  1. We had a longhorn guy in our section as well. He was cheering for NT though, so it could have been worse.
  2. Game starts at 1pm, and it is going to be a sloppy one. That benefits USA in my opinion, because sloppy conditions usually take some of the "skill" out of the game and it becomes a crapshoot. I will probably go get wet watching it, but won't be posting updates. Go Mean Green! Live Stats (Link will be available at start time).
  3. Winning in front of 13k > Losing in front of 13k.
  4. The attendance number is embarassing, but at least we won. If we can somehow pull off a win against Lafayette we should have a pretty good crowd against ULM.
  5. Friday night around the Sun Belt: Denver 7-0 USA WKU 0-0 FIU NT 4-1 Troy ASU 2-0 ULL UALR 3-0 ULM MTSU 2-1 FAU Home teams were undefeated this week, with the lone draw coming in the WKU/FIU game. Denver...Wow. Putting up 7 goals is a big deal no matter what the competition level, and USA is not a bad team. MTSU says on the right path, which is upwards. They belong no lower than 5th, which is (in my opinion) the cut off for the top tier of SBC teams. We are one game away from the halfway point. Here are the standings (I'll start using tiebreakers after game #6): (5-0): Denver, NT (4-0-1): FIU (3-2): MTSU (2-2-1): USA, WKU (2-3): Troy, ASU, UALR (1-3-1): FAU (0-5): ULM, ULL Up next for North Texas...South Alabama on Sunday @ 1pm here in Denton.
  6. Awesome crowd. Love the new uniforms too. Team really playing well. I'm off to round up the other SBC scores.
  7. Michelle Young puts NT up 4-1 with 2 minutes left.
  8. NT Goal!! 80th minute goal by the mean green puts NT up 3-1!
  9. Troy pulls one back on a strange goal. Bounced off the crossbar, up into the air, then spun in. 2-1 NT with 11 minutes left.
  10. 22nd Minute - NT Goal!! Kelsey Perlman puts it in at the end of a beautifully executed counter attack. 2-0 NT.
  11. 2nd Minute: NT Goal!! Michelle Young puts it in the bottom left corner of the net with her left foot to put NT up 1-0.
  12. That's correct. And I truly feel that way. North Texas' success on the football field is infinitely more important to me than the Rangers. I clearly said that I was probably in the minority, and do not expect other people to feel the same way. In fact, I'm certain that many people feel differently. I think I must have misinterpreted what I supposedly said, thinking you were saying I had said, with regards to society, that the NT game was more important.
  13. I don't think I did. In fact, I said that if someone had tickets, I would not blame them for going at all. EDIT: I did make a couple statements about relative importance, but that is my personal scale, and I don't expect it to be shared by everyone. I persoanlly would rather NT win than the Rangers. If both win, that's great.
  14. Athletics does not have to brand itself the same way as the university. ULL is a good example of this, although they decided to go with a mythical name for their athletic branding . Regardless, this has nothing to do with athletic branding. I have always preferred North Texas to UNT, and like the "NT" abbreviation better as well. The academic portion of the university possesses a level of stubborness that is hard to wrap ones head around though, and they don't like North Texas, so I guess this will get interesting. Football Tomorrow!!!
  15. It depends on whether this is a performance problem or an umbrella culture problem. It is probably a combination of the two.
  16. Wow. I guess I'm delusional, foolish, and part of a 5% minority. Go Mean Green!!
  17. That is a valid point. My connection with pro teams is different than my connection with NT though. I really am a fan of both teams, but if it comes down to NT and anything else other than deaths in the family or natural disasters (babies will be planned around football season) NT wins every time. I may be in the minority here, but I would rather the Rangers get swept by the Tigers than lose to FAU tomorrow.
  18. Seriously? If you have tickets to the game I can't blame you though. My beef is with people watching it on TV over NT in person.
  19. That's not what I said....at all.
  20. I'm going to speak of out frustration here, but I don't really care. If you are going to the Rangers game, that's awesome, I can't really blame you. However, if you are going to watch on TV, that is ridiculous. A professional baseball game on freaking TV should IN NO WAY take priority over watching your college team play in person. I would be embarrassed if I sat here in Denton watching the Rangers Saturday night instead of going to the NT game, and then called myself a fan the next day. There should be no comparison. I would trade the Rangers Franchise for a bowl appearance this year by NT. If we want to be big time, we better start acting like it. The chicken and the egg debate about attendance and wins/better conference can go on forever, but butts in the seats should be there whether we are winning or not, and whether the Rangers are playing in the ALCS or not. That is what we can control. I hope to see you Saturday.
  21. Unless you are actually going to the Rangers game (which I personally would not over a NT game), who cares? Just DVR it and support your team. NT really should take priority.
