  3. Let's be honest. Most of you are not so concerned about us moving up so much as having to play us every year. What's worse playing in a conference with recent move up. Or losing to recent move ups. Truth is UNT has done little to separate from TXST and UTSA has a huge advantage with San Antonio. Doesn't matter if UNT goes to CUSA if you guys just remain at doormat status. Even if you guys try to avoid us on your schedule if we are winning and you guys are losing, we will be the better program.
  4. You obviously haven't been on the Texas State campus during the spring semester. Our ladies rank in the top Ten any day.
  5. Think what you may about TXST but we are quickly rising as a program. We may not have the Wins to show it just yet. But our Fanbase is growing rapidly and our fans are loyal. It's not the same program of ten or twenty years ago. TXST has created an identity/ brand that is going to fit in well at the FBS level. Francione knows how how to build a program and I think his team will surprise everyone.
  6. Most UTSA fans are ok. There are a few very annoying fans. Rowdy Runner is the first and worst of the bunch. Don't put much stock into his comments. He thinks UTSA is the next Alabama.
  7. Here is something to ease your mind. MWC and CUSA officials also visited TXST on Friday.
  8. Attendance vs TV $$$. You do the math. 30k seat stadium at say $35 average per seat. That's over a Million per game. Not including merchandise and concession sales. Yes attendance matters. Having teams that travel well in your conference makes all the difference in the world.
  9. Always fun to talk sports. I hope to see UNT on or OOC soon.
  10. TXST 2012 OOC is full. Texas State has these OOC games for 2012 Houston 9/1/2012 Away Texas Tech 9/8/2012 Home Nevada 9/29/2012 Home New Mexico 10/4/2012 Away Navy 11/15/2012 Away
  11. http://blog.mysanantonio.com/the-local-scene/2011/01/espn-could-be-interested-in-first-utsa-texas-state-football-game/ “We haven’t gotten to the point where we’ve put dates to the 2012 football games,” WAC boss Karl Benson said, “but that first Texas State-UT-San Antonio WAC game in 2012 might be pretty good. It might be a game that ESPN would be very interested in.”
  12. So far Dennise Franchione, Tim Brewster and Bobby Jack Wright are expected to interview for the job. More names are expected to be added in the next few days. Canales was mentioned but not sure he will interview (given he was just offered OC for UNT). Here is a story on the topic.
  13. Yes If Hawaii isn't part of the WAC that frees up what $500-$1 million a year in travel cost. Also several posters on Bobcatfans keep talking like Phil Fulmer is really interested in TXST. We should know more on Monday.
  14. Man this is entertaining. You guys are Going about this all wrong. The first thing you guys need to address is what qualities does your new ahead coach need to have. Ex recruiter, marketing, experience building programs, experience building sting defense or offense. Second you need to ask is how much will this coach change your program and are you willing to wait for those changes to pay off. Ex going after another spread coach or a defensive coach. Then you should look at what type o program is this coach used to. Dodge had the best players a high school coach could ask for. Now he's on the other side of that coin. I would think it would be good to hire a coach that can develope players. After that you should be able to filter the coaches that would best fit your program.
  15. Yea we over at Bobcatfans find it funny that thy didn't mention the start date since it will be this Feb. Durring the bobcat blowout reception that was the date all of the officails were saying.
  16. From the local scene section of the S A express news. http://blogs.mysanantonio.com/weblogs/t ... works.html Another facelift in the works for Bobcat Stadium By Jerry Briggs on Aug 27, 10 02:04 PM SAN MARCOS -- Another major facelift for Bobcat Stadium apparently is in the works. Word on the street is that the plan calls for another 13,500 seats to be added to Texas State University's football stadium in an effort to beef up the school's bid to pursue inclusion in a Football Bowl Subdivision conference. More details could surface next week. But based on preliminary reports, the university is expected to proceed with a plan that would remove the track from the stadium and wall in the north end zone with another seating section that would increase capacity to nearly 30,000. The reports come on the heels of recent comments from Karl Benson, commissioner of the Western Athletic Conference, who says that Texas State is under consideration as a potential member of that conference. The timing of the expansion project is unknown at this point. But a school official last year said he hoped to complete it within five years. If that's still the case, then it's possible that the expanded Bobcat Stadium might be ready by 2014. Cost is likely to run into the millions of dollars range. The refurbished west side of the stadium that opened last year cost $17 million. The west side project included the addition of club seats and luxury suites. Texas State opens its season Sept. 4 at Houston.
  17. no offense taken. Grand satnd are being extended as part of the " bowling in" of the Noth Endzone. We may not pass you up but we're right in your arse. So don't slam your breaks.
  18. In 2005 we sold out our stadium three times when we hosted the first three rounds in the playoffs. Each time tickets were sold out in one to two days. Our regular games average 12k. Opening game is usually a sellout as is home coming.
  19. I think our programs ate in simmilar ( not same) situations. You guys want to be seen as a 1st rate FBS program. We want to be FBS. Do like you guys any time I get to share what's realy going on here at TXST I will. Hope to have UNT over regularly once we get to FBS. Then we can help fill each others stadiums. As for breaking ground on our stadium it's already in progress. Our South EndZone complex was completed in 2004 our new suites and club seats were completed in 2009. Our North Endzone will start as soon as this season is over. Funds are already in place and contractors are in negotiations.
  20. That's a pretty out dated pic. Also don't forget we're talking about having our stadium built as an FCS program.
  21. OK, I know you guys don't follow TXST but I do. From the reports coming out of the ADs office are as follows. 1st New Track Stadium is breaking ground this Fall as in Our first game will be the Ground Breaking. 2nd As soon as the season is over Bull Dozers are moving into Bobcat Stadium to remove the track and begin adding what sounds like it will be A Two Tier End zone complex that will "Bowl" our North End zone ( side that says TEXAS STATE in the building ) as seen in the picture. It will take approx 1 yr to complete. Engineers are estimating this could add around 15K seats to Bobcat Stadium. Final renderings should be available soon. After that project is complete we are looking to add to our East Side (Visitor General Admission) to match the West Side Grand Stands. Last Part to my knowledge is the "bowling" in the South End zone. (End Zone Complex That is seen at the top of the picture. Also didn't say ours was better just going to be about same size maybe more seating. I am aware yours can be expanded as is ours. Final capacity could be some where around 45-50K. I like the "classic" look our stadium will have. Similar to the Ball Park at Arlington.
  22. Thanks for the visit. FYI the North Endzone (Aquarina side) is in the final stages to begin construction. AD says it could bring our stadium to 31K seats by the 2011 season. If I read correctly that will be larger than your new Stadium. Also we have additional plans that would ultimately bring he stadium to 45k seating.
  23. If you guys are looking for a FCS team that will bring a good crowd then you should invite TXST. We typicaly bring 5k or more fans to our FBS games.
