  1. Surprising that no one has posted any opinions about this. She resigned on a Friday evening. Will Rush be on the air Monday or Tuesday? Maybe then we will hear all the answers about this. It probably is Obama's fault. I hope she wins the 2012 nomination but quitting when the going gets tough isn't a conservative value. First she quit as chairlady of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and now she walks out of the Governor's office.
  2. It is the McCain campaign staff that is slinging the mud all over Palin and her family, not the liberals. Palin is the liberals' favorite GOP candidate.
  3. Today's DRC reported that Calvin met NCAA qualifying standards, but did not meet Cal academic standards. The DRC also reports that after being denied entrance to Cal she visited MTSU and was offered by Long Beach St, but signed with NT. Today's DRC listed ten new players for next season. Five are from high school, three are JUCO's and two are D-1 transfers that sat out this year. By my count we have seven returning players: next year's sophs are Mansa El, Jeanee Thompson and Tamara Torru, and next year's seniors are Ninye El, Mimi Goodman, Brittney James and Torrian Timms. Ninye El is a walk-on so that leaves 16 scholarship players-one over the NCAA women's limit.
  4. BLOOD & THUNDER PROPHET: ...And the bezan shall be huge and black, and the eyes thereof red with the blood of living creatures, and the whore of Babylon shall ride forth on a three-headed serpent, and throughout the lands, there'll be a great rubbing of parts. Yeeah... FALSE PROPHET: ...For the demon shall bear a nine-bladed sword. Nine-bladed! Not two or five or seven, but nine, which he will wield on all wretched sinners, sinners just like you, sir, there, and the horns shall be on the head, with which he will... BORING PROPHET: ...Obadiah, his servants. There shall, in that time, be rumours of things going astray, erm, and there shall be a great confusion as to where things really are, and nobody will really know where lieth those little things wi-- with the sort of raffia work base that has an attachment. At this time, a friend shall lose his friend's hammer and the young shall not know where lieth the things possessed by their fathers that their fathers put there only just the night before, about eight o'clock. Yea, it is written in the book of Cyril that, in that time, shall the third one...
  5. I would love to have Willis, but Rivals reported Willis has committed to Texas Tech over Marquette, Arizona State, South Florida and many others. He has not signed an LOI yet because he is waiting for his latest SAT score.
  6. There is a place called Bagheri's Hookah Lounge across the street from the bowling alley on East University.
  7. My vote goes to the Albanians at Luigi's. I haven't tried it yet, but I have heard that Tina's Italian Ristrorante on East University accross from the bowling alley is very good and reasonably priced.
  8. Sarah Palin September 11, 2008: abcnews.go.com/Politics/Vote2008/Story?id=5778018&page=1
  9. George Bush, February 7, 2007, on climate change: georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/news/releases/2007/02/20070207-5.html
  10. The Herald Sun is a newspaper in Melbourne, Australia, that is published by The Herald and Weekly Times Ltd, a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation.
  11. Coach Jones' first two teams beat them in 2001 and again in 2002.
  12. Also interesting is Article 1, section 23: SEC. 23. Every citizen shall have the right to keep and bear arms in the lawful defense of himself or the State; but the Legislature shall have power by law to regulate the wearing of arms with a view to prevent crime. It looks like our founding fathers weren't NRA members.
  13. This might be the authorization for secession. It is in Article 1, Section 2 of the Texas Constitution. If Obama declares himself Lord Protector or dissolves the legislature then it looks like Texas would have the right to secede.
  14. In a bid to become Vice President, Good Hair made the mistake of supporting Rudy Giuliani, a moderate (by GOP definition anyway), for president. Now he is laying the ground work to attack challenger Kay Bailey Hutchison from the extreme right. Adios Mofo.
  15. According to Husker Basketball Report (scroll down) and The Lincoln Journal Star, Harris has decided to play pro ball in Europe.
  16. Thanks. What is The Washington Examiner? IMO, under Obama, Americorp will be better than ever. At least we are proof that two people who are often on opposite sides of issues can remain friends.
  17. My daughter made her parents very proud when she voluntarily joined Americorps Vista immediately after graduating from college. She was paid $500 a month, and at the end of one year's service she was given $5,500 that had to be used for paying educational expenses or student loans. She worked with tribal leaders on the Apsáalooke (Crow) Indian reservation to teach parenting skills and how to recognize red flags for alcohol or drug abuse. She helped low-income teenagers learn safe automobile driving skills. She also worked in a program that helped parents with drug or alcohol problems to either keep or regain custody of their children and sometimes get one last chance to stay out of jail or prison.
  18. According to a Rivals window that has since been deleted, North Texas did contact Dickerson last fall. I don't remember NT ever showing up on his wish list. WKU closed on Dickerson during the November signing period.
  19. That is for sure. The way the announcers talked one would assume OMV had morphed into a prince after three seasons of playing like a frog. He has been high on my hate list for a long time.
  20. Would a stronger non-conference schedule increase NT's chances of procuring an NCAA at-large bid? IMO it would not. Since NT has been a member of the Sun Belt, only one Sun Belt team, South Alabama in 2008, has received an at-large bid. OOC Schedules with conference affiliation: South Alabama 2008...............................................................North Texas 2009 Vanderbilt (SEC )....................................................................Oklahoma State (Big 12) Mississippi State (SEC)............................................................Arkansas (SEC) Mississippi (SEC)....................................................................New Mexico State (WAC) San Diego (WCC)...................................................................Indiana State (MVC) Southern Miss (CUSA).............................................................Houston (CUSA) Chattanooga (Southern)..........................................................Sam Houston (Southland) Miami OH (MAC).....................................................................Sam Houston (Southland) Jacksonville (Atlantic Sun).......................................................UTA (Southland) Grambling (SWAC)..................................................................Jackson State (SWAC) Houston Baptist (D-2 in 2008)...................................................Houston Baptist (Independent in 2009) West Florida (D-2)....................................................................Cameron (D-2) These look like very comparable schedules to me. South Alabama's schedule may be a little stronger, but not by very much. IMO our OOC schedule was good enough. we just need more wins in and out of conference.
  21. The four non-power conference at large teams are: 1. BYU...BYU is not a mid-major. If their athletic department needs more money for anything, all they have to do is ask their donors for money and they shall receive. 2. Xavier and 3. Dayton...These two Atlantic Ten schools don't like to be called mid-Majors and with good reason. Last season A-10 schools had average basketball budgets of $2.8 Million...about three times as much as the average Sun Belt budget. 4. Butler...A true mid-major.
  22. From Roanoke Times: Of the five ACC men's basketball programs that were available for the College Basketball Invitational, only Virginia decided to take a plunge that ultimately could cost the Cavaliers more than $150,000. "We knew that going in," executive associate athletic director Jon Oliver said. "We spent a lot of time talking about that aspect of it, but, at the end of the day, it was not a financial decision. "We wanted our kids to keep playing. That's what it came down to. It's pretty hard to say 'no' to that." Complete story
