  1. Thanks for jumping on that! I posted the links just on a whim after seeing TM's post on Twitter. Looking forward to seeing the feature in the Sept. issue!
  2. Fun fact: the Twitter link to this thread just got re-tweeted by Texas Monthly's 24,000 followers...
  3. I read a quote today attributed to Warren Buffett, though I've been unable to verify if he actually said it. Regardless, it's pretty much greatness: THAT is the change we need in Washington, first and foremost. Vote all of them out. All of them. Of course, that won't happen...we'll all go to the polls and vote for our favorites like we vote for the MLB All-Star Team: popularity over talent.
  4. Earlier today, the folks at Texas Monthly tweeted the following: I replied to them with a request to not forget North Texas in the sea of UT and A&M bandwagon fans. The responded to me with the link below that lists an email address with more information (I won't post the email address for obvious reasons). Let's get some Mean Green fans in Texas Monthly, dammit! If you're on Twitter, you can @ reply to them (@texasmonthly) or you can click on the link for more information: http://txmnth.ly/p01vV3
  5. JohnDenver is good people...and reasonable. A fine description of the situation.
  6. As we all know, large corporations are infinitely more trustworthy when it comes to doing what is right and keeping us safe.
  7. OK, I'll give you that one...but, isn't that the Almighty State Government, not the Evil Federal Government?
  8. Actually, I do. I've been to four different post offices in the last few months around the DFW area and the staff at each one was helpful and friendly...moreso than my local FedEx Office location, for sure. The only people who complain about post offices are the people who can't seem to grasp that they aren't the most important person on the planet and that waiting five minutes for assistance is comparable to the end of the world.
  9. I think the argument here is not about whether or not he should be punished (he should be), but the fact that our legal system seems to be more than willing to hand out life-ruining, maximum-security prison punishments for first-time offenders of non-violent crimes...as long as the victim in question is a corporation.
  10. I wonder how much money was spent tracking this guy down. I guess that's OK, though...wasting taxpayer money is OK when it is in the name of protecting corporate profits. The Home of the Free*, indeed. * - Freedom not guaranteed if it infringes on the will of mega-corporations...who have infinitely more rights than the individual.
  11. How about the "as historically accurate as possible" viewpoint, instead of having to put an ideological spin on EVERYTHING? Is that so damned hard?
  12. Ahem... When you attempt to delete portions of history because they don't line up with your ideological agenda, that equates to "making it up as you go" in my opinion.
  13. You wish. Trade Socially Conservative Evangelical Christian Crazies for Socially Conservative Mormon Crazies? Really, there's not much difference. Both insist on less government, unless it helps push the moral agenda of their particular invisible sky wizard. And, ya know, making sh*t up as they go when it comes to history and science...
  14. Call me cynical, but I just don't trust an organization that believes that any religion has a political role in society. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with the asshats that make up the Texas Legislature and the Texas State Board of Education.
  15. I really need unlimited downvotes. Please?

  16. I don't disagree with your point at all. I'm just generally annoyed by people who insist on living in this dreamland where NT Football is, at this moment, on par with the TCU's and Boise State's of the world.
  17. Wow...really? You realized this is EXACTLY what members of other conferences say about North Texas, right? The Sun Belt has been a glorified I-AA conference for years as it is...
  18. Just got to talking to one of my new coworkers about the upcoming season. It seems that lots of folks around here are excited about this upcoming season...McCarney and the new stadium have a lot to do with that. Maybe things are finally coming around the way they should for ol' NT.
