I knew he got banged up, but figured he’d come back by now.

Mooney was pretty sought after coming out of high school, and likely sat because he was behind a pretty solid guy his one year at Liberty.

Love his effort. Results are still up in the air. We are not dominating in AAC recruiting to the level I expected or hoped at this point.
Dominating?
What was it about the several years that preceded our entry into the American, or the step up in competition, that made you think we would show up and dominate in recruiting??

This game has been absolutely stolen by the refs. UTSA setup a beautiful screen to get a wide open dunk with 6 seconds left but the refs called an offensive foul for an illegal screen. It's been non-stop fouls on UTSA. So thankful we don't play Memphis on the road.
The real story was UTSA’s inability to play smart ball and close this game out. They are who they are for a reason.

If this program’s records the past 5 seasons weren’t…
31-7, 25-7, 18-10, 20-11, 21-12 with conference titles, an NIT title, and an NCAA tournament win sprinkled in…then I would be on YOUR side
There is ZERO excuse for attendance less than 5k a game

Just a question, is it really “breaking news” when it’s nothing more than a tease with no pay off??

Any media love we get will have to start with ESPN. Perhaps the local media will catch on later, but you know they're all in love with the Big12. And smut, for some reason.

I mean, it’s not like any posts on this forum are saving the rain forest or stopping human trafficking.
But I watched a lot of college basketball this weekend and other schools have full stands and aren’t making the excuse that school isn’t in session.
Most of these kids live in DFW anyway. And plenty of them are still in Denton.I drove over an hour to be there. I give my money and time to support this program and I believe the student support should be a lot better than it was yesterday.
First, you are not wrong about the students…the VAST majority of our student body lives within 45 minutes of campus.
But I would ask you to consider a few things.
1) Our students are not “normal”. I have long felt that being a school where the main majors are music, elementary ed, and other VERY liberal arts isn’t a recipe for having a bunch of sports fans. Hell, we even have a recruiting commercial for the University where the theme is “we’re not normal.”
2) With the success this team has had, the portions of the pit that aren’t student sections are even more conspicuously empty. Where were the promotions to celebrate the first ever AAC game at the pit? Why haven’t I heard of a “pack the pit” night on January 25th yet…SMU is coming to our house and there should be NO trouble selling why we need a hostile atmosphere.
Somehow, some way, we need to make the pit more than a great place to quietly enjoy your nachos.

Obviously Edwards’ 37 points was the main story, but a couple other tidbits of note.
- Aaron Scott had a double-double, the only one in the game
- Robert Allen led the team in assists
- Tulane’s Kevin Cross averages 16.8 a game…and had 9 today

Walking in from the parking lot today I heard two older men talking and one of them said, “I like North Texas games, it’s never loud in there.”

I just heard the single dumbest argument ever for NIL as it stands while watching College Game Day. The prospect of requiring players to compete in bowl games as part of their NIL agreement was brought up, and one of the talking heads said “but the NIL isn’t associated with the school!”
So, let me get this straight. If I offered a kid who happens to play football free meals or a rent free house, that was called an “impermissible benefit” 2 years ago because I am a “booster”, though I am not employed by the school. But, if I now offer a kid a check for 50k to sign with my university I’m just a “NIL collective” and no association with the school is implied???

NIL is pay-for-play, and anyone who denies this is either not too bright or being disingenuous.
Texas doesn’t offer 100k to EVERY o-lineman recruit a year ago because they’re actually utilizing their name, image, or likeness. Kids aren’t signing with SMU because they think “yeah, the culture of this place fits me.”
Kids are earning a salary and the NCAA is expecting people to believe it is anything but what it is.- 9
