I thought for sure, slugging it out night after night with FAU, we could get at least one to swing in our favor.  But they kept coming out on top.

Frustrating to never get over that hump.  Not once in two seasons/5 tries.

I think Dusty is a top name at Ohio State Louisville, right? He'll be gone, Davis will leave with him (maybe go somewhere else, though), and I won't miss them.

The difference was FAU has a player who comes up biggest in “go time.”

Did you notice that, in all three games, it was tight with about 3 minutes to go and they put the ball in Davis’ hands.  From there he either got to the bucket (with or without an extra step or push off) and scored or he made the smart pass out of the double team.

Who was that guy for us?

Wrong.  First time not winning 20 games since Mac arrived.   For me, we were technically still very well coached.  However, our roster was not built to win.  Hodge didn’t step out of McCasland’s shadow with this season’s effort.  Got to be better at roster building.  Staff needs help too.

Take a look at who we racked up those wins against last year and compare to who we faced this year.

The best of CUSA came with us to the AAC and the rest of AAC was better than the rest of CUSA.   And yet, still, we played almost every game within 5 points without two starters during the heart of the season.

If everyone who is eligible to stay stays, and Ross can find a serviceable guy with size (doesn’t have to be a 5, just big enough to challenge at the rim and grab boards) we will make serious noise next year…I’m calling it now.

  3. I actually texted this to several people at halftime, and I’ll be damned if it isnt coming to pass.

”In the second half you’ll see the same thing you saw in Denton a few weeks ago…FAU will get sent to the line repeatedly for the first 12 minutes to open up a lead, and then meaningless (non-shooting) calls will go our way late to make it look more even.”

Apparently my previous post took forever to post as I was going to add Scott to it but seems Hodge is just as dense and stubborn as Mcasland when it comes to keeping guys out of foul trouble…. I was going to say if anybody goes into half with three fouls the game will be difficult to win. Oh well 😒

If only the highly paid men with thousands of hours of experience would lean on the wisdom of Andrew’s message board musings…Sweet Sixteen here we come baby!!

Pushy ass Weatherspoon trying to get a cheap foul call away from the ball. Does Dusty May coach this? Starting to feel that way

In a word, yes.   This was their strategy in the NCAA tournament last season as well…initiate contact on offense and cry until the calls come (and that includes their coach).

    FAU 12 ---------- NT 6

    11:53 to go

If we can really make this ugly, we may be able to win - but we're definitely not gonna score a lot tonight.

They have a way of making us look ugly.

Doesn’t help that our leading scorer has 2 free throws, a bad turnover, and a shot off the side of the backboard

Just judging by the stats as I didn't see this game.  But looks like the home team officiating may have helped UAB just a bit in this game.

    Fouls: SMU 26, UAB 16
    FT:  SMU 8-15, UAB 27-33

It’s nice to see someone else on the other side of lopsided officiating

I was talking about the All Conference defender & the NBA prospect. YOU mentioned him. Sounds like you have the Crush  🤣🤣🤣

What is known does not need to be said. Best player and it isn’t remotely close. We are talking light year distance between him & them.

But miss me with the fluff piece. You can hype a broken stick all day, it’s still a broken stick. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I actually enjoy watching the hype knowing that hype is all there is.

He has 21 of their forty. We have to find someone to stop him. I’d be tempted to put Scott on him. Then again, he’s one hell of a player.

As long as he’s allowed to lower his head into the defender’s chest to create space and then take two more steps (after killing his dribble) it will be hard

  10. This is just silly.   They assume that, if FSU, UNC, Louisville, and Clemson leave, there will be ANY reason for a network to renegotiate (or honor) a contract without the four biggest brands left in what is already the weakest "power" conference.

I could much more easily see the Big 10, SEC, and Big XII eating up every brand that's worth a damn (because they'd jump at any life raft at that point) and leaving the rest on their own.
