Black Uniforms, Coincidence or the Power of GMG
817Fan replied to Cowtown's topic in Mean Green Football
I dig the 3XL helmet. -
Last year I saw the new matte black Southern MS helmet. I thought our green would look good on flat black. Always liked the number on the side too... -was just messing around with the "suck it" Anyhow, funny how it grew legs.

So I finally got to try Tony's balls.

Anybody interested in a tailgate cook-off of sorts? Meatballs, Chili, Sliders, etc. -
I think the offense calls it the V set.
-
Did you know... The Mean Green is 4 & 4 versus Texas Tech? They want NO part of this squad. PLUS Craig James did in fact snub out 5 hookers.

Where'd you play high school football and when?

I'm glad we'll be getting more TV exposure this year. Having said that, can the athletic department PLEASE send our current helmet to all the broadcasting outlets? Nothing looks more bush-league than having a ten year old helmet on the set.

I've got the WORM logo digitized for an embroiderer. I had it put on a golf shirt. I'ts about the size of a half dollar. If anybody wants the digital file, just let me know & I'll e-mail it.

With the log jam at O line, I wonder if Micah Thompson would be higher on the D line depth chart. -He was moved to the O line from his DT position. He's now 6'4" 310 lbs. Just a thought...

Can't coach speed. This kid has some. He's big enough now to play DE or you can let him get bigger / stronger and play inside.

Those Uniforms Posted in the Gallery are Sweet!

The concept is not a total re-branding campaign as well. The SOW is still on the field. North Texas is still embroidered on the front of the jersey. -Not to mention the end zones of our field are black. -so why not incorporate some black in the unis? My .02 cents -

I'm glad these are getting a positive response. The credit however goes to my good friend Jim. -He's not on this board, so I posted them. His idea is simple but sound. New conference, new brand. Personally, I like the use of the inter-locking NT on the helmet. I think we're beyond the point where we have to spell out the name of our school on the helmet. I know he has sent these mock ups to the administration. -Not sure how they went over. Hopefully they'll find some traction, I'm sure the kids would enjoy playing in them. GMG -
See Gallery... recent images.

From the album: stuff
A good friend of mine & fellow NT grad came up with these uniforms. New Conference, New Branding. -
They actually have a living breathing scribe covering every home game for the first time in years.

Random Idea in regards to changing the culture...
817Fan replied to UNTstormchaser's topic in Mean Green Football
I think the pre-game atmosphere would be better if the band was more directly involved. The GB marches through the parking lot 2 hours before kick-off but they don't play anything. Sure the drums are beating, but play something. It would be great if the drum line warmed up in the Victory parking lot as opposed to next to the Super Pit. USC cadence is attended by swarms of people prior to their home games. -This is not a complaint, I just think it would add to a pre-game experience. Finally, if it's not logistically possible for the GB to be a bigger part of the parking lot pre-game, how about another student drum line or band? (steel drums, one of the lab bands, etc.) -
1) DT has to execute better footwork in the pocket. -He's got to step into his throws in order to be accurate. Too many times he throws off his back foot. That elongates his throwing motion & makes him less effective. Causes the "heave". Correcting his footwork would make him 10 -15% more efficient & probably put him within the top 5 SB QBs. -Plenty good to win with. 2) Blitz all the damn time & from every angle you can. This years secondary is much faster than last. They'll be able to deal with it. 3) Hold the line with your special teams. Good place kicker, Good return game, Great punter. Just don't get worse on special teams.
