  1. One of the things I wonder about with our recruiting, and I will probably say this the wrong way, but are we recruiting better HS players as opposed to better players with potential for growth? It seem, at least on the surface, 3* ratings are given out more often, so the challenge is finding players who have not peaked or reached the top of their development. I know, easier said than done.
  2. 100% Agree. With our luck we make it to the AAC just to see it go away like CUSA when we left the Belt
  3. We have to stop thinking of the AAC with the leverage it has today. When the dust settles everything will be different. Yes everyone, including UNT would probably jump, but the Big 12 is not finished. Lets sat they end up taking Memphis and SMU along with Cincinnati and Houston. And if they don't take SMU but still take UCF (for example) then SMU probably heads west along with Tulsa or Tulane.
  4. If Memphis leaves and then perhaps SMU, Tulane, or Tulsa (sad to say) head to the MWC, what's left of the AAC is not in much of a position to dictate. They might invite UAD and a couple of the Belt schools, but Who knows how that works. The Belt has 3 programs that seem to have leverage; Louisiana, App State, and Costal. App has shown the ability to maintain a program, but with Louisiana and Costa you run the risk of fall off when, not if, their current coaches leave. With Costal also keep in mind their all time record attendance is less than 16K
  5. Hopefully with experience they will become more disciplined. I would like to think a lot of their mistakes are due to being overaggressive. If they keep progressing and learn to play in control they could be special.
  6. Hawaii has 15 players from Texas. Guess they didn't worry about the traveling 😈😇
  7. I know you can access with the CBS Sports site but not sure if its tied to your plan with your service provider
  8. Part of me thinks its best if we don't do well the rest of the season while the Mean Green until the end part of me wants us to turn it around. I hate thinking it would be best if we lose but I honestly do not think Seth can turn thing around and build the program any longer. Do you believe Seth can turn it around and be the right HC to lead the program moving forward?
  9. Then hire his dad 😈 and cutoff the middleman for transfers
  10. Not saying as a HC, but find a way to get him on the staff. SMU has already promoted him a couple of times to keep him. He considered one of the best recruiters around and he brings strong ties (through his father) to the Dallas HS scene.
  11. Either that or hire his dad. He seems to be the middle man.
  12. Find a way to get Ra’Shaad Samples away from SMU.
  13. Thanks for the information. So it seems to highlight Seth lack of success in developing talent.
  14. Noticed watching SFA on Saturday he is playing for them now
  15. I think he makes somewhere in the $700K range. We could double his salary and still pay 2 good coordinators with the savings from Seth.
  16. Would be interesting. The only problem I see is that it seems the rating services are being more and more generous with the ratings
  17. But even Houston gets a higher level of players than we do. Don't get me wrong I am a fan of Sumlins, just would rather see us go with someone like Keller or Carthel, or my top choice of Holtz.
  18. I worry about coaches who are used to working with 4 and 5 star players. I'm not even close to understanding the whole star system, and of course 5 stars and 4 stars "should" have more "ready-to-go" potential, but with 3 stars it seems that the bigger key is to determine which players have the most potential for growth as opposed to players who might have, or been close to peaking in HS. I think it is more important than ever to have a coach and staff who can develop players
  19. I think Traylor is best suited to coach in Texas with his HS connections. Think he might sit back and wait for Houston, Tech, Baylor, or TCU to open up. A flyer might be LSU if Coach is let go.
  20. Holtz and Keller are tops on my list. I would love to duplicate what LA Tech has. If you watch the Sam Houston games they are very well coached in all phases of the game. As far as P5 assistants I would prefer to have someone who has had to develop talent and not always working with 4 and 5 start players
