  1. Here is an in depth interview with TXST AD Larry Teis. In this Interview he discusses ALL the projects taking place in the Athletic Department and FBS expansion. Texas State Improvements -Track Stadium to break ground in Fall 2010 -Track Removal from Bobcat Stadium and Capping North Endzone to start shortly there after hopefully to break ground Winter(Feb) 2011. -2011 seating capacity should be up to or around 28K. -Basketball Arena just finished remodeling Summer 2010 -Soccer Facilities Upgraded Summer 2010 -Baseball Softball Complex Completed Summer 2009 -Football Luxury Box Seating and Suites Summer 2009
  2. I really don't care to talk smack because I think these forums have better use to share info and ideas. The comments that were made by viewers that came to bobcatfans were impressed with our crowd energy and the overall game. They mentioned it was simmilar to a FBS game and since it was on ESPN in HD that added to the viewing experience.
  3. Yea they saw the track and thought it was UNT then saw we were on ESPN and realized it couldn't be UNT.
  4. TXST has taken a very careful thought out approach to going FBS. At this time we are more focused on wining conference championships and playing for a national title. Hosting the playoffs in 2005 did more to advertise our program than any FBS game has done. We were on ESPN 3 weeks in a row and many viewers thought they were watching FBS football. With the FCS championship being hosted in Texas the next few seasons gives TXST the opportunity to realy show what type of fans we have in Texas.
  5. They failed to list TXST vs UofH.
  6. what does UNTs travel expense look like?
  7. I agree. What many of you fail to see is that TXST and UTSA WILL bring close to if not more than 5k fans to your stadium. I'd like to know what team on the Belt does that now. A 30K seat stadium is nice but not if you only fill it with the same 16k fans. Any way the WAC can go to 10 without UNT and TXST and UTSA can separate themselves from UNT. Or look at I this way with two transition teams in your division you can have two wins in the year instead of one. At lead until we catchup.
  8. Have you guys ever broken $750k
  9. Again I'm referring to the perception of BCS voters and the teams within the conferences. Hawaii is still a favorite and Fresno, San Jose, Nevada, and even LATech with their new coach are looking like " contenders".
  10. Perception is everything in the FBS. The WAC has historicly produced contenders and recently BCS busters. when the Belt produces a BCS buster it could easily pass the WAC. Right now perception among voters is that the Belt will not. If UNT pulls off an upset victory over a BCS team al la Boise over OU then the Belt as a whole is elevated.
  11. Bobcat Stadium 2012. Capacity 24500 My link We are expanding our stadium every off season. We are building a brand New Track and Field stadium this summer and removing the track from the football stadium in the fall 2010. Construction of the North Endzone scheduled to start Winter (Jan Feb) 2011 and should be ready for Fall 2011. Final Expansion will take our stadium to over 35000. Past Present Front of New West Side Expansion View Tour here http://www.txstatebobcats.com/view.gal?id=53113 The Jerry D. and Linda Gregg Fields Bobcat Stadium West Side Complex includes the addition of a Legacy Suite Level and Champions Club Level with a total cost of $17 million. The architect-engineering firm for the expansion is O'Connell Robertson and Associates, the contractor is Austin Commercial and the project manager is Broaddus and Associates. The Legacy Suite Level includes 15 suites. Each of the suites feature 12 permanent seats and four bar stools. Amenities include season tickets to home games, full kitchenettes, refrigerators and cabinets, a flat-screen television, operable windows that open and close for climate-controlled comfort, four VIP parking passes, and a suite attendant to ensure that Bobcat fans and their guests have the experience of a lifetime. Each suite also contains an elegant plaque that recognizes the contributions to the Bobcat football program. The Champions Club Level features 450 club seats. The club level includes covered, outdoor seating and also an indoor banquet-style area with tables and additional seating. Packages include pre-game food and game tickets with pricing tied to seat location. This is the entrance on the right side of the picture below. This is what our stadium should look like when it's complete. And if your interested in Baseball/Softball here is what our baseball softball complex looks like. We opened it with UT Austin http://www.txstatebobcats.com/view.gal?id=43827
  12. Well like I said It would be nice to see TXST and UNT in the same conference. I hope we (TXST) are invited to the WAC and if we are on of the first teams I hope to see in San Marcos is UNT. I know that if we had a chance to play in Denton we would bring 5-6K to the game. Ask the Baylor, Rice and TCU fans we Bobcats show up in force to TX FBS games.
  13. Wow didn't think that was going to hit a nerve. Just asked a question.

NTU can act, in the short term as a travel partner of LaTech. After LaTech leaves, NTU is situated in such a place that it can still be a solid long term member of the WAC while keeping it a western conference.</blockquote>It didn't sound like UNT was really high on the list. First off, Benson made it seem likely that the WAC will be an 8 team league for the 2011 season. When he talked about potential candidates he mentioned Texas State and UT San Antonio when discussing Texas teams. UNT had to be brought up by the radio host and then he included them in the convo. He also made a point to include Sac State when the host mentioned Davis and Poly. He also downplayed Montana by saying that they really aren't in the WAC footprint. --------------------------------------------- http://forums.scout.com/themes/scout2/post.aspx?s=451&f=2368&t=6065595&m=78776970&quote=1 Benson was on ESPN radio and UNT was not the hot topic. I think the Texas Trio described by the Bleacher report blog sounds solid but has UNT already lost out.
  15. Because I see UNT, TXST and UTSA becoming good rivals one day. Although many of you look down on our program we are well positioned to become a good FBS program. Our program is on the rise and I would like for us to join a conference wit instate rivals. I am not foolish enough to think CUSA is going to look to add additional teams from Texas any time soon. I really feel the WAC with an Eastern Division of UNT, TXST, and UTSA would be able to rival the SMU, UTEP, UofH and Rice of CUSA. As for Schedules three of your four division mates would be in State. I wish nothing but the Best for UNT but I think you guys could do better than sitting on your hands in the Belt waiting for a call from CUSA that may never happen.
  16. that has to be the weakest argument ever. All I have to say to that is TCU. They went West alone not trying to recreate the SWC and it has paid off for them. Tell momma she can by a plane ticket or watch on ESPN.

  18. the cost of marketing your brand is not a negative. It is an investment that one expects to increase revenue. Look at how much exposure UNT has recieved in just a short period of time because the WAC is considering another offer. Also consider the amount of exposure your program receives from the Belt. Are they realy helping to promote your "brand" on a national level. If you only think regional that's all you'll get if you want to break into the polls you need to get attention on a national level. WAC offers simmilar exposure to what CUSA offers. An Eastern WAC would keep cost low but increase both regional and national exposure. Spend a little to make alot. Spend nothing get nothing. Cost will always be there but what is your ROI.
  19. You can't save your way to rich. Sometimes you have to spend money to make money.
  20. FYI our budget is Larger than yours by 3 mill and our stadium is about to seat 25k by 2012 with future expansion to take it over 35k. Also that 19 mill budget will increase every year until it reaches aprox 25million. As is now our avg Football attendance is 13k only 5k less than UNT and we play teams that get little to no love in Texas. If we go to the WAC UNT will be left behind. When we play in state FBS teams we bring several thousand with us. Not smack just some facts incase you didn't know. Having TXST as a conference mate would be good for UNT. Most people want to join CUSA because they have multiple Texas teams. Well if the WAC west with UNT, TXST and UTSA were to form it would make for good rivalries in state. jmo
  21. Same as other thread yes or no only If a WAC East were offered to UNT consisting of NMST LATech UNT USU TXST UTSA with a Bowl game in SA should UNT accept? Just yes or no.
  22. Bobcat fan here and I can't help but notice the chatter about the WAC. We are having similar conversation on Bobcatfans and the WAC fan forum is doing the same. I think this is a great opportunity for both TXST and UNT. Some of us feel if the WAC adds three Texas teams it will push the Belt East and split the Texas mid majors between CUSA and the WAC. This could spark conference rivalry much like the WAC and MWC. Let's face it, CUSA will not add another Texas team unless the current Texas members bail. So why not start a WAC East that can rival CUSA for ESPN money and Fans.
