  1. Maybe I just view the portal different from most. It seems many view the portal as a place to go find replacement players when you lose some to graduation or transfer. I just don't see it that way. If there is a guy in the portal that is an upgrade over what we currently have, then go get him. We have more to offer than Texas State.

As for our defensive struggles... our defense wasn't that great under Littrell either. It just wasn't historically bad, like Caponi's defense. Littrell tried to run a 3-3-5, but trashed it because he couldn't get enough line talent. There was no portal back then for Littrell to poach from. Caponi doesn't have that excuse. He just didn't bring in the players he needed. Nor did Caponi or Morris do their research regarding past attempts at such a defense. That's on our coaches.

I don't know if Caponi can install a 4-man front defense in a week, but even if it sputters, it would be better than watching the 3-3-5 kill any chance of a win in Ruston.

I think there are some difficult questions to be asked.  Since there are no questions from the audience and the softball nature of the moderators (do you write in cursive or block ?) questions I don’t know if we learn anything but it’s our only opportunity.

By the way, I watched on TV, and I think I watched every play.  I don’t recall seeing Eric Morris once on the sideline.  I saw the FIU coach over and over.  Is this a style thing with the TV guys or was he really not on the sideline ?

Im really disappointed in my team.

I noticed the same thing. I just thought that maybe (like many of us on this board) ESPN thought nobody was in charge on our sideline.

Sorry, it is a turnaround.  We had no 69' Camaro with Seth, we had a base Buick with NO frills.

The program was stagnant under Seth, everyone could see it.  We were losing our best players to the portal and needed to rebuild regardless of any coach this season.

Morris may not be the answer, but the Program was in worse shape than anyone with NT officially would admit....as we have seen!!

Sure we have a '69 Camaro. It's not a solid matching numbers museum quality Camaro, but even with all the Bondo, no AC, & blown head gaskets, it still has value & potential. Being a university of 45K+ in DFW is an advantage most others just can't replicate. We just don't take advantage of it. For comparison, LA Tech is a '73 Pinto with a nice paint job, that actually runs well. But even so, Ruston is never going to have the resell value we have.

Now I do agree... Seth had to go. And in my opinion, UNT held on to him for too long.

    Everything old is new again...

It doesn't have to be. Mendoza kept his job long after most realized he couldn't get it done. Our leadership doesn't have to continue to tolerate failure. While Morris is too expensive to drop kick after only two games, Caponi is very expendable.

It was, but Morris wasn't here at the time most of the portal recruiting actually happened.   If you wanted us to make an impact this year, then SL should have been let go earlier so the new coach could 1) defend our guys from getting recruited, and 2) recruited other players actually in the portal.

Now that is about the only slack I am willing to cut EM.  The rest of the complaints, such as staff make up, scheme selection, game planning, in game adjustment, etc?  Those all have some (to a lot of) validity.

And many of us on this board wanted Littrell gone long before the end of last season. The timing of Littrell's firing is on Wren and Smatresk.

How is everyone on this board going to react when ACU beats us?  Let’s see we would be 0-4, wait until the end of a 0-12 season to fire EM.  Because if we don’t beat ACU we will be 0-12.  How does this SH*T happen, we go from bad to worse, can’t even just stay bad. Bad hire, admit it and go forward, cut our loses literally and financially.

If nothing is done to correct our issues and we lose to LT and ACU, then we will almost certainly go 0-12. If that is the situation, then Morris won't be the only firing that needs to occur. I just can't see it coming to that.

A lot of lead changes and man did Rogers look great. Am I the only one who enjoyed the football game outside of the result? La Tech game should be similarly competitive. I’m thinking we rattle off the next 4.

I see nothing positive about losing a shootout against a team that we should have been able to run up the score on. If we play like this against LA Tech, we will get run out of Ruston, and ACU might just beat us too. If things aren't addressed quickly, we are starring down the real possibility of a 1 or 2 win season.

Yeah, in the North East.  I am sure Drexel is a big story in Philly.

We already tried this, under Chancellor Hurley.  All the "culture" problems we have with Denton, HS coaches, alumni giving, local media, etc come directly from that.  Once we didn't take footballs seriously everyone looked down on us.

This is very true. But in my opinion, continuing to prop up our current failures, will only further cement that narrative.
