Incredible crowd. There was a certain buzz and excitement in the Pit even before the game started. We give the administration grief (rightfully so, at times) but they deserve so much praise for the work that went into making last night a success. Great job all around.

1. Keeping cool as a team when bad calls happen. (Maybe he could set an NBA player straight just south of us)
This was incredibly impressive by our guys. They could have easily let the refs get into their heads and let the game get away but they didn’t. Kept on fighting and didn’t deter their aggressiveness on defense one bit. Very proud of them for that. That’s a quality of a championship team.

Everyone, please go to church and get right with the big man upstairs.
Game on the TV, church stream on the laptop. Just like the good lord would want.

Buggs passion for the game is intoxicating. The kind of player that can change the course of a game with a single made shot.

I wish the gameday ops people understood that and stopped trying to push it on us (often at weird times in the game).

exactly. he averaged 15-10-3blocks with good coaching...13-8.5-2.7 with awful coaching. as a freshman and sophomore.
everyone set the expectation that he'd give 25-15 a night and that every shot from the paint would end up three rows deep...so now because TM didn't live up to their unrealistic expectations they've allowed their memory of him to be a disappointment. it's really sad. dude was a treat. Our only drafted player in the last 40 years btw. Dude was so incredible and naturally gifted.

I got to experience it vs Texas Tech and it was a blast. No idea if it made any basketball sense in terms of who was the better team but none of us cared. Beating a team that thinks we’re beneath them is always fun.

Court storming is for winning games against teams you’re not typically on par with. This does not apply here.
BUT
if the kids wanna do it, let em. I’m not going to gatekeep what will bring them joy. I want them back for more games.

I see the game is on at 7 on ESPN2. Assuming that's eastern time?
Yes, 6pm CT

I'm still not holding my breath on over 5K (actual butts). The students hopefully show with it being a weeknight but a 6pm start will hurt the alumni turnout I fear.
Unless season ticket holder attendance is abysmal, 5k should be an easy hit from what I’ve been told.

GJ, maybe next time don’t blindside your proven starter that your fan base loves by bringing in a guy with, ahem, a questionable history.

Looks like Texas State went from 2 quality starters to none rather quickly. Absolute nightmare scenario for the Comal Bobcats

Yeah, don’t expect to show up 15 minutes prior to tip and slide right in as usual.

Sounds like we will have between 7-8 thousand at the game. A lot of the total will depend on how many students actually show up. Should be a great environment. GMG
Gonna be a hefty crowd. I’d encourage everyone to get there early, grab a beer, and get rowdy.

I’ve always loved seeing student athletes supporting other student athletes. Oscar was at a lot of sporting events and I wish more would join in on the fun.

We couldn’t score 103 points if we wanted to….
While I agree we probably don’t have the offense to ever score 100, I think we have the players to get out and run on defensive stops. No reason a lineup of Edwards, CJ, Dello, Scott, Allen shouldn’t be pushing more for easy buckets in transition. That’s the biggest rub for us on offense. Everything is a GRIND and sometimes it’s just not necessary.

It’s more complicated than that imo. Roster continuity matters too. Of course you’ll have outliers that outplay their current competition level and may leave, but a large percentage of your class will be around for 3 years or so. Then supplement positions of need in the portal.

Preaching to the choir. I’m at every game unless I’m out of town traveling for work. I just understand the reality of North Texas athletics in general. We can not like it (I don’t) but it doesn’t change the fact that our bandwagonners are fickle.
Fair enough.. I respect the stance.

Just hate that we can’t handle prosperity. Truly the North Texas way. Spit the bit right before a huge showdown with SMU at home.
This notion that the team needs to win every game to earn support has to die. Nothing today should deter people from packing the pit on Thursday. Your team is still 4-1 while missing 2 starters.

If we can always chuckle when an opponents message board can’t understand how they only scored 52 points against us, it’s definitely fair play to tip the cap to the defensive effort played against us.
but this offense helped their defense bunches
They had stretches of good defense but didn’t do so much to cause us to shoot 1-17 from 3. That’s all us.

This is bad basketball. If buggs/Rubin don't make it back soon and steer this ship we will be middle of the pack in this leauge. Again, clt is not very good. We are just worse.
Are you talking about just today? Because Charlotte is 4-1 with a win over FAU.

Playing 4-on-5 on the offensive end with Stone out there isn’t ideal. He doesn’t look to do anything other than pass.

Should we storm the court if we defeat SMUt tonight?

As heard from a student on the way out “we didn’t storm the court, we were politely let on” lol
