  1. 4352 is a good number. I'm wondering how many of those there tonight were there because of the freebie. The Pit Crew was big and loud, but they get in without additional charge anyway. The only difference I saw was some FAU fans in "50 yard line" seats. I hope we don't do a freebie basketball game again.

  2. I find it ironic that NTerock is looking for a hooded sweatshirt. I'd love to buy several GREEN crew neck sweatshirts but I can't find them. I would have never thought to look at JC PENNEY's. And remember everyone, if we want to see NT gear in local department dtores, we need to buy that gear from local department stores. If it sells at Penney's, you can bet that other retailers will notice and stock Mean Green gear at their stores.

  3. Letters to the editor January 19, 2011

This latest foul-up by UNT’s Athletic Department is symbolic of the vast amount of money being spent, especially on the football program with no hope that the exaggerated predictions will be anywhere close to reality. They have never filled the old stadium, and I believe will never fill the new stadium, despite spending.

The problem is not the stadium but the team’s potential. They will not be a football power, despite all their longings.

Fact, assistant coaches are leaving, the women’s basketball coach was suspended for a game and the new football coach has not proven he is a winner.

Oh, well, it’s only our tax money, and the athletic department is oblivious to any sort of reality.

Could someone respond to this letter. It was in today's DR-C (1-19).

  4. The A train will have stops near Denton Regional Hospital (Mayhill Road near I-35) and downtown across from the Police station (near Bell Avenue @ E. Hickory st.) I understand that shuttles will be available to ferry fans from the downtown station and RV Park.

  5. I was there along with my 7 month pregnant wife. We flew to Reno on the team plane. We were impressed with how mannerly the football team was. Since it was a charter, a player was chosen to sit in the cockpit for each take off and landing. Although the only name I remember is QB Greg Carter.

The team stayed in Sparks NV. to avoid distractions before the game. When we landed, the sky was blue and the temperature was moderate. At game time, we had every kind of weather possible except sunshine. on of the fans, Larry Wisdom I think, went out and bought a giant roll of plastic and many of the NT fans took shelter from the wind and rain and snow under the plastic.

I may be wrong on this, but I recall this being the first game played in the first 1-AA playoffs ever. And I also remember this game as having the first ever NCAA "shoot out" tie breaker. Per my memory, each team had a first possession with no score, and on the second, we failed to score and Reno kicked a FG to win. And I remember Corky kicked the headlight out of the Reno ambulance. Also a NCAA record.

I don't remember a delay getting back home. Here again, the skies were blue and the temp moderate.

It was a great trip. And I was most proud of my wife who sat through the entire game, cold but without complaint. GMG

  6. There's not much about NT at the "fanbase" page. North Texas played DePaul home and home. When the Blue Demons came to Denton, and I was there, they were ranked numbeer 1 in the nation. The previous year, Kenneth Lyons and Mark Agire had a real battle in Chicage. Lyons had not forgotten when Aguire came to the Coliseum. depaul won, but not until after Lyons threw Aguire over the North Texas bench.
