He definitely looked much improved from high school in his JUCO tape. A big thing he needed to improve on was his accuracy. His junior year he started a few games while then Senior qb Miles Onyegbule (UT receiver) was injured.
Greer completed just 45% of his passes in limited action as a junior. His senior year as a full time starter he had 24 tds but also had 11 picks and only completed 54.5 percent of his passes. Big kid, good arm, good program, but less than stellar completion percentage. Stats are from his rivals page.

Some game-by-game stats from his senior year for those interested.

In his year of JUCO ball for Navarro he had a very impressive year and showed some improvement, at least statistically, accuracy wise completing 63.5% of his passes. Also cut down on the ints with just 1 all year for a 8:1 td to int ratio. Here's a link to those stats.

If he can continue to improve at the rate that he has then he could definitely be a good one for us.

Avery Fortenberry is grayshirting as well so he counts.Based on the comments in Vito's blog, we are no longer after OL's. Looks like Miles is our one and only this year.

I also wouldn't rule out a tight end moving to d-line, like Chris Loving
-
9' 2". But that's according to the roster, so you never know how tall he actually is.How tall is he?
-
Based on our recruits' offer lists and ratings, absolutely.I don't follow recruiting as well as some people here, but this seems to be one of our better classes in past few years, no?
-
Pretty sure he has a girlfriend and likes it here and what not. Don't know if that means he is for sure staying, but things like that factor in.Hope Brock is not leaving, but it would not be a total surprise. I hope whoever is able to come out on top is legit. While DT was frustrating at times, he will not be easy to replace.
If you tell me that our QB play will be better next year, then we have a heck of a season to look forward to.
But I agree with everything you said. It's just interesting that we'd have 5 qbs and I'm pretty sure Mac has said he only wants 4 qbs on scholarship at a time. Not to mention none of the 5 would be seniors. In the words of Arte Johnson, veeeery interesting

Are you suggesting Benford commit harakiri?Uh, they do in Japan? Typically muttering something about disgracing their family and dishonoring their ancestors. Both things Benford is doing
-
No, he has 3 years to play 3. He is class of 2012. Will come in as a redshirt sophomore. He can play 2 football seasons in 3 years
-
Congrats Josh! Come along way since playing against him on JV.
Yeah, agree with Plumm. Makes you wonder if all 3 of our returning qbs will be back for spring ball. I don't know, not going to speculate. We'll see in spring ball, where josh will have a chance to compete.

So, this was a thing at one point. First game for Benford was a matchup of #1 mid major (Creighton) against #2 mid major (us).
-
Seriously, don't worry about this.Do we lose players or other recruits in the process?
-
If the situation of one of them leaving doesn't happen then I bet they'd all have a chance to compete in the spring. Then the odd man/men out would be presented with the idea of a position change.A Greer commitment would probably mean someone is leaving or changing positions, wouldn't you think ?

You could be realistic about our coach. We both know that neither will happen
I think I have been pretty realistic. If he ends to take a sit or be removed so be it but imam not going to go ringing the bells and singing praises because a man loses his job.
The man's buyout will hardly prevent him from being able to put food on his family's plate.

Also, take into account that both an offensive and defensive player can wear the same number.
-
Great write up Zen, great analysis Ben. We have a lot of winnable games next year both on the road and at home. Home games against SMU, Nicholls, USM, UAB, La Tech, and an east division team should set us up nicely to just need to snag a few road wins and have another good record.
Also guys, don't forget about Jalen Adams, the receiver from Oklahoma coming in. He turned down some decent offers like Tulsa and Indiana to come to North Texas. 4 guys coming in at receiver and you hope they all pan out, but we've got some options.
-
Fonzale Davis has said on twitter that he wants to be the successor to Brelan Chancellor and wear #3. Not sure about Goree. What's the rule on jersey #'s? Who gets to wear #5 next year?
David Busby
Andrew McNulty
Fonzale Davis
Tee Goree
I know both Busby and McNulty return next year but don't you have to earn the number? Just an idle thought.

Signed an extension with Bama. Said he never considered Texas. Basically the rumor gave him leverage, which everyone saw comingIs Saban really out of play?

I don't blame Georgia fans. They're the number 1 school in one of the top 5 high school football states in the country.Georgia fans have been trying to run Mark Richt for years.
Every top school from the top 7 high school football states have won a national championship and made an appearance in at least two since the BCS era has begun except Georgia, which has had 0 appearances. Texas (UT), California (USC), Florida (Miami, Florida, and Florida State), Georgia (UGA), Louisiana (LSU), Ohio (Ohio State), and Alabama (Alabama and Auburn).
With those resources and that recruiting base you can't blame the fans for feeling like they have underachieved. Kind of the same deal with Texas. With those resources, that money, and that recruiting base they should be competing for a national championship and they haven't been close in 4 years.

Yeah, but they also got some bad breaks. Offense also shut down once they got up 35-20. They stopped the Allen offense then they got a bad break on Allen's punt.Didn't have that championship defense when it mattered the most. Great effort by both teams. Good luck to Allen with their repeat next week.
Hate to say they blew it, but they did as a team. Just like they won 14 games as a team.
Can't see Allen losing to Pearland, but I couldn't see Trinity losing to Pearland 3 years ago, after they knocked us out of the playoffs my senior year and were 15-0, so you never know.

But you could get a tweet mentioning you out of itCareful. Recruits read these boards and expressing opinions is apparently a deal breaker.

Sorry guys, phone died. But Allen won in an amazing comeback 42-35. Allen went to punt and the ball hit a DeSoto player and Allen recovered. Allen also had a touchdown where their receiver fumbled and their own player picked it up and scored. Tough loss for DeSoto against a darn good team.
-
Wow. Allen ties it up 35-35. Apparently Allen fans were leaving the game. That's what happens.
-
35-20 DeSoto. Desmon White is taking over. I think he has accounted for all 5 tds.
-
Kilgore beat Stephenville 44-6. Very impressive. Seems like the two best teams will meet in he state championship game, as it should be.

TJ Taylor's scoring ability might save our, and Benford's, tail once more.
