  1. I only wish we played them again during the season. I've never actually witnessed a UTA game in person. I hope they do well the rest of the season if not for the sake of my homeboy, but I can't wait till they come to our turf next year. The mid-major schools are moving up!
  2. Don't get me wrong, they're a good team, but I tend to think they (they're fan base) are getting inflated heads. Yes, they are undefeated so far, but they haven't really gotten into the meat of their schedule. They're ranked above us right now, but given that we play in the better conference, I believe we will trump then soon. My best friend is a UTA student and hardcore basketball fan (it is, after all, their only REAL sport), and he will not stop bragging about UNT's loss at their hands. I can only hope that they lose to Oklahoma State so I can at least have the consolation of knowing that we defeated a larger opponent.
  3. That was a GREAT game. The team really showed resilience and the ability to FINISH! Can't wait to see this team in action come February/March...
  4. I say we win all these games. It's a battle between the suckies....
  5. I'll be in the basketball band cheering my brains out.
  6. There was talk over the summer about him being at the Navy game. Anyone know if that still holds?
  7. It was an exciting game throughout, and our girls never took their feet off the pedal. There were some absent-minded turnovers, but the ladies were physical enough on the other end of the court to get the rock right back. Should be a better season than last year! Great job, ladies! GMG!
  8. Our team will be amazing this year. GO MEAN GREEN!!!
  9. Praise the Lord! Why is nobody responding to this?? This is the best argument in this entire thread! Thank you, kind sir. College football is a results-oriented game, and I think the (horrendous) results we're seeing this year indicates that the blame should be shared. Yeah, we have our weaknesses, but the Mean Green Football program as a whole---and I'm talkin coaches, players, heck, even the ball boy---should all share the blame for this year. I refuse to use the term "rebuilding" because of SO many returners on this team, but it's fair to expect some patience from us as loyal fans. This year has been a disappointment, but TD is a winner. As a fan and TD supporter, I can't help but assume that the tide will turn...who knows? maybe even this season! What? Crazier things have happened. I've always seen and heard the folks on ESPN taking quick jabs at the worst team in college football and found myself wondering "wow...I wonder what that's LIKE!" Well, we're pretty much there now and my fervor hasn't been shaken. And let's face it...we really have nowhere to go from here but up.
  10. The pep rally was alright. The groups that performed (the band, dance team, Scrappy, some random rock band, etc.) did extremely well all around. RV and TD came up and gave some great pep talks, but the students generally we're very stagnant and boring. In fact, they seemed more hyped about the rock band than about our football players. At one point, RV even said "if you cheer, I'll give you these shirts!" What followed? Some very half-assed applause. Don't get me wrong, there were a few (as there always will be) amped up, energetic fans. The problem is, they were few and far in between. A little disheartening for a diehard fan, but I personally had fun nonetheless! My little sister is in the band at UT, and I've gone to check out what their pep rallies are like and it's like night and day...a great goal for us to shoot for and surpass. Baby steps. In regard to our fan support, I think of the following saying: "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink...so make it thirsty." Give the people a reason to shout and scream, and they will come to these functions in hordes. Attendance was a little marginal, but I didn't show up until around 9ish, so maybe most of the people left. Hope that answers some questions.
  11. This is a GREAT post. Personally, I love the UNT-SMU rivalry and welcome any SMU fans, students, and alumni on the board to make good discussion.
  12. Lol, that was hilarious! This guy can't be serious...
  13. I didn't see that, but I did see an OU cheerleader step on another cheerleader's FACE when coming out of a backflip. This brought great joy.
  14. Ok, just read what I said on the other blog. But seriously, I can't believe some of the things you complain about. Remo and Yamaha have sponsored us...they're just drum heads!! Many schools use the same. So...OU ran on to the field. Cool? I guess I just look for different things when I watch a marching performance. I'm not going to argue with someone that has no idea what they're talking about. Now I know why some of my friends on football teams across the country don't read the fan boards.
  15. Lol, obviously not, buddy. OU fans themselves told me we outplayed and outmarched their group. If you really have a problem with the way we support our team, contact Mr. Williams yourself instead of complaining on this message board. I guarantee that our athletic dept. and Dr. B. have no problem with how the GB performs and supports. Get real.
  16. You guys are the only embarrassment if you truly think the GB was outplayed on that field last night.
  17. As a current member of the band, I have to say that I am extremely offended to see this out of our North Texas fans. Do you all not understand that the members of the Green Brigade have been out in the Texas heat for the past two weeks, putting in DOZENS of hours rehearsing and performing, supporting our team when most of the student population wants no part of our football program? How can you bash on Mr. Williams; marching band is a strenuous activity. To some of the students in the GB, marching band is the only physical activity that they will do all year! Williams said weeks ago that the performance attire for Oklahoma would be what we wore because of what the temperature usually is at this time of year. The safety of his students is paramount to everything else; last year at UT was the first time anyone passed out in I don't even KNOW how many years! You're going to complain about the color of the khaki shorts??? Really? Are you serious??? So what do you want him to do? Say, "hey band, I want you all to go to Kohls and get *this* brand of shorts only." Give me a break! The members of the Green Brigade are some of the best student fans that this school has had in the past 3 years. Sometimes, I swear our 300+ equal or exceed those in the stands. That tuba player that you're bashing is one of the best supporters and has some of the most pride I've seen. Rick V. comes out every year and thanks us for what we do every single game. And that's add to the college atmosphere with top-notch musical performance. We enjoy what we do, and we have fun with it. You all probably didn't notice, but the Green Brigade completely smoked OU's band out of the water musically and visually. Their fans gave us standing ovations to stand music and danced around to our tunes. On my way back to the buses, a woman (an OU fan) ran up to me and talked to me for about 5 minutes to tell me how much she enjoyed our show and our performance in the stands. Would I personally have liked to have worn uniforms? Yes; I don't want to give people any reason to believe we were trumped in any way, shape, or fashion. But when I got to OU and met with some OU friends I have from high school, I was asked about our attire as well. What did I say? Just wait till halftime. I just wish some of our fans could have done so as well.
  18. These guys are assholes. You'd think considering they're last game *ahem* they'd practice a little humility. But then again, they ARE Sooners...
