Fans show up for App State because they win, not because Boone lacks other things to do.

Since they joined the FBS in 2014 they've had no losing seasons and have been to seven bowl games, winning six of them.

Before that in the FCS from 1982 to 2013, they had only four losing seasons and won three FCS championships.

All the student ticket allotments are “sold out” at many schools.  That being said with 47k students an allotment of a modest 8k should be sold out for almost any FBS opponent if we are playing well.  Don’t forget I believe students can purchase guest tickets for their section for like $25.   That 8k should have the student side of the stadium +80%  full.  Our stadium rarely looks like that.  I think that is what @Big Z really meant.

Would the eye roller on my previous comment like to identify themselves?  I guess your free time isn’t valuable?  Are you retired or wealth and don’t have to work.  Paying money for tickets and transportation costs going to watch the team that represents your alma mater stink up the joint a ton of fun to you and no sacrifice?  Just wondering.

Wasn’t me. I have always said it’s not the priority of students to fill that stadium. They are after all going to class and trying to graduate and probably working at the same time. Furthermore if and when North Texas does sell out the student ticket allotment will be the first to get downsized in order to give to the alumni. Alumni are the ones that have the money and or time to make it to all these games. Where North Texas has failed is turning students into fans because the product on the field has more often than not been not worth the students time.

Army and Navy are so boring to watch. Handoff....run, handoff other side...run, option...run. BORING.

Yes, but the alumni base is huge for both academies so that it really doesn’t matter. It’s literally the only game alumni from both academies watch or care about.

Kinda handcuffed on sh*t talking service academies without coming off as unpatriotic, though. What am I supposed to do? Thank them for their service when they turn the ball over?

They’re just people. You might be surprised how many people actually talk crap about the service academies that are in the military. It’s easy to separate the football team from the actual branch itself.

I mean does Denton?  I feel like the city didn't even support the high school teams like they should have when I was a kid.  Granted, it's been eons since I regularly attended HS sports in Denton given I don't live there any more, but I doubt it's changed that much.

    Way out of touch.

I have to disagree. I work closely with young people that are headed to college. The vast majority of those students are selecting UNT because they feel the university fits their academic goals, and they believe is trending up compared to other universities. Last year I spoke with multiple students that selected UNT over Texas Tech, OU, & Oklahoma State. And these are students that graduated in the Top 10 of their graduating class.

Athletics just needs to build a football program that will help promote the narrative these students are buying into. There is a reason UNT now has over 45,000 students, and it isn't because these kids can't get into UT, A&M, or Tech.

    Well said.
