All of Troy's starting 5 were seniors this year so don't be surprised if they fall back to mediocrity next year.

Most of the students who attended were coming back from the bus trip or in the band. While I will be attending I doubt it's high on many students list of priorities on Spring Break.

The way Andy Katz put it today was that there are 3 #1 seeds and about 9 #2's. I don't know how big the difference is between a 15 or 14 seed this year.

A lot of "experts" are making a case for Ohio State to be a #1 seed and a possible Championship team. With a healthy Evan Turner that team is really good and I want no piece of them. From an area visibility perspective I would like to see us play Kansas State. Sports outlets like the DMN love the Big 12 and if we knock off one of those teams it will turn some heads. KSU beat Texas, Oklahoma, and A&M fairly handily and I would love to get some recognition for this squad.

For a full strength team, yes I would want to avoid 'Cuse like the plague. The biggest advantage we had in the Belt was our ability to dominate the glass with George and Eric. That advantage is completely neutralized when we play big, strong highly ranked teams. Yes the starting 5 for Syracuse is really very good and Rautins can catch fire from three at any time but our biggest weapon in this tournament is going to be the ability to get to the line and have the other team's best players on the bench. If I was asked if I would rather play a fully staffed KSU team or a fully staffed Syracuse team I would take Kansas State every time but this injury situation makes the match up MUCH MUCH more appealing to me.

I could not agree more. Syracuse and Purdue both have very short benches and given our ability to get players into foul trouble I think we could pull it off against those teams.

No sign of the Mean Green on the 64 team shirts, but WKU is there representing the Belt. I'm sure this will be rectified once the final 64 are set in stone Sunday.

Our guys definitely deserve better, but really this is what this school offers at this point in time. Many people in Texas only look at football when they judge a school's athletic program (there are exceptions such as Duke) and assume that if the football team is bad all other athletics are sub par. Because of this uninformed sports fan automatically discounts all of the sports of that school (a certain DMN columnist comes to mind as the leader of this group). Sports fans would much rather go to schools like Texas Tech and Oklahoma State where they can be competitive in football and any basketball success is just gravy. It also doesn't help that UNT has a large population of students of the arts and (sorry for the vast generalization) arts students don't tend to enjoy sports as much as someone who simply wants to go to school to get away from home and get sloshed while tailgating various sporting events. Hopefully we can upset a top tier team in the tourney so we can have a boom in sporting folk like Boise State had after beating Oklahoma in the "Statue of Liberty" Bowl.
