyle, Texas, made the first opening-game start of his career after throwing for 236 yards and three touchdowns on 16-of-29 passing in the Mean Green's 31-13 win in El Paso on Saturday night. Aune's stat line stretched his career totals against UTEP to 778 passing yards, nine touchdown passes and no interceptions to go with his 3-0 record. He is the first UNT student-athlete to garner Player of the Week honors since Jaelon Darden in December of 2020. With his three touchdown passes in the game, Aune moved to ninth on the program's career touchdown passes list with 26. His yardage total brought his career output to 4,013 passing yards to put him in eighth place on the program's career passing list. Aune and the Mean Green will host SMU in their home opener at Apogee Stadium on Saturday with the game set for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff.
  8. OFFICIAL: SMU vs NTS Predictions http://www.ponyfans.com/phpBB3/styles/we_clearblue/imageset/icon_post_target.gifby ALEX LIFESON » Sun Aug 28, 2022 12:36 pm Normally do the official prediction thread on Monday, but since North Texas State has already played a game, let's do this a day early. Watching their game last night, they looked better than last year, taking a seven win UTEP team to the woodshed, in front of a big home crowd. They were also missing a couple of starting receivers and one of their top defenders..... but guess what, all are expected back for the SMU game. Could be a tough one in Denton. You know the old saying, teams improve the most, from week one to week two. read more: http://www.ponyfans.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=91409&sid=25bd278cdb08dbce04f32148f89000c0
  9. A lightning alert put a delay to the week zero showdown for the UTEP football team against the University of North Texas, but it did not stop the fans from showing up to see the Miners back in action. This was UTEP’s first sellout at the Sun Bowl since 2008. In the first half, the Miners and the Mean Green traded offensive possessions, scoring either a touchdown or field goal. The Miners then trailed 14-10 toward the end of the half. The defense was able to cause a fumble and give the offense an opportunity to set up a field goal cutting the Mean Green’s lead to 14-13 at halftime. In the second half, the Miners struggled to move the ball down the field because of the Mean Green’s stifling defense, which made the Miners go 7-of-18 on third down conversions. The Miners could not score any more points in the second half, which led to a Mean Green 31-13 victory at the end of the game. read more: https://www.theprospectordaily.com/2022/08/28/miners-collapse-in-week-zero-opener/
  10. In the opener matchup versus UTEP, North Texas scored 14 points in both the second and third quarters during a 31-13 win. Austin Aune threw for 236 yards and three scores, while Ayo Adeyi rushed for 80 yards on 17 carries. Roderic Burns posted three catches for 72 yards as well. The Mustangs are 5-1 ATS in their last six non-conference games and 22-7 ATS in their last 29 in September. SMU is 8-21 in their last 29 road games. Meanwhile, the Green are 5-0 ATS in their last five on turf and 6-1 ATS in their last seven overall. North Texas is 0-4 ATS in their last four versus the AAC. PICK: I’m probably going with SMU here. New head coach Rhett Lashlee and his staff have their work cut out for them, but if all goes well the Mustangs are certainly capable of making some noise in the conference this year. Three of the team’s top four targets (Danny Gray, Reggie Roberson and Grant Calcaterra) are gone, so we’ll be seeing some new faces in the fray along with No. 1 receiver Rashee Rice. SMU should throw the ball often, and if the running game can tag along with average numbers the team will win games. I think it’ll all start here with a cover. That said, North Texas looked pretty good against UTEP with their 24 first downs and 5.7 yards per play on Saturday. You wouldn’t be crazy for jumping on the Mean Green bandwagon. 11. Quinn Whitlock looked like a very good player last night and had the most tackles next to KD (7). Larry Nixon is a very good linebacker who just happens to be in the shadow of a great one in KD. People are slamming the secondary but I like what I saw of Gaddie and Ridge Texada. Is it just my eyes or did Fedechi Nwaiwu play a whole lot on the offensive line last night? If not him who was that? I did not see Sifa Leota out there much if at all. Also is Aune trying to throw it at the shoestrings like is Bloesch telling him to do that so he won't get intercepted or whatnot? It is not a good look. He needs to stop it. Any other observations?
  12. SAN DIEGO — A lawsuit has been filed against three current and former San Diego State University football players, alleging they gang-raped a 17-year-old girl at an off-campus party in October 2021. The defendants named in the lawsuit include former Aztecs punter, Matt Araiza, who was drafted by the Buffalo Bills; Zavier Leonard, who is a current member of the Aztecs team; and Nowlin “Pa’a” Ewaliko, who is a former member of the San Diego State team. read more: https://www.cbs8.com/amp/article/news/investigations/alleged-rape-victim-three-sdsu-football-players/509-10d32185-ed7b-48b0-afb7-be4718ba9270
