I think if this would have been from a Louisiana Tech blogger a Marshall blogger Southern Miss blogger it would be completely different. He could have just as easily put lil Frank Wilson down just as easy as he put down Seth Littrell.. and he would have been speaking on something he actually covered and knew about. But the fact is its from this dbag who takes a shot at North Texas any chance he gets that's the real problem here and that's why people are upset.

What if one of the UNT Daily guys who writes for SB Nation put UTSA instead of UNT?

Moreso I would like to add that after having reviewed the coaching hires at UTSA that I much prefer our own situation.  Their OC really looks like Cosh on his resume and the DC was a safeties coach at USM (looking for a new job I'm sure).   Both of them are from the Delta and have zero exp with San Antonio or that area of Texas.  Recruiting a bunch of New Orleans guys to come play at Tulane or LSU is not a hard task.  Telling them that they should go to the tourist trap known as San Antonio and to a university that has no pulse (I've been there just 2 months ago) will take a bit of a miracle.  The campus hangout is a Chuys or <insert chain restaurant name here>  I have literally seen articles from SB Nation about how Louisiana and TacoTown are on par in regards to recruiting and I almost puked.  Nobody is believing that nonsense and I look forward to the day our little dick friends in San Antonio realize what is in store for them

Dont hate on Frank Wilson, he'll be able to bring in some players.

In business you would never invest $8 million in bricks and sticks for an enterprise that is guaranteed to lose money. TCU and DBU probably make a little money. LSU and Texas probably make a lot. I would love to have a women's softball and men's baseball program as good as ULL. In addition, smart side or dark side,UNT the side I am on.

You can't bring up business, it's all about rainbows and butterflies

  4. I agree, we will talk about it a lot more.  I still dont know how UNT fans can generalize every previous UNT hire and say we cant do that in the future.  I understand that you dont want to make the same mistake twice but most of the readers dont understand @BillySee58 points.  Then they compare the two..  So would you not hire a HC with previous experience because Mac failed?  That's the same reasoning why people wont want to hire an assistant for the basketball team?  Or am I just reading everything incorrectly?

Did you see the bowl game selection show? They skipped over us and didn't talk about HOD bowl. We deserved a better opponent for that bowl game and everyone knows it.

    UNLV was a joke

UNT was just as much as a joke as UNLV

Trashing our greatest athletes who are in the HOF.   Another reason why other fan bases must laugh at us because our own alumns are so college athletic ignorant.

We dont have enough good players for a HOF

I think the only way to cool down the dumpster fire that is our Men's Basketball program, we müst hire a head coach that has been a head coach.  Before anyone brings it up, I know MaC was a HC and that didn't work out.  But I'm thinking a HC that might  have been a HC in the last 2or 3 years.  No more "up and coming" assistants please.

Everybody seems to bring in a eastern European player now days.  How about a eastern European coach ?  How did Russia State do this season ?

    GO MEAN GREEN

Are you serious about international players?  Why would you spend more money and resources scouting international players when you have better talent in the US?

I dont think there is a reason not to give Lutz an interview @TheTastyGreek

  7. Beard also had Chris Jones at Angelo State

I agree that basketball is a lot different than football in that regard. At the same time, if the coach is a smart, good coach, is a genuinely good recruiter, and is a good fit here why should we exclude a guy like that just because he was an assistant? Benford hasn't worked for multiple reasons. The fact that his last job was an assistant role is a very minimal factor at best.

CBL made a very good analogy to the Texas Rangers. When they signed Chan Ho Park back in 2002 and he didn't work out, John Hart vowed to never spend big money on a free agent pitcher. Spending big money on a free agent pitcher was not the problem. Spending money on Chan Ho Park was the problem.

That being said, the two guys I want most are D1 head coaches in Scott Cross and Chris Beard. However, Chris Beard was a D2 head coach last year and I would've been just as thrilled had we brought him in after last year before he had D1 HC experience.

    I agree with this 100%.

Fran & Cross aren't coming. They both know about the leadership issue. Especially Fran.

Yeah, I dont think either of the 3 would come.  Those are just the names that I see everyone else brings up.

Chris Beard would be a good pick up, IMO

He makes 230k at UALR, Benford makes 350k.  That could happen.

It'll be interesting to see what happens for sure.  I saw Kyler Murray play a couple games for the Ags last year, and I was worried he was going to be broken in half (and he is bigger than Fine!).  You just never know though, he has great numbers, but it is a large step up.   I'm reminded that Tyler Ethridge couldn't even cut it at Angelo State and he was supposedly the greatest 6-man player to ever play the game.

I forgot about Kyler Murray isnt he under 6' and less than 200 lbs?

Not sure I follow unless you are talking about a good strength program to put on lean weight, because I've seen big boys from small schools.

Exactly.  I'm not saying that everyone from a small school is small.  They simply don't have the capital to build a strength program like the ones in college, same goes with college players going to the NFL.

Riley also played big school Texas football (equivalent to 5A today). Fine didn't face near as many large, fast guys in HS as Riley. That could partially account for different injury histories.

I would agree.  He'll come in injury free(that I know of), red shirt and hopefully get to 190.  Completely different start than Riley

Nope, he is just reminding people that I was right when I said in early 2014 that you mofos would miss DT in the 2014 season.

You mofos did miss DT, even if you were to prideful to admit it.

Being right so often around here is really starting to be a heavy burden. I wish Vito would stop reminding people...

I dont miss DT and I was a DT fan before anyone even knew about him.
