Army's AD has stated that the rule change is part of the reason they looked to join a conference.   They know the rule change will make their option offense less viable.   They hope joining a conference makes them more competitive in the the new NIL/transfer portal world.

All the West Point alums are saying they’re running a new offense? I have no clue since I don’t watch Army football like that. The new offense is a reason why they’re not doing so well?

I like this idea, but they would definitely need a travel partner, and with Colorado moving back to the Big12, I wonder if COSt would like to come this way as well?

Merging more teams with the MWC is the move I hope. There are very few teams out east that would be attractive to join the AAC.

They have less than half our enrollment and are in a much smaller market. Relative to their enrollment/alumni base, they probably get more support than we do. If it weren't for being in DFW, we'd also still be in CUSA. Don't get high and mighty over our  "promotion."

Didn’t they go to the CUSA Championship a couple years ago and no one showed up?

I don’t know…seems like they found a gimmick and they got 10 maybe 15 min of online engagement? Good on them but in the grand scheme of things there is only one marketing strategy that will work and that’s winning, you can’t gimmick your way to more fans without it.

    A few quick thoughts:

    • Competition: Playing Army provides a challenge and an opportunity to test our skills. It also helps us to improve our game, as we learn from our mistakes and from the strategies of our opponents.
    • Fun: Playing against another Army adds to the fun and excitement, as we all work together to achieve a common goal.
    • Community: These games can bring people together from all walks of life. Playing against Army can foster a sense of community and rivalry, which can be a positive force in people's lives.
    • Tradition: Playing against Army is a way to carry on this tradition and to share our love of the game with others.

  5. If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a million times. No stadium in any conference is sold out based on the attendance of the student population, it’s filled by the alumni and casual fans.

also, don’t cite that North Texas has a student population of 43K+ the school needs to build more dorms to increase the on campus student population.
