I wasn't one of them but I can tell you, an eyeroll is not necessarily a disagreement/counter position.
Thanks. Yeah, I can handle views other than my own. If anyone has a different take, I'm open to considering their perspective. Who knows, they may even change my mind, or at the very least give me a reason to value and defend their opinion, even if I disagree with it. And, I didn't eyeroll you either. But, I did give you a +1 to try and negate it.

If Morris wants to interject the 3-3-5 in situations, that's one thing, but to keep it as the featured defense when it is an obvious failure is just being stubborn. That 3-3-5 placed UNT dead last defensively among all of the FBS. Using a 4-man front in just one game has moved UNT within 5 yards of not being dead last.
The 3-3-5 may look great this week against ACU, but don't be fooled. Success against an FCS team isn't the same as what UNT will face when they travel to Navy on Oct 7th. We will need a 4-man front to have any chance against Navy's run heavy offense.
I don't care if my comments are down voted or if you choose to give me an eyeroll. To each their own... But, if you are one of the posters that gave those responses, I'd honestly like to know your counter position to my argument. If there is a flaw in my logic, I'd appreciate it if you would point it out to me.

I see both of y'alls points. On one hand, there's always hidden gems to be found. On the other hand, we're told on this board that Morris has put together a staff that will elevate recruiting at North Texas yet we're still going after hidden gems... a hidden gem here and there is fine. Many programs have an under recruited guy or two starting, however, it seems we're already resetting expectations on multiple fronts with this new staff. Recruiting is the one area we've been told this staff will thrive in and now we're being told hidden gems will be necessary until we have a run of success. What's changed?
Bump.

I admit, I was discouraged after losing to Cal the way we did. And, I was furious after losing to FIU. That loss is still inexcusable. But, I will give Morris credit for fixing our offense. The problem is that Morris is the head coach, so the defensive failures fall at his feet too. Until the defense is adequately addressed, he will continue to feel the heat.
Personally, I'm a big believer in free speech, and have issues with topics and/or posts being deleted just because they may be opposed to those of the mods. We are all Mean Green fans. There has to be enough room for all of our logical concerns and opinions. I don't know why threads have been deleted, but I'd love to read a statement explaining the reasoning.

Super cool of Eric to call in. We’ve still got a ways to go but he is family and he’s doing the right things. I love that guy!
I agree. And, I hope Morris continues to join jayD on these shows.

Morris deserves a lot of credit for making the moves to get our offense on track. I'm still confused as to how he could lead us into the season without knowing who are QB1 should be, but at least he's fixed it. I actually think his offense is more potent than Littrell's version.
But, my game ball goes to Rogers. While Morris called a good game, Rogers did a masterful job of audibling into the right plays. With Rogers running the show, I think we can put up points against any team in the AAC. Unfortunately, Caponi's defense will continue to hold back our team as long as he insists on leaning on the 3-3-5.

Did my comment about Caponi still needing to be let go violate some rule of the board?

Story of the game was Rogers extending drives and getting the running game back on track. Hope Blair isn’t seriously hurt.
The 4-man front resulted in back-to-back 3 and outs and about 4 yards of LT offense in the 1st quarter, but Caponi thought it would be smart not only to move back to the 3-man front, but basically stick with it for most of the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th quarters. That dude is too stupid to remain as our DC.

This game should not have been close. We had this game under control. Giving up 22 points in the 4th is ridiculous.

North Texas should not be this bad.

Can we fire Caponi now?

That stinking 3-3-5 defense is letting LT back into this game. Someone please step in and stop Caponi from running it for the rest of the game!

While our 4-man front isn't perfect, it is better than our 3-man front. Both LA Tech TD's came against Caponi's 3-man front. That's not a coincidence.

TD! Glad Morris has figured out our offense. We just need to replace Caponi.

Caponi's 3-3-5 strikes again. We have to fire that dude. I'm done with him.

That's a punt. Where has this guy been?

Why did Caponi go back to a 3-man defensive front? I have no idea what this joker is thinking.

I don’t disagree, but I’ll play devils advocate. What would be our reaction if Morris was a Flexbone guru, but it was failing miserably with Littrell’s Air Raid roster? Would we expect Morris to run a version of the Air Raid since that’s what he has the personal for?
Honestly, and I really don’t mean this as a knock on Caponi, but he may not even know how to teach another defense. Kind of the same as it’s unlikely Morris could teach another offense. A lot of these guys are married to the system they know and trust.
Yeah, Caponi might not be able to coach a 4-6 or another type of defense. But, it seems he can't coach a 3-3-5 either. At this point, what the harm in trying something we might be better suited to run. I don't think it can get worse than giving up 46 to FIU.

Thanks. Like I said, I just want to gain a better understanding of the different opinions around here. I know I'm not perfect and if I'm off, I want to be corrected. I have no desire to spew ignorance.
